- A lot of combatants have been on Death Battle, hundreds of characters and over a hundred series, but who do I think need to come back in the future? Let's see.

Starscream needs to come back in an episode, and his opponent should be Metal Face from Xenoblade Chronicles

Metal face barely gets anything though. Like i’m pretty sure he’s the least impressive xenoblade villain in terms of feats/scaling. Stats equal matchup maybe?
Yeah he has a big laser blast, sharp claws, can fly, exit the cockpit and fight remotely and that's about it since his most lethal attack literally is only lethal to characters from his own world.
I'd agree if he had decent feats.
This is the next Transformers MU they should do
Characters that still has a lot to offer to the table that would make their new episode different than their previous one (example pretty much all Mega man in Mega man battle royal except maybe the original)
Characters that death battle didn't do justice in their episode whether it's because the budget or just them genuinely not handling the character well at all (examples Spawn for the former and Ragna for the latter)

After sitting through someone's 8-Hour dive of his entire video game history, I feel that Bomberman ABSOLUTELY deserves to return to Death Battle, if not for the reaction from the hosts to how... absolutely bonkers and scattershot Bomberman's lore is during their analysis.
Though he, like MOST if not nearly all of Season 1 and to a certain extent, Season 2&3's combatants, if they were ever to return, they'd need new opponents, considering how MASSIVE the shift is in production mentality from the earlier seasons of Death Battle to the present day.
Frank west needs to come back, seriously, we need Frank West vs Crazy Dave, it could be such a banger and has such high fight potential despite just having two humans, reason why is simple, they use wacky weaponry, the combo weapons and plants clashing could be so entertaining and seeing a PVZ match up would be incredible(especially considering how it's one of the biggest game franchises ever and yet deathbattle hasn't had it at all)
Yeah and actually use the version of Frank that people like next time. DR2 Frank would be nice to see instead of DR4
Kiryu vs Unit 01 is in my top 3 most wanted episodes. Would LOVE to see it but Kiryu is in a spot where they covered his full story and arsenal already so his analysis would literally be exactly the same as before. They could comp him with the other Mecha-Godzillas but then that takes away from what makes Kiryu vs Unit 01 thematically so good.
I'd argue Cammy absolutely warrants a return, considering how the animation in "vs Sonya" straight-up has her job to Sonya.
EDIT: Also, BUCKY VS JAZZ JACKRABBIT OR BUST.
Trust me, the people who want slayer vs MC specifically to see Chief lose are still there and still strong. I would find it funny if DB didn’t buy the lore statements and had Chief win again through better defenses and attack speed
Lore statements are bullshit anyway. Unless we SEE the character do it, you could say he fucked the universe in half and I wouldn't give 2/10 of a shit.
I think even not using lore statements, seen feats alone show Doomguy destroys Chief low diff tbh, it be funny to see them piss off everyone tho

@@zachspool coming back with some more research I was down playing Chief ngl, Doomslayer shown feats only has Doomslayer being maybe more durable for tanking the hell crucible slash at the end of 2016 and maybe when he got shot out the cannon but I could not find specs on it ngl
I honestly think Red should return. I mean, they gave him Charizard and that's it. It'd be cool to see him with a full team. But they should do other notable trainers first, like Cynthia, Giovanni and Nemona.
Also, for The Joker, I think The Master from Doctor Who would be awesome. They could either keep The Master and The Joker to their usual level without their most insane abilities, or go all-out and give both The Joker and The Master their most insane stuff. Plus, they're both such big personalities, that seeing them bounce off of one another would be amazing. Visually, they should use either John Simm's Master, or my preference, go with the original Delgado Master.
As a mario fan that hasn't had a new mario episode in almost five years now, if the series came finally back and it was with a goddamn returner like luigi vs pac man or something, kneecaps are getting bent.

