Worst team Canada roster in a long while. That being said teams like Norway and the Swiss are playing super well. What a move on that first Norway shot!
Yeah, that what happens when there's is a case against Hockey Canada. Many of the good players don't want to be involved in it so they ice team F. A lot of good players that are available and won't play or blocked to play.

They are in the quarterfinals. This game was mostly meaningless. Two years ago they had a horrible start, but still won the gold. So, anything is possible.

nice to see a successful Norwegian team. any win against Canada regardless of league is a worthy achievement. i've always wondered why Norway isn't a bigger hockey country. it seems like such a natural fit, given the region, and how dominant their neighbors are at it.

@@danieln1732 yea cause that power play not scoring has anything to do with the refs bringing the puck to norways zone when it absolutely should not cause if they didnt bring it into norways zone canada wouldnt have a chance to even it. And then they dont call a blatant slashing that is the only reason canada got the puck to be able to score. So without the refs blatantly breaking 2 rules simultaneously canada would never have evened it. Absolutely carried by refs to even out the game

The 2:40 to 3:26 mark of the video mentions the ejection of Fantilli for a head shot to Kaasastul. I dunno if the latter left the game although there's no doubt Bolts' d-man Cernak, after a head shot by Leaf winger Mike Bunting, in game 1 of last month's Bolts-Leafs' playoff series, WAS injured by the elbow. Bunts would from the NHL Player Safety Department (NHLDPS) be required to miss games 2-4 of that playoff series. Could Fantilli face a suspension of similar length with respect to games overseen by the IIHF? Things don't look too good for him for the rest of this year's adult Men's Worlds' tourney although the IIHF has yet to decide on whether to repeat what the NHLDPS did to Bunts for the Cernak hit.

Ummm none of the elite Canadian players suited up for team Canada. I guess they had better things to do SMH. Where is McKinnon, Sid, Stamkos, Schiefele, Marchand, Marner etc? This team Canada is made up of NHL 3rd/4th liners and no names.

I will say, seems there’s a alot of ppl in the comments that dont get it. Forget about the excuse its the Canadas F team or R team or Z team. Its a (nearly) full NHL team from a country that lives breathes eats and sleeps hockey, against a team of non nhl players from a country where the sport is a side hustle at best. Canadas performance is lame this tournament, whatever excuse u wanna come up with; they’re even resorting to boneheaded stupidy to try an help em win. And don’t give me that, “if they had McDavid and McKinnon and Makar”….. like no shiFT they’d have a better chance of winning! Look at US roster. I get what you're saying, but why do we as Canadians even have to be critical of this team? Sure they did not show up, sure they shuold've won, but that does not mean I have to support them and "own up" to the bad results just because they are wearing the maple leaf. Most in Canada don't care about the world championships and we have no obligation to feel defeated or disappointed when this team loses just because its composed of pros with canadian passports, especially so this year. What really hurts is watching Canada's best rip it up for sunbelt teams, depriving our country of the holy grail for a 30th year in a row...

Nobodys copeing Canada doesnt care about this tournament because it never consists of our best players usually 3rd and 4th liners from the NHL nowhere near our top talent. Its why the world juniors is far bigger (in Canada at least) because it legitimately has our best junior players.

Канадцы всегда присылали на чемпионаты мира слабые составы. При том, что у них всегда были игроки экстра класса. Поэтому на ЧМ их делали, в основном, все подряд. Чем могли ответить канадцы, так это качественным мордобоем, в чем они, в отличие от игры, всегда преуспевали. Это было в 70-80-е годы, но, оказывается, ничего не изменилось. Разве что, канадцы драться перестали (что уже похвально). Я понимаю, есть дела поважнее, чем ЧМ. Кубок Стэнли и т.д.. Понятно, что бабло превыше всего. Но нельзя же так позорить свою страну, родоначальников хоккея! Но им, по моему, все равно. С тех давних времен ничего не изменилось.

Сильнейший состав был на КК-81, правда великая сборная СССР уделала канадцев в финале 8:1. Очень хороший состав был на КК-87. Рубилово было страшное, матчи поражали своим драматизмом. Финал со сборной СССР был великолепным. Сейчас, при всем желании, канадцы не соберут таких сильных составов. Видимо, подход к хоккею у них стал другой, да и другие команды подтянулись здорово. Кто бы мог подумать, что Швейцария и Норвегия (которые в прошлом никогда в топ-дивизионы не входили) будут так сильно играть и быть в числе фаворитов.

Joel Hoefer has at least 90% saves in 6 games with the Blues. Also has 42 games in the AHL with a 92 % average. He might not be top tier, but no Beer Leaguer that's for sure. As a Norwegian I would not mind a goalie with stats like that in our roster. Jonas Arntzen who was in the Norwegian net during this game, was a backup goalie and is less experienced.
No matter how much you wanna insult Joal Hoefer, he is a goalie with higher status than Jonas Arntzen. I'll say this though. I was very surprised how much better Arntzen actually was in this game. I'm glad the NHL/AHL can be humbled occasionally. It is the best league in the world, but other Leagues are learning and slowly catching up.

Yes, this is a poor Canada team without any good players aside from Weegar, but even our U20 team should be able to beat this Norway squad 10 times out of 10. They have 8 guys playing in the NORWEGIAN league (and 1 from the Austrian league). A team full of part-timers and amateurs, essentially.
