    Jennisarries need a more historic re-skin and they should add steppe lancers to Turks stable.

      I disagree with the steppe lancers. The Turks in Age of Empires 2 are meant to depict Seljuks and and Ottomans, which were not steppe-dwelling peoples.

      @@inkarnator7717 I disagree too. Tatars represent Seljuks better than Turks now. Steppe war tactics existed in Ottomans army also. Crimean Tatars were an important part of Ottoman Army. You can see nomad lifestyle in modern Turkiye still.

    AOE2 portrays the Janissaries as hand cannon units. But there's more of it. They were experts in hand-to-hand combat and also fire and retreat tactics of Cavalry archery. their counterparts in the cavalry are known as Sipahis. the game should've included them as a trainable character.

      Even they need more damage since they are powder units. No man or woman could resist more than 2 shots from those Guns.
      Maybe all powder units need double attack and the same range and accuracy to be realistic.

      ​@@sqohapoe Low accuracy and no ballistics make high range insignificant. I don't think 6 range, 8 range or 10 range make a huge difference for janissaries. Increasing accuracy, giving hp or I think the best is giving 10 bonus damage against cavalries make janissaries viable unit.

    Definitely an underrated unit. Janissaries perform well vs archers and decimate melee units in large numbers.

      Janissaries is more expensive than all foot archers and they lost all of them. Also archers don't use any micro. You can escape janissaries bullets very easy because gunpowder units don't have ballistics.

    Janissaries in AOE2: Useless and expensive.
    While in AOE3: Authentic chads, no european infantry or cavalry withstand them and are very cheap depicting their great power.

      @@qwsa283 nah I main italians and if you get the right composition ur good. Hussar+genoese+ hand cannons and u basically win cuz they can't do anything. I just 1v2d a duo today in arena, in arena they're disgusting since you can fast castle and get 2-4 TCs way earlier whoch gives them a huge advantage really. Although none of that would be possible if it weren't for the cheaper advancing cost. Genoese are viable against high hussars and generally really good makes when combined with hand cannons/arbalests and hussar as they cover for each other and you also achieve a synchronized economy, with not much excess of any resource. The only problem with genoese is their inability to go against cav archers without anything, where hussars don't even cut it as cavarchs just kite. They need extra range and a little speed and theyll be op, but yeah way better than janissaires anything-wise when the costs are considered. Keep in mind foot archers also get extra pierce from the unique tech which also makes them better against skirms. The real sht unit that should be buffed is condo

    Janissaries' power is not in open area landscapes. In tight sections when several gunners are focusing on one target after another they can be hardly reached and even harder slain. If they gain some territory and step back when facing the opponents while shoot after complete reloading, they can't help being victorious.

    Janissary should be given blast damage and more accuracy by designers. Even regular handcannoners have infantry bonus, but janissary? That’s ridiculous. I feel like they purposefully do not boost janissaries power

      they need no tech to be effective, can damage buildings MUCH MUUUUCH BETTER THAN ARCHERS, RANGE is quite K, can do serious to group of infantry when massed. So they can be good. They just added OP civs without adjusting the Janissary, that's all.

    Janissary have high attack but his attack speed is too low.
    He have short range than archers at the same time his accurucy is also bad. He has low hp and armor, Moreover he is very slow and expensive.
    I think janissary is too weak.

      @@henrycebula4767 Hand cannons ARE better. The whole point of Janissaries is that you can get them in castle age. Elite Jans exist only if you have a bunch of Janissaries (Like 20-30) and want to upgrade and push to end the game ASAP (which is a good idea if you are turks.)So they have some purpose, though a buff would be nice.

      A bit surprising, but a bunch of AoE is Rock-Paper-Elephant. Paper beats Rock, Elephant beats EVERYTHING, Rock can beat Elephant if fired from handguns from 100 soldiers.
      But yeah, gunpowder bonus against infantry... IT"S SUPER EFFECTIVE!

      Janissary is more resilience than Hand Cannoneer, but Their infantry attack bonus is reduced

      @@AmmarFarisA Janissary don't have bonus against infantry, but they have 22 atk and that is their only strong point (they have also good range but the poor accuracy reduces that advantage a bit)

      1. Go to the Scenario Editor
      2. Make new custom map
      3. Build an arena so the units cant get away while making a video (optional)
      4. Put some units
      5. Click "Test" on the menu

      They were shooting with %50 accuracy. But now they have %65 Accuracy which is better. However there is still a lot of luck here

    With 60F and 55G, Elite Janissary is a terrible unit (cost/performance). They have terrible accuracy and nowhere to shine. Very hard to mass them due to their cost and is one of the slowest units in the game. Turks have no real threat other than bombard cannon and early hussars. This is an early imp civ, which is terrible in castle age and late imp. As an opponent of Turks, just swarm your pikes and skirms and hussars and they are useless, you don't even need your elite or other gold units. They are the only civ that entirely depends on gold, if you wall-block their gold, you can easily win against them. That's why people prefer Turks in Arena, where every player is secure and lame-free until 20 min. They are unplayable in any map other than arena, gold maps or black forest.

      They are far from terrible in castle age if you are able to mass Janissary with a few Mangonels to support it. Elite Janissary is pretty garbage. Castle age Janissary is one of the best castle age units hands down. Only the conquistador is at the Castle Age Janissary level. Elite Jan has no real purpose to research unless you have a lot of gold and a lot of Janissaries and want to end the game ASAP (which you should, since you are turks.)
      Of course, you can only consistently do that with Turks on Arena at high level. But on low-mid elos, if you have decent defense you can get to castle age and do really well.

      If anything, Turks should rather use regular HC, bombards and HA. At the very least, those can be amassed pretty quickly and both HC and HA are superior to jans.

      i'm pretty sure cost efficiency is not really the point of the video; more so how population efficient they are, which does actually matter in long team games where resources are in abundance

      Not stupid because sometimes, equal population is important. But that’s why we have equal resources series and total resources series on this channel.