The people saying Metal Face has nothing going on I assume are referring to versus stuff. Outside of the god tiers, Xenoblade 1 doesn't have much in terms of powerscaling stuff, and they could probably give Starscream feats that aren't even in the top 10 feats he scales to and he'd still stomp Metal Face.
In terms of things that would be cool in an analysis or animation, on the other hand, Metal Face has plenty. The only real issues I can think of is that one of Metal Face's best options (His Ether imbued claws) generally only works on biological beings, and he doesn't really fight people his size very often; but these are both things that can be pretty easily worked around.
One matchup for Doom Slayer that I’ve seen that I kinda like is Doom Slayer vs Saint-14. I don’t know a whole lot about Destiny 2 but from what I’ve heard this fight would be pretty fun.
Slayer vs Godzilla has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. As much as I don’t want to see two of my favorite characters fight and one of them die, this would be such a fun fight.
26:44 Yeah it’s more then just budget. Every single minion, robot or mech we wanna see in the fight even for just half a second. Would still require the same amount of time and budget towards making a spirit or 3D model for them to work with. And then everything else you do is even more
And the more things on screen at once, the more detail and time that has to be spent on every single frame in great detail. So even if it’s just 3 minutes. The amount of things on screen would make this take longer and cost more then most if not almost any other previous fight of the same length
Similar to Galactus VS Unicron. Simply having a lot of time isn’t the only factor. As that episode took them over 3 years to make. The problem is since it wasn’t an episode in the seasons in was worked on in secret, no one could really work on it. Do to everyone else being busy on all the other projects. They didn’t have enough people to just have extras work on a animation that wasn’t due that season if that makes sense

@@Dario-uj6qo Yes, as they confirmed on the commentary: we’ve been working on this behind the scenes for a few years now. We just didn’t have many people or the time in their schedule to work on that project. And it wasn’t just them. Animators across rooster teeth’s entire time stepped in to make that beast. Only after completing the justice league RWBY crossover were they in a position to fully start completing it

@@Dario-uj6qo Yeah, it’s more than just resources, it’s a case of everything on the table because most “extra” people they’d have aren’t really ever available. Working on a project in the background isn’t really an option they have most of the time considering their resources and animators are already stretched so thin with the amount of projects their working on right now and don’t really have people or time left to work on a 17th project in that same year especially since it doesn’t NEED to be done that year so it takes less priority. Budget also doesn’t matter much if you don’t have enough Time to animate the fight. As an animation can still be 3 minutes long and still take way WAY more time then most usually do. If that makes sense

As some who watched MLB (It's bad, but its bad its good) Ladybug has goofy potential when deciding what she can and can't do, you could go season 4 and she will have every miraculous in the miracle box to use, including stupid crap like bargain Limitless with the Ox, Straight up stun from the Bee, Rewinding time with the Snake and Rabbit, or even just able to pick your own powers.
Season 5 scaling would mean she won't have these, but she could spam Lucky Charm, which btw literally will always solve her problems, oh and they are used to Reverse all Damage
I'm hoping for a return of wargreymon, specifically with some of the more insane feats they should scale too.

Newer one for Doomguy I’ve been hearing about lately that seems interesting in a ridiculous way is Doomguy vs Godzilla cause apparently since 2014-2016 when they both had a revival they have actually had quite the power increase as well as similar story moments that it seems awesome

Metroid is my favorite series and Samus is one of my favorite characters in general so her return is my most wanted Death Battle thing to happen. Who she should/would fight is still sort of up in the air since she has a surprising amount of worthwhile opponents. Master Chief is a matter of when not if due to its legacy. I feel like Mega Man X would provide the best fight due to both character's abilities. Nova Terra is a recent option and would get StarCraft onto the show. There's still more I could mention like Guyver 1 from Guyver the Biobooster Armor but I can only guess that Death Battle would considering making a proper Death Battle for Master Chief or X as Samus' opponent.
As a aside note it feels like most characters from Season 1 & 2 that haven't already returned should come back. This is just for the fact that they've been gone for so long let alone what new stuff might have come out for them.
She can honestly fight Doomslayer, you can scale Samus pretty fucking high with Prime and Dread feats plus like with the Dread suit shes got the Rage & Look that makes a good Slayer matchup
For DIO I agree and disagree. If it's regular DIO, then I agree, he doesn't need to return. If it's Heaven Ascension DIO... have him fight Infinity Ultron.
51:53 Well, as a lifelong Ratchet & Clank fan, I can tell you I'd put them in "I'd want, but don't like any matchups I know", both as a duo again and as separate individuals.
Something to bring the universe back that I wouldn't be entirely against would be Dr. Nefarious Vs. General Grievous (which would also be a non-force lightsaber user with a different fighting style for Star Wars). The connections aren't the best imho, but they aren't the worst either.
Main problem is that they don't really clash well in terms of power sets.

