Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) navigate running the third oldest professional football club in the world. Welcome to Wrexham is a docuseries tracking the dreams and worries of Wrexham, a working-class town in North Wales, UK, as two Hollywood stars take ownership of the town’s historic yet struggling football club.
In 2020, Rob and Ryan teamed up to purchase the 5th tier Red Dragons in the hopes of turning the club into an underdog story the whole world could root for. The worry? Rob and Ryan have no experience in football or working with each other. From Hollywood to Wales, from the pitch to the locker room, the front office to the pub, Welcome to Wrexham will track Rob and Ryan’s crash course in football club ownership and the inextricably connected fates of a team and a town counting on two actors to bring some serious hope and change to a community that could use it.

As great as this was, it's nothing compared to what's to come in season 2!
I can't wait for season 2! Season 1 was so well done and put together, I just wan't it to continue.

Season 2 is going to be an whole other level. More Mullin magic, the Titanic struggle with Notts County, Ben Foster, the women's team perfect season, and of course, the promotion.

I hope the tone of S2 focuses on the genuine aspects of the situation. I’m guessing some of the comedic skits in S1 where probably there to fill out the series, especially since Rob & Ryan couldn’t get to the UK for the majority of the football season due to Covid. Personally, I prefer their candid interactions with the townsfolk, the club and each other. Their growing passion for the game is obvious and one of the most interesting elements for me. Rewatching Season 1 it was a shame to see the moment Football finally ‘clicked’ for Ryan slightly obscured by the need to make it into a comedy ‘bit’. It’s actually quite fascinating to see something like that happen!!! Still a great show though, and looking forward to a banger of Season 2!

I'm so hoping we see lots of Notts County interviews and backstory in S2. We can have just Wrexham every other year forever, but when will we ever get a story like that again? Pulling for them in the playoffs. If they don't make it out they'll be the only team to ever score 100+ points and not be promoted into the EFL.

@@ackbarfan5556 That's not gonna happen, but I have no doubts that most of the season 2 drama is going to resolve around them. The powerful enemy, the opposing antagonists, the compelling opponents, the obstacle that exists to test the limits of the protagonists. Classic.
Great stuff, but I cannot wait to see the magic that will be in season 2!!

This is an amazing endeavour on many counts. The resurrection of an historical football club, but also bringing attention to working class Wales, which has suffered economically since the closures of mines. So many small towns show the signs of poor economy with many closed shops and many in poor condition. The only towns in Wales that are thriving are those in popular tourist areas or commercial areas like Swansea and Cardiff. North Wales and all its beauty needs more attention and investment. I hope that the attention gained by Wrexham FC will become infectious and spread around the country.

Beat Chester not Chesterfield. Two different teams and they haven't played Chester since the takeover as they are a division below them I believe.
