I remember him in 2008 as a left wing, in a friendly match at Biarritz stadium, few years before moving to front row. Looked like a back version of Phil Waugh. Super dense, very eager to be involved in collisions, Biarritz had to perform tackle 2 on 1 to stop him. I hope they’ll remember him in Leicester, as single club professional player , captain, international player, Lions…and a remarkable family man. Wish you the best Tom.
Heartfelt thanks for all you've done for the club. Going to wear the shirt you signed for me for the Bristol game. All best wishes to you and the family for your retirement.
Wishing you all the best on your retirement Tom, you've been a great servant to the Tigers, England & the game itself. The rugby world will miss your talent, passion & commitment.... Best wishes to you and yours from a London Irish supporter. 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
Thank you Tom. Your dedication to our great club through everything that you have been going through is testament to the legend that you are and always will be at Leicester Tigers. You’ll be missed. Best wishes to your family.
From a Gloucester boy I've probably shouted at the TV many times berating you when playing vs Glaws. What a huge impact you've had on the tigers and for England . You always played hard and never took a backward step and should be proud of yourself for all you have achieved . All the best for your and your family's future and all our best wishes are passed your way . didi rugby Gloucestershire .
Omg totally agree. Both my boys have looked up to you after seeing you at Happisburgh Primary school, especially my 14 year old now he is playing for the u15s at North walsham rugby club. Your his idol and I thank you for all the times they have met you, you have always been a true gentleman ❤
Tom, we as fan really appreciate what you Ben have done for this club. We acknowledge the sacrifice and thank you for everything. Wish you all the best in your retirement. Always a 🐯
Tom you have really earned the respect and admiration of so many - Congratulations on a blazing career - enjoy your retirement as much as your return trips to Welford Road.
An absolutely brilliant interview - huge admiration for both brothers - both of them great ambassadors for the Club - Tom will be missed and huge best wishes to him for the future - Ben continue being amazing
I'll second that. It's obvious to anyone who sees and hears you what this club means to you and what you've done for us all. I look forward to seeing you ans the new england forwards coach when Cockers takes over 😉 Enjoy your retirement and you're welcome in the crumbie any day
A brilliant bit of work from both you boys there, some real insights into the journey you have travelled and hardships faced. The honesty in particular and the obvious emotion really rang true to me having gone through something similar myself and on that and despite how club, country and rugby as a whole won't be the same without, you are ABSOLUTELY doing the right thing! Family first... always! Your Tigers family understands the difficult decision you have made and stand by you. I have nothing but admiration and respect for you Mr Youngs and incredibly thankful for everything you have done for our fantastic club and great nation. Team Abbott wish you and your family all the very best of luck and happiness for the future, hopefully we'll see you on the terrace very soon! (I'll be the one with a Tiger cub on a folding step and another one strapped to my chest... my Tigress with be the Guinness fuelled noisy one next to me!! 🤣🐯💪) Good on you mate... go show them grunters who's boss!!
Please accept our sincerest condolences from our family to yours. The boys did us all proud at Welford Road on Saturday. Once a Tiger always a Tiger. Thank you for your career and service. God bless.