I still haven't given up on Ryu Hayabusa vs Joe Musashi (Shinobi.) It could be another case of Nintendo vs SEGA. And, with a new Shinobi game in production, it might finally be relevant enough to warrant some sort of episode. Even if it were a Death Battle Cast. (Ryu most likely slashes, but I don't know the lore of the newer or the Game Gear titles.)
There are a few Sonic characters I would like to see in an actual episode. Bowser-Eggman would definitely be one of them (even if Ivo would get scrambled.)
I'd also love to see Blaze in a fight, but she doesn't have that much media or good opponents. I was thinking about Azula at one point, but even base Blaze would probably melt her.
I don't particularly enjoy the idea of Xeno Goku vs Archie Sonic, because either way the aftermath would be bad. Super already did a "superb" job of handling the conclusion.
There is that wild idea of Red vs Blu as in RvB and Team Fortress 2 mercenaries, but Sarge vs Soldier would probably do the same job.
I refuse to die until Duke Nukem vs Serious Sam or The Godwoken vs The World Guardian has become real. Maybe with Divinity 3? One can dream.

Doom's magic is like Darkseid's True Form, everyone constantly SAYS how OP and powerful it is, like "second in line for Sorcerer Supreme" thing, but he literally never does anything with his magic that's even remotely interesting beyond force fields, mind transfer etc. (which are the things he did in his fight with Lex)
I would want Batman to return for the final time because bro catches strays for no reason, and I know that he had 4 appearances, but he sucked ass in all of them, they didn't focus on almost any of his gadgetry and in his fight with Tony, he fought like a fucking idiot, never utilized stuff like Brother Eye, hacking AI, Final Suit, hell not even the nanobots which was how Tony literally won, it was a very clumsy execution of his character.
Plus considering how Infinite Frontier works now, Batman can be argued as pretty fucking OP right now, so you can definitely do crazier matchups than Daredevil or Moon Knight

This was a pretty fun listen while I was at work which gave me an idea for a video you could do in the future. Maybe you could do a video in the same vein like one on a death battle season of all returners, where each match has at least one returning character that was already on the show, either as themselves or an alternate version (ex: Archie Knuckles, Old Man Logan, etc). Would be pretty cool to see you do

Lee vs Ryohei from Hitman Reborn would be a fun fight and the two are closer in personality than Lee was with Sanji.

