Sunny Beach is NOT really Bulgaria. It used be a snake infested swamp where they brought in 5000 Hedgehogs to devour them before they started concrete rock piling for foundations. It is still at zero metres above sea level and one 'TSUNAMI' in the Black Sea will flood it all. BOZO is an wheat based fermented drink favoured by pregnant women. I discovered it many years ago thinking it was Chocolate Milk - how wrong was I.
It kind of does have a look of chocolate milk, I don’t think I’d miss Sunny Beach if a Tsunami came….though guess it would destroy the other places on the coast too which would not be good
not BOZO,but BOZA ,you bozo 😀😀😀😀
@@ATasteofBulgaria There is no tsunami in an enclosed sea !!!
That happened in Golden Sands - not in Sunny Beach.
How many tsunamis were there in the history of the Black Sea and how many of them hit the Bulgarian coast??? this is not Japan and there is no tsunami here!
If you are familiar with the legend for Kaliakra cape, it brings lot more significance.
This back in the day 14th, 15th century was the last bit of the second Bulgarian empire to feel under Ottoman slavery, and it's said that the Ottomans were transporting by that place 40 young virgin girls for the harems, slaves, Christians, and the bravest of them was called Kaliakra.
She jumped of the cliff drag in the rest of the girls to their death after all agreed to do that so that they could die Christian and with honor.
It's said that you could still see their blood on the cliffs below...
Yes I do know that legend, my wife told me about it many years ago when she first took me there
It's BS story, it means Good Cape in Greek.
MY PRETTY, BEAUTIFUL, WONDEEFUL AND BELOVED BULGARIA! I MISS VERY MUCH MY MOTHERLAND! I WILL COME BACK VERY SOON!
Great choice, she needs more to make the same decision
Me too ....I'm just clarifying a few things here in UK before returning shortly to Bulgaria after living abroad for 22 years . Much Love ❤
It reminds me of when my parents first visited me in Australia. It's great fun showing them what your new life is like and seeing their reaction to things they're unfamiliar with.
Yes have to agree with you in that. It’s nice to show them the new things that you have become accustomed to
Another great video, totally agree with your Mother regarding your channel being a tremendous view of what is available to visitors to Bulgaria also her opinion of Bulgarian tomatoes and Sunny beach.
That’s very much, glad you enjoyed it. BULGARIAN TOMATOES ARE THE BEST! 😋
I really enjoyed watching this video, Gareth. Wish I could have met your mom. She gave a great recommendation for A Taste of Bulgaria, which I give a hearty YES to. Wish I was there with you all.
Hi Suzi, glad you enjoyed it. When you move here there maybe be a chance to meet her when she next makes a visit over here.
Hi glad they had a great time enjoy watching it thank you
I’m also very happy that you found it enjoyable also
3:30 is called Kamen Bryag/Камен бряг meaning Stony/Rocky Shore
I just got back and although we had a good holiday ,we wouldn't be returning, for many reasons, not that welcoming, Hardly any friendly service whatsoever.
There's beach patrol not letting us out sit on the beach on the sand even though it's directly outside our hotel, they even called the police to kick another poor family off sitting on there towel, it was unbelievable...
Many more reasons, litter everywhere in golden sands, absolutely everywhere, tbh was like Bulgarias skegness,
Many more reasons,
The second week we was at Balchik just up the road, this was a lot better but there still not that equipped for Brits and no we're near as welcoming as spanish
Outside Bulgaria yogurt inside we called it Kiselo mliako "sour milk" - tomato with cheese - or cheese with grapes /or watermelon. slice of bread smeared with honey and butter or toast sprinkled with sunflower oil and red pepper powder. slices of lemon soaked in honey or sugar, baked apple with honey. scrambled eggs soak a slice of bread and fry some honey.the best food is the one cooked at home !! Come back to visit oldest city in Europe Plovdiv or any other big city with deep history :)
I will show them more if the centre of the country next time they visit
Adventure time for mom 😀🕊️🕊️
Yeah, I think they really enjoy their first trip here. Look forward to showing them more next time
WELCOME TO BULGARIA!!!
MY BELOVED TOWNS ARE - VELIKO TARNOVO one of the ancient capitols of Bulgaria.
- RUSE the gate town established by the Roman empire on banc of Danube river 250ad.
The most European town in Bulgaria!
