Cackle Hatchery® has the Silver Lakenvelder variety of this breed of chicken. The Lakenvelder chicken breed dates back to the 1830's in Germany. This breed was first exhibited in England in 1902 and was admitted to the American Standard of Perfection in 1939. These are one of the most beautiful in appearance of any of our rare varieties with their striking black and white markings and slate colored legs. Very quick and active and foraging widely if allowed to run. The hens lay white eggs and are non-setters. The name is referred to as "a shadow under a sheet."

The hens don't look very good. They should have barely any white in their neck feathers...
Compare this to the breed's standards from Germany, where this breed originated and how they should look. White feathers in the neck and tail area are commonly seen as a great error. Only lower side-feathers or secondary feathers (I don't know how you would translate "Nebensichelfedern" into English correctly) are allowed to show a certain proportion of white coloring.
Completely white feathers in the big tail feather are not allowed at all.
Furthermore, they barely have any black flight feathers in their wings. Another major error.