"Treating a character who could be seen five years from now"
Now that's a fair criteria. It would be easy to write off so many for being "Too Recent" choices, but even so it does feel like if there is a "demand" to see a character return, they could bring them back without having to wait literal years to do it (especially since a lot has changed for some characters over the last decade).
While it would be fun to write out a wishlist, I'll just drop off five characters I would like to see return (while skipping the obvious choices like Spawn or Kratos):
-Riptor: I felt like Riptor from KI got cheated. Yeah, it was an early on episode against Yoshi and it was played off as a joke with how easily she got killed off. That and also for KI's reboot, Riptor is a genetically engineered bioweapon with such as killer design that it I would put her as a front runner for a Killer Instinct Rep should another show up in the future.
-Doomslayer: Another Season 1 character who only had the original Doom series to work off of and five years before we got the rebooted Doom with Doomslayer. I don't know if they would "Remaster" this episode while giving Master Chief some updated feats, but whether if we bring him back or not, Doomslayer needs a runback.
-Scout: Whether if we bring him back or another TF2 rep, I feel like this is more of a "Fix the glaring problem with his first appearance" when you had the guy who is known for being the fastest of the nine characters and he is barely doing any running. They got Tracer down nicely, but Scout was just... Kind of felt like he deserved a better showcase. Speaking of...
-Hulk: In spite of two appearances, he is a member of the lovely 0-2 club for getting his head ripped off and disintegrating. However more because of the second fight than the first that it felt like he wasn't that strong. I still remember Hulk throwing around Broly and how it would sound like throwing building blocks on concrete would make a louder sound. I don't know if it is to see him get a win or have Hulk join Batman in the 0-3 Batcave, but it does feel bad when we have someone who is supposed to be the strongest and he got outpaced both times.
-Dante- Mainly because of DMC5. Give him a different opponent from Bayonetta, but I still remember how lit Season 3's starter was and how Dante has only become that much more dangerous since. Still, part of me doesn't want to say this should go to Vergil since I feel like we tapped that well with his fight against Sephiroth (and how even after his boost, it still likely wouldn't be enough).
I thnk that's a fair wishlist. Really for Riptor and Doomslayer, those are more "rematches I want to see" than anything else, but I think for anyone else from the early seasons, they could still work to see them return. The other two (Scout, Hulk) is mainly because of the fight animation leaving me want to see them again because they need more. And Dante because Dante. And you can't go wrong with Dante.
For Rainbow Dash, okay I know Anne from Amphibia and Movie Shazam are the more popular matchups (unlikely though due to Luz being Anne’s most popular and best, and the actor for Shazam getting in some controversy), Movie Sonic just vibes the best for me. The other matchups for him are good, great even but there’s something about Movie Sonic Vs Rainbow Dash that just vibes with me.

I think Makima needs a comeback. As a Csm fan, while the analysis is pretty great, the animation completely misrepresents her. I really want an episode where i can see the character as she actually is, instead of the more generic personality they decided to go with. She's the only character in the last season that i feel was done dirty on this level.

Yeah I still understand why you Thnk Hulk vs. Godzilla shouldn't happen, but I do think the matchup can work In a way with having Bruce Banner in the actual fight. Since both episodes with Hulk just has him showing up as Hulk to beat the other dude up, which I think misses half the appeal of Hulk as a a character.

A lot of the matchups for Master Chief that the community proposes aren’t well suited imo for him. Doomguy vs Master Chief is a boring matchup for a lot of reasons, even ignoring the fact that right now it would be an utter stomp. The connections are paper thin as is, green armored super soldier who shoots guns, that’s it. Same issue with Samus Aran, except with even less connections.
A good matchup would be Master Chief vs Commander Shepard from mass effect. Two science fiction universes originating from revolutionary video games for their time, each character a soldier fighting to save humanity from an alien armada, discovering ancient ruins and lost civilizations with advanced technology. Ai companions and iconic armor, and you got a perfect matchup imo.

For the rangers I could see specifically see Jason get a come back. His TMNT fight didnt give Zio Gold a chance & they also have omega rangers if they could find another non canon matchup
A match for Aang can probably be mob vs Aang in both of there best forms. The only thing wrong abt it is that they basically went over everything for both characters

I think literally calling her “the ultimate stalker” wasn’t the greatest depiction or impression to leave on non Sonic fans. Especially when a common trait of hers is being a bad ass that can handle herself
She has a surprising amount to work off with. I know everyone hates this but her VS Peach could be fun. A more toned down version of Mario vs Sonic if you will. A great way to show that both these females are more the capable of handling themselves and kicking the shit out of the main threat just as well as our protagonist.

