    Sorry guys. I think you got a bad piece of durian. Even for (picky) Thai people, we have to get it from a reputable place or the seller we know. The ripeness can affect the flavor, smell, and texture big time. Some people like it when it’s young, firm, mild, medium, soft, pungent, etc. Anyway, please try again when you can find a legit source. They might even offer you to try using your finger to poke test for the firmness you prefer or eat a tiny piece before you agree to buy it. I love your videos. So glad you’ve come to my country. Good luck!

    Cool video. Love the suit fitting footage. As for durian, it's not a good idea to buy packed boxes because you never know how long the durian has been placed in there. It's best to ask the seller to choose a good durian and chop it open in front of your eyes to taste it. Durians are yummie. It's a popular south-east asian fruit, either you love it, or you hate it. And I LOVE IT🙂

    ICE. Crushed or tubular, it's the same stuff from the same ice factories. All ice factories use purified water to make both tubular ice and large blocks of ice. The large blocks are then crushed. The way the ice is handled can be the problem, not the ice itself.

After all people and nature must learn to live together peacefully a lot better than how cruelly mankind have been acting in the past. Love your over views on showing us the whole gist of exciting experiences in the northern province-Chiangmai. Till date we are still wondering when are we foreigners going to start calling Bangkok by its real name, or has it become too late for the u turn. I am Thai, born in Chiang Mai. I have a funny story to tell you about Khao Soi. If we were truly northern Thai people, we wouldn't count khao soi as northern food. Even though it is famous as a famous food in northern Thailand. Actually, Khao Soi is made for foreigners and tourists who are not from the North who are not familiar with authentic Northern food. But it's more famous than real northern food. It's similar to a menu called American fried rice that you can only find in Thailand. It is a menu that Thai people made for American soldiers who came to base in Thailand during the Vietnam War. American fried rice was created because American soldiers could not eat Thai food in the beginning. So we came up with this menu🤣🤣🙏🙏

    • @yqtyc
      @yqtyc Před měsícem

      what food would you count as food that locals eat the most then? quite curious

    • @nuttsrisukplung1318
      @nuttsrisukplung1318 Před měsícem

      @@yqtyc Raw buffalo larb, where buffalo bile is added to give it a bitter taste. Laab in the north emphasizes aromatic spices, but the taste is not as strong as laab in the northeast. Grilled pork brain and curry paste eaten with sticky rice is amazing. And the strangest food in Chiang Mai is steamed rotten meat. The way to do this is to place the meat in several layers of bags to prevent flies from penetrating and eating the meat. Then hang it on a tree to prevent dogs from stealing the meat and eating it. Leave it for 3-5 days until it spoils. Then take the rotten meat and boil it with herbs that are added to Tom Yum to deodorize it. This menu simulates the situation in the past when there were no cars. In the past, people used to walk. And the northern region is famous for its many mountains. When people from out of town go into the city to sell things and then buy things to take home, they have to walk for several days. So you have to use cows or buffalos to transport things. Sometimes cows and buffalo walk on traps set by hunters. making it unable to travel further The owner would take its life and cut up its meat to take home to eat. But because of the long distance and having to cross the mountains, it would take several days. Causing the meat that was carried with it to rot. But with regret, I tried to cook it. It turned out that it was very delicious and soft🤣🤣🙏🙏

      No … Khao Soi is totally northern food. You can find some Khao similar in Burma called Khao Sew or something like that. Our ancestors made Khao Soi just for us but now we can share with people around the world. Don’t you dare saying Khao Soi is not northern food and compared our beloved dish to American fried rice. !!!

      Very different vibes I’d say, if you want a more authentic and more relaxed pace of life I would definitely choose Chiang Mai, the people are so friendly, food is amazing (markets too), it’s very safe, lots to do (day trips too), and the coffee scene is the best in Southeast Asia! Bangkok is a more hectic big city with more intensity. People are less patient. Just make sure you don’t go to Chiang Mai during burning season. All the best, you’ll have a good time either way!

