    You can also mix 1cup vinegar with 2 tablespoons of xanthan gum to make a cleaning gel. you do have to wash it all off though or the xanthan gum could leave a film. Mix it in your blender or food processor

    Toothpaste and vinegar will clean copper coins really well. Also there is a product called Tarn X found in most stores.

    Put lemon juice drop Penny's in and take salt shaker sprinkle salt it dorks amazing I don't put bunches of Penny's but they look brand new

    use denture cleaning tablets for 5 minutes and rinse without touching like fill your soaking container up and just let it run over for a minute or so

    I suggest you use an old toothbrush than using a wool scrubber to penetrate the grooves. Secondly, instead of washing away the ketchup, scrub the items with the ketchup and see the difference. Once the scrubbing is completed wash away the items. Pat them dry.

    If you are going to scrub them with the steel wool, why bother with the ketchup? Just wet them and start scrubbing.

      Lol, the ketchup makes the gunk easier to remove. Same concept with spraying a bathtub with a cleaner before you scrub. Let the cleaner do the work, loosen up the gunk, then scrubbing is a whole lot easier👍

    I have copper chess pieces and I cleaned them with your method, they came out well, except they have this white residue in their grooves.

    Why not use a sand blaster. Instead of silicone use ground walnut shells. It will clean and not remove the surface metal.

    Just don’t forget that cleaning valuable coins will significantly lower they value, so this cleaning should only be used on common coins.

      @@CleanWithConfidence Any coin collector and even amateurs know that you NEVER clean coins. Discolouration, scratches, swirls abrasions destroy any value a coin had.

      I taps also because cleaning will typically start to remove thin layers of the cladding or outer polish of the coin or what remains of the original polishing

      ​@@CleanWithConfidenceWell, your method of "Cleaning" is abrasive and strips materials off of coins. Any remotely skilled coin dealer will easily be able to spot that a coin has been damaged by cleaning.

    Try copper pot cleaner. Ketchup is an acid, can also put ketchup on copper pans

    I like to catch up at with the water, but instead of steel wool how about an eraser like on the end of a pencil and then one more thing was your coins wet, when you were ponies wet when you were using the steel wool?

    I used ketchup and toothpaste mixed together and just used my thumb in swirl motion on the coin till the junk comes off and it starts to shine.

      Come on people don't mess up your coins. Wash them under hot water using rubber gloves and in circles on coins that is it.

    Grabbing your coin collection with plyers and scrubbing them with steel wool is NOT something that will enhance your coins, but only destroy their intrinsic value!

    You had me until steel wool, tbh.
    Just spend a little more time dabbing the coins with a medium soft paint brush instead, before rinsing and air drying on a towel.

    Vinegar and salt heated up, will pickle them like new. Then buff them with a green Scots Brite pad.

    If your looking to have your valuble collectors pennies preserved and graded properly avoid the recommendations in this video. In fact use this video as a guide to what NOT to do to your coins. NEVER use abrassive compounds or steel wool on any plated coins, pennies especially.
    If your looking to clean your average circulated pocket change this will do the trick, better yet, vinegar and baking soda works just as well.

      Being that our stomach is loaded with a powerful acid for breaking down food I highly doubt ketchup will wreck your internal organs in the long run. Coca-Cola and lemonade we consume all the time too.. I would be more concerned about the effects of acid on my teeth and what heavy sugar intake can do...