Scout needs and deservws to be again in death battle but this time they should make a good research not that trash they did during, before and after the battle in which they miscalled some of scout's weapons or confuse his brothers with his teammates or the fact he used devil may cry weapons during the fight instead of his own weapons while he was standing still.
Doomslayer vs Master Chief just isn't a fair fight at all. It's not even worth wasting an episode on. Phoenix deserves a comeback so they can do right. They HIGHLY underplayed her and took one look at a panel of the tiger god biting the Phoenix Force and misunderstood that as "Her getting over powered" when litteraly the next pannel is her holding that tiger by the throat and it looking terrified.

Of course, there are a lot of seasons 1 and 2 characters that should come back. Besides characters like Kratos, Spawn, DoomSlayer, etc. I feel the majority of the female characters deserve a runback so they can be treated with more respect and justice
For me, I'm biased as hell because it supports my number 1 matchup. But I firmly believe Tifa Lockhart is the MOST deserving of a return. Yes, I know FF7 is overdone on Death Battle, and I 1 million percent agree they should prioritize doing other FF character matchups that aren't 7, but hear me out. She got placed in a 15-minute RWBY advertisement where the analysis was nothing but "She has a big chest and punches good" hardly anything about her story in the game, nothing on how she's an actual character, just painted her as fan service. Then gets killed and has a banner of her killer's series advertised above her corpse
Now who do I want her to fight, I know a lot of people would say Terry or Chun-Li (I don't really get the latter, someone needs to fill me in) but I honestly feel there's no better opponent than Makoto Niijima from Persona 5. Both JRPG martial artist that have a strong sense of justice due to their father's death. Both are part of vigilante groups to take down high-power government corruption, and both have access to magical abilities. So yeah, goes without say I'm very passionate about not just my personal matchup but Tifa returning in general. Like her, most of the female characters from early Death Battle deserve better and I hope one day they all will get their justice
Eggman is number 1. He hasnt been seen since season 1, while Sonic and Shadow have had multiple battles.
If Lex didnt fight Doom he would've been a great opponent against Archie Eggman.

Luigi and Bowser DEFINITELY deserve to return. They got treated unfairly so badly in their episodes, but as for matchups? Luigi vs FNAF or VS PAC-MAN would be great. As for Bowser, I like him vs Dr Eggman or Vs Godzilla, would be freaking amazing, and you only boo me because I’m right!!! (Yes. Bowser vs Dr Eggman would be good. But Bowser VS Godzilla would be amazing because yes, it’s not a rivalry matchup, but imagine Bowser using Power-Ups against Godzilla’s evolutions. Gosh, I want them to do this so badly.)

Luigi vs FNAF;
Both are video game franchises. Both have horror elements.
Luigi Mansion more of a child’s game that has Adult horror game aspects.
FNAF is a more adult horror game with Child’s game aspects.
Luigi and FNAF both have a lot of lore and story that are usually over sniffed and looked over for a bigger picture.
Luigi VS PAC-MAN has a lot more tbh:
Both started as arcade characters.
Both have a massive history with ghosts.
Both have been through every system and have done multiple genres while maintaining their character.
Luigi and PAC-MAN have a lot of diverse abilities for Ghost Busting.
My personal favorite Mega Man character for a Samus runback is probably Aile from Mega Man ZX.

And what's wrong with their match ups? Red hood and Washington is a great fight and has good connections and potential, and Tex vs bucky is about the same level

Venom needs to come back and fight Jakie estacado that match is based, we also need jotaro to come back and get a better fight, cause jotaro vs kenshiro was a bit of a let down, I also feel as If deku and asta should return and fight different opponents, since asta very out of character in the episode and couldn’t use all his hax since deku doesn’t have magic, asta should probably fight Meliodas so he can use his full kit and deku should definitely fight gon from hxh because contrary to popular belief deku and gon have way more connections then “green and punch hard” plus the fight potential and dynamic is much better then deku vs asta since deku and gon have very similar fighting styles and counters for each others abilities.

My big question is would a returning character have a big enough change to their rundown and animations to warrant it. Like Harry Potter wouldn't really change even a dozen years later. Yang or Tifa meanwhile would have a very different episode if they came back, even if not against each other.