    Chiang Mai was the capital of the Lanna Kingdom for at least 700 years. Some time the city was independent, but most of the time the City was a vassal state of various Burmese dynasties even right through the reign of King Rama I. When the British began to subjugate Burma and eventually abolished the Burmese King, exiling him to British India during King Rama IV reign, Chiang Mai was independent again but within a few decades, Chiang Mai King saw that Siam was beginning to exert influence to the North, the King decided to submit and even sent his daughter to become King Rama V's concubine. When Chiang Mai king died, King Rama V decided not to appoint a new king but put Chiang Mai directly under Bangkok's rule, sending a governor to govern Chiang Mai since then. Chiang Mai has it all, old town with several important temples, Wat Prathat Doi Suthep on 13 km up hill within 20 km from the city center and at the foot of Doi Suthep, there is Chiang Mai University, one of the four regional public universities in Thailand. The others are Khon Kaen in the Northeast, Burapha in the East (Chonburi) and Songkhla in the South. All four regional universities have all traditional faculties including Medicine and Engineering. There is an going project to propose Chiang Mai's old town as Unesco World Heritage within this decade.
    There is an annual Walk Up Doi Suthep about 12km trek held by Chiang Mai University to welcome new students. Along the way, there are bins to collect drinking water bottles/garbages manned by senior students. It is estimated about 20,000+ new and old students take part on this annual event.
    Wat Prathat Doi Suthep and practically all temples in the North and in Laos as well have two Nagas (mythical serpent-like beast living underworld) guarding the steps leading into the temple. It is believed that Naga King is the underworld ruler and is a devout Buddhist. Thus, sometimes you can see an image of Buddha meditating under Bodhi tree with Naga King guarding behind with his 7 heads above Buddha's head to protect him from wind/rain. There are also standalone Naga statutes along Meking River on both sides of Thailand and Laos, the most famous of which is at Nakhon Phanom with 7 heads. It might be noted that one of the largest royal barge of Thai King has 7-heads Naga at the front. The mortal enemy of Naga is Garuda (a mythical flying beast) which is supposed to be God Vishnu's mount. Indonesia and Thailand deem Garuda as high class mythical beast and Indonesia's National Carrier is named "Garuda". Garuda is also the official symbol of Thai King, thus official document would have Garuda symbol at its head. When there is an official royal announcement from the King or Palace, the initial TV screen features Garuda for a minute before the royal text appears together with reading announcement.

Flights are really cheap. I had the worst food poisoning of my life in Puckett, thought I was going to die there. I think it was from some chicken I had. Receiving a fine for not having the correct licence does not give you permission to keep driving. It could lead to larger fines if they have recorded the offence. More importantly, any insurance you may have would be invalid if you are driving without an appropriate licence!

    Nice vid, but you guys are a bit off with several takes. :) One, the red truck IS on a fixed route. So if you asked it to go someplace specific, off that route, no, they're not going to do that for you. Also, the "national dish" of Thailand is NOT Pad Thai. Most Thai people, in fact, do not eat pad Thai, or rarely do so. Pad Krapow .. is the "national dish". Though yes, Khao Soi, along with Sai Ua (sausage on a stick you were eating) are considered the most popular norther Thai dishes. Another misperception by westerners is that street food will make you sick more times than not. But as indicated, you guys did not get sick. Why? Because you were smart about your choices .. and the overall perception is not accurate. Actually, it's even a bit insulting. Generally, the vendors are clean, use refrigeration, cook with high heat, etc. Just be smart and stay away from, say .. sushi that's been sitting out all night. I almost exclusively eat street food when I visit Thailand and have yet to get sick. Not once. General rule .. eat what the locals are eating. If the Thais are not eating it, you shouldn't either. :) Lastly, you should not be surprised by the quality of some of the street food. Restaurant quality? Some restaurants are good, some are not. Vendors are the same .. and some are excellent and with long-standing good reputations. Bangkok has one of only two street vendor Michelin Star winners in the world. Happy trails!

      Don’t be so frigging critical mr no it all. I am not visiting Thailand like you, I have lived here since 2014. They are just giving their opinion, kind of like you are. Another fact you are wrong on, if you stop a Songthaew and make them an offer, they will take you off the beaten path. I have taken several to pick up stuff over the years. And Pad Thai is one of Thailands National dish, just google it or go to the Royal Thai Embassy website, or TripLegend web site. Just because the Thais are not eating at a specific restaurant does not mean it is bad. If you are so up on your stuff, which for the most part I think you are, start your own CZcams channel or vlog…

    • @aaronbux1
      @aaronbux1 Před měsícem +2

      @@lawolwrt2306 You sound like a long tourist. :) The Songthaew goes off the beaten path for a price? That's great. I didn't think it did. But as you know, generally, it does not. It's not any different than a bus for the most part, the same route over and over. And my Pad Thai take is based off the many Thai people I know who have told me Thai people do not eat Pad Thai, if only rarely. I don't care what an official website (aimed at tourists) says. And it's odd you criticize me .. "mr know it all" .. but then say we're both just giving our opinions. So I guess that makes them "know it alls' too? Lol. I wasn't even trying to be critical. Only trying to inform. It takes overly sensitive types like yourself to step in and take things down a worse road. Be happy, mate. You live in the Land of Smiles. I'm happy for you.
