They weren't dock blocked. There was a boat on the other dock and they were standing around talking. There was no way for them to know that it would only take 30 seconds to launch that boat. The solution is to launch the boat and then hold conversation so that they're not blocking a dock. Just because they have a channel doesn't exempt them from dock blocking.
Well I mean to be fair, the kayakers could have easily gone to the other side of the dock and been out of everybody’s way. There was no reason for them to launch at the same ramp another boat has already occupied
@@Smexcellent11 "occupied??"... they backed up to launch and then just stood around talking. I was waiting for them to break out the lawn chairs and bbq. The kayakers did nothing wrong. Those "experts" took so long to launch the kayakers probably thought they were leaving... not launching.
I've never forgotten my drain plug but my fishing buddy has so we call out a list to each other every time before a launch. If I'm by myself, I call out the same list.
I'm a big fan of checklists. That's aviation's influence on me though. Good luck to all the boaters out there. Thanks for an informative yet entertaining clip and channel.
I tend to think that kayakers are often early in their boating career and just haven’t learned to ins and outs of ramps. I always try to be nice and offer assistance being a fellow kayaker. Really cool seeing another channel I watch launch though. No editing, they are just really efficient at getting in the water.
About time we see a group do everything the right way on this channel. I never got why everyone ties on to the dock, my main ramp is 6 lanes of ramp and 1 dock, if more than one boat was tied off they'd be blocking everyone from dropping off or picking up their driver
In the kayaker's defense. They couldn't tell if she was coming or going, just standing there talking. There was a boat on the other dock, so why not go to the empty dock?
I launched and sailed a 25' sailboat all the time by myself. I would rig the 31' tall mast in the parking lot, tie a long bowline to the end of my trailer, back it in, tap the brakes and ease out where I could grab the bowline and pull the boat to where I wanted it on the dock. Park the truck and set sail... all within 20 minutes. All my gear is already in the boat before I leave the house.
Sounds like how my wife and I launch. Everything is in the boat before we leave the house. When we get to the ramp, we pull straps, winch, and saftety chain off in the parking lot, I put the drain plug in and turn on the vent, then she grabs a line. I back down til the boat floats off, and she pulls it over to the dock while I pull out and park. Trailer is in the water maybe 15 seconds, and we're driving away within 5 minutes of getting to the ramp.
Thanks for all your entertaining videos. Owning boats and atvs being new owners can be difficult under pressure. As you stated practice first remember to just turn the steering the way you want the trailer to go depending on size. I was there once making videos more entertaining.
Had a Bayliner, with external drain plug, just keep it on the truck dash, or boat console, to let you know it's not in. Glad my newer boat, has a drain plug inside, lift up gar board. You can put that plug in, while you are under way. ( had to do it once), but... never forgot it on the old Bayliner.
A lot of Pearl clutching in this episode. The first one barely touched the dock and you'd of thought they came crashing into it. As for the kayakers they probably assumed the boat was leaving seeing as how they were just chatting at the ramp. Not everything requires an "Oh no" moment.
When I bring out my kayak, I am the one everyone wants to stop and talk to. Thankfully j can and do launch it from any beach rather than a boat ramp so I am not blocking anyone. Oh the curse of having a beautiful hand made boat.
Broncos must be a good friend of the yapping couple. They are blocking and taking their time, the sensible thing is to go and launch while they are deciding what to eat. Broncos Buddies.
It's a big difference. When you have fans they will come up to you at the most inopportune moments, I think she was being really graceful because they were literally minutes from launching their boat. Besides, the ramp is very slow and there's nobody in the queue, so no big deal.
I get plenty of inflatable kayakers at my dock will pull their car up to the single ramp, then sit there to inflate or deflate while the boaters wait to launch. It’s really frustrating
one thing about the van tapping the dock, it aint goin to slide into the Wawa.. another thing, the sizzle posers were standing around like the were hoping an admirer would come talk to them. if I was loading a boat I would have pulled in think inking they had already loaded and was screwing off hoping some poser admirer would come talk to me..but the main thought was, I thought this was the drain plug mafia, you now sound like the drain plug life guard.. you should get a little "check drain plug" sign and air blast horn to go with it.
Spending $ 5000.00 to $20,000.00 on jet skis. Ok. Spending a few bucks, and a couple hrs, making a flag/ pvc system, to stick out on both sides ,to enable visual backing, not gonna happen.

The 'drain plug' is supposed to be put in from the inner side of the vessel. It is called a 'drain plug' because when the boat is in motion going forward the plug can be pulled to allow any water inside of the vessel to drain out all by itself due to the forward motion of the vessel.
I'll give you $1000 if you can get the plug in from the inside on my boat while underway without burning yourself or getting your arm ripped off by the driveshaft. It's buried underneath the engine and exhaust Y pipe 4 feet own in the bottom of the bilge. I/O life.
do your videographers ever inform people launching boats that the drain plugs are missing or appear to be absent?? If so, what kind of reaction do they get?
Too much time is wasted at the docks by the majority of folks. They just don’t understand they are in the way once they are actually on the ramp. We practiced to unload and load with no more than a minute on the ramp itself. No messing around!
Shouldn't the drain plug be inserted from inside the boat? That's the way it is with my whaler, to empty the bilge I just plull out the plug and accelerate and any water in the boat flows out through the drain, then the plug goes back in get tightened.

Finger tight drain plug. Well......... Good luck
On one of my boats, it's metal and requires a wrench while the other has a plastic plug that is finger tightened. His could be the latter.

The first one have scare to sinking the truck he put it safe 😂😂😂

Common up here in WA where public beaches are not common…. I do docks and ramps about 90% of the time.

Serious question: Why does anyone remove the drain plug? Just seems like a large risk for only removing a little bit of water from the bilge
Keeps the water out of the boat when parked.
Some people store their boats outside, and if it rains...
A dry bilge is a happy bilge. Plus, helps keep from transporting invasive species from one body of water to another.
