Maybe Tayagum and Akuudan got married in private. Didnt the korra comics confirm same sex couples exist in the water tride, they just did so in private? maybe it was only until after Korra that they allowed it to be more open. Just a thought.

it is a shame that so many of characters are just from the roleplaying game and much easier shoehorn in outside of actual concrete story show/movie/comics but nice nonetheless that so many queer characters are included
