I bought 4 of these as unsexed chicks from Cackle with the hopes of at least one being a pullet. They are 11 weeks old now but can’t really tell the sex on them yet. Not sure if they develop slower than production BOs but all 4 still have tiny pink combs and wattles the same size. I’m assuming they are all pullets unless this line takes longer for their combs and wattles to develop. But I know I can’t be right because I’m just not that lucky 😂

I have the eglu pro and I used zip ties to connect it together it was better than the floppy clips that come with it I used a zip tie gun and about 200 ties

Sumatras have a pea comb. It is not in between one comb, or another. And multiple spurs on the males is a breed trait.

Can rodents and predators get in thru the openings for the wheel raise/lower??

Since my state just recently legalized backyard chickens statewide, I've been looking at this coop as my top contender. My top concern though is how well the birds would do in the summer. I'm out in the southwest and we can hit 115F easily. You showed the vents, but I'm not sure that'd cut it. I was thinking I could put a shade cloth over the run as well. MO doesn't exactly have cool summers, but doesn't really compare to the Phoenix valley.

This breeding stock looks different than the one clip posted from 10 years ago. I prefer the ones from 10 years ago. 🙃

Amazing quality for a hatchery! I have raised rare, heritage line Barred Rocks from the Marvin Stukel and Jill Burk lines for many years. These are nice, very nice! There's nothing like a quality Barred Rock for eye candy. They are heavier and overall so much better than regular hatchery stock, that test pattern barring. But eye candy only goes so far if the temperament is sucky. I hope these males have an easygoing nature. It's very important since temperament is heritable-aggressive males produce more of the same and the best tempered ones also pass that on, for the most part. Any roosters here who don't behave would be stew, no matter how handsome they are. I've never had an issue with mine, thankfully, but my youngest hens in those lines are now almost 9 years old and all the roosters have passed of old age, so will be getting new stock in the next couple of years. ~Cynthia

I have the eglu cube, bought 2 years ago. Absolutely love it! Easy to clean and the dropping tray makes it easy to dump into theHotbin composter. Love the new design and larger space. Love the new accress panel for under the coop and the hinges for the door. Will this be easily attached to the walk in run? Just wish the price was lower, not ready to invest 1800.00+ after setting the cube and walkin run up less than 24 months ago. Maybe some day🤞

Why didnt they plan it to allow dropping to go onto the ground. The droppings drawer are high maintenance and less sanitary. Of course I am thinking the hut will move daily so droppings dont pile up,
