If I can recommend something to you I would recommend you take and build a proxmox server where you can run virtual machines and also docker containers so that way you can have your docker containers running on a separate machine
Plus with running Vms like windows 10 or 11 or Linux or Mac you and your team can edit on the machines remotely

Thank you! That is a great idea. I have plans in the future to get a NUC or TMM machine to do all of the Docker, VMs, all running on Proxmox, but for the time being and since the budget is tight, I decided to do TrueNas Scale, using zfs without the overhead of doing a VM in Truenas for right now. I would love to keep the Nas system strictly as a NAS for primarily editing files, but with compose files, I can always easily migrate our stacks to the new system when the time comes to transition! :)

@@d2wmedia... I feel you there, that's my exact situation too. Glad to see singing of your expertise making the same decisions

Did you have any NFS or Samba shares when you upgraded? My TNas Core install is the center of my network. I have two homelab servers that have NFS mounts back to it for their storage. I've been toying with switching (although I didn't know I could do it entirely from their install gui). Just need to make sure everything is going to work after the install.

We had SMB shares to windows systems when we upgraded to TrueNas Scale. Everything worked as expected which was awesome! They have good documentation on the TrueNas website stating explicitly what and what not will get transferred when updating. But, I would guess that NFS shares would be able to transfer as well since both systems offer NFS shares. :)