Thank you for your input, I really appreciate the comment
Such a lovely couple! glad they liked it! Fom all places, why taking them to Sunny Beach, though? :D Better show them Nessebar! :)
Actually did sure them Nessebar it just wasn’t in the video
You need to hire a video editor! I think you have a lot to film in BG but it needs to be presented in an adequate way. There's a lot of outsourcing for this kind of service, so i would recommend you make an investement. It will surelly pay off!
hah.. the northern-ish (manchester maybe?) accent .. love it
Yes it is a Manchester accent good guess
Banitsa & Boza for breakfast... YUM! 😋👍
I prefer it with the Ayran…not a huge fan of Boza but I don’t hate it
@@ATasteofBulgariaThe problem with boza is that you hardly can get the authentic version anymore. Modern industrially made boza is made with artificial sweeteners instead of sugar and the natural fermentation of the drink is purposefully interrupted to get a longer shelf life. The original boza was made with sugar and had a very short shelf life of about 24-48 hours. By the second or third day the original boza would get sour and its alcohol and carbon dioxide content would increase due to the fermentation bacteria converting the sugar content of the drink into alcohol and carbon dioxide. You can still find some boza made with actual sugar that is close to the original taste of the drink. Look for sugar instead of aspartame or other artificial sweeteners on the label. The brand I can recommend is Harmonica. It is considerably more expensive than the typical boza brands (because the ingredients they use are eco/organic), but it's worth it in this case, if you want to try a taste close to the original drink.
Just a small correction -> it was not "KaRmen BRag", but Kamen Briag...it literally means STONE BEACH or Stone Shore
I known, my wife gives me hard time about that one all the time 🤦♂️
Boza... liquid wheetabix!! 😂
Interestingly... boza is probably at the origin of a very well known English word... booze!! 😉
Sunny beach... definitely not represent Bulgaria! It's just an overcrowded tourist area, full of drunken people!!
Some nice views of the coast... 👍
That’s very much, and also for the added info
Bloody hell, ofc how couldn't I think of it... it is liquid wheetabix BOZZA ....made my day!
Glad to hear you had a laugh about that one 😁
the drunk English youth represents well your country on Sunny Beach 😎
Before watching the video I predict that the thumbnail is boza reaction 😂
Oh no, they were excellent with the boza 😁. I thought it will be the boza and not the ayran 😂
Edit: they are sweet and I am happy they liked it in Bulgaria. I wonder if you told them the legend of Kaliakra. If they liked the place, they would like the legend.
This was also a surprise for Petya…she couldn’t understand why the reaction to Ayran was like that. The thing is with us British is that we are accustomed to the wheat taste of Boza though not in liquid form more as a cereal for breakfast. Yes I did make them aware of the story of the Virgins in Kaliakra
@@ATasteofBulgaria absolutely all my non-Bulgarian acquaintances hated boza but they are not from the UK, so your explanation makes perfect sense. 👍
Has inflation gotten way worse in the last few months or is beginning to slow down?
It has slowed down a little, even the petrol has dropped a bit. But doesn’t mean that it’s in a good place for the pensioners or low income Bulgarians
@@ATasteofBulgaria Yeah i was getting some job offers again so i was wondering if its a good idea to come down now?
@@theswede5402depending on the salary they were offering to you. If it's at least €1200 or near then you're all set, believe me.
Yorkshire accents?
Close, we’re from Shaw which is just on the boarder of G. Manchester and Yorkshire
Like watching someone else's home movie. Exciting for those in it, boring for the rest of us.
That's a very unfortunate thumbnail, and mystifying to anyone who's ever tried Bulgarian food. I hope the video will not be disrespectful.
Probably their first taste of rakia, something I'll never forget lol
Buddy, that reaction was like a bait for us to open the video. And everyone have their own taste of liking/disliking a food. I don't know what Rakia is, but if that's too sour at first sip, then anyone may get such reaction. 🤷🏻♂️I wish to travel Bulgaria someday. Hope inflation to go normal soon!
@@tarunkalra3924 Rakija is Bulgarian brandy. It shouldn't be sour, if it's good. Anyway, always a good thing to visit new cultures -- as long as one is respectful. Enjoy!
@@brianwhinnery6170 😄
It's fun, nothing disrespectful.
walter white ?????????
Sorry not understanding the reference
@@ATasteofBulgariaIt is a reference to one of the best crime television series of all time "Breaking Bad" where an American high school science teacher resorts to making illegal drugs in his spare time to deal with the costs of a potentially lethal health problem and provide for his family. Your dad looks a bit like the main character of the show, Walter White (played by the amazing Bryan Cranston), although I any likeness is certainly in appearance only :-).
I as a Bulgarian do not like Sunny Beach, i love peace, i dont like how faked it is, how western it feels.
very true, very true.
I’m Also doing a live online premier of my new video today 16:00 Bulgarian Time (EET) that I’d like to invite you to, It’s about my First experience in Sofia and a sleeper train from Varna

With such gorgeous transparent water, why isnt any one in the water? Are there sharks? It is too cold? I love beach, but because of swiming, if you cant go swim, then I dont really care about sand and sun.
Of course, you can swim lol, it's the very south of the Black Sea - it is warm mate. Well, at least from end of May till mid September it's approx. between 23° and 27° the water temperature... It's not like in Portugal, for instance, where you literally cannot swim ever... just because the water temperature scarcely go higher than 20° even in summer
