I love the difference between how Jonathan treated Dio at the end of Part 1 compared to how Jotaro treated Dio at the end of Part 3. Jonathan, even at the brink of death, showed Dio a kind of brotherly affection even after what he’d done. He gave Dio the chance to die with someone by his side. Jotaro didn’t give a shit and let Dio die on his own in a more brutal way.
Because Jonathan knows Dio for years and forms brotherly relationship to each other, so it make sense why Jonathan act like that despite what Dio have done to him. Meanwhile Jotaro see Dio as a major recent threat because his mom's life at risk because of him and start to losing control his temper when Dio drinks Joseph's blood, and being angsty teenager didn't help this either.
Crazy to think that Dio watched his stand, his soul itself, crumble in front of him. For a few moments he knew for a fact that he had not only been defeated again, but that his life was over. No second chances, no victory, no ultimate plan. At the hands of a 17 year old kid from a good punch. For someone as egomaniacal and proud as Dio, with the history he had, that must have been the worst anger, pain, frustration, and fear he's ever felt.
Dio wasn't dead even with The World destroyed. They just left his body in the sun for fear it would regenerate. Moreover, destruction of The World was an integral part of his real plan: Heaven ascemption. "You are a human with your short lifespan, hence this kind of thinking that will lead to your loss" And Dio was right. It was this kind of thinking that ultimately led to Jotaro's downfall and victory for Dio's spirit through his followers

Bad translation. Da is a verb indicate existence, but basically is put for nouns when you end without a verb. Ga indicates the sentence object or to show you mean a specific thing or to show a state over an action. Kono Dio Da! Literally means "This Dio it is/it was!" and whenever he uses it he's preceeding it so it translates as "It was this Dio!" which is an exaggerated way to refer to yourself. Kono Dio Ga is a half sentence repeatedly establishing Dio as the object the action is happening to. Basically repeatedly saying the last half of "How could it happen to this Dio! or literally "To this Dio! To this Dio!" which correctly would localise into English as "But I'm Dio?! But I'm Dio?!"

So, it kinda made sense to use his legs, but they were fucked anyway, so he didn't really have any options. He got pissed and he tried something as a last effort to win, so I'd say he lost because of his temper, just like he got beaten by Jonathan when Jonathan remembered him of his old life at episode 2.
When you think about it, DIO's defeat was an effort caused by 3 JoJos, not just 2. Joseph guiding the Joestar Group to DIO, Jotaro obviously kicking his a**, and Jonathan for both beating the crap out of him at the beginning and resisting him as a decapitated body, giving him the huge weakness that allowed Star Platinum to finish him off, his left leg. Pretty awesome ngl.
I know this might be a bit of a stretch but when looking at Johnathan Joestar bs Dio he had plenty of pluck ( courage ) on his side but it seemed he always hot a little ot unlucky with Dio always surviving so in some ways he got unlucky especially in the final fight where he got outnumbered in a small space while he was attacked critically right away preventing himself from using hamon he lacked luck. In the case of Joseph Joestar vs Dio the only reason he made it as long as he did was out of pure luck like during kakyoin final emerald splash distracting Dio while also telling him the secret of the world allowing him to get some distance and escape from the world's range but not for long and though Joseph has shown courage before in this moment he was frightened by the world's sheer power and time stopping capabilities choosing to run away he lacked pluck But in the case of Jotaro Kujo vs Dio he had both luck and pluck on his side, he showed pluck by deciding to face Dio head on despite knowing it's broken nature and time stopping capabilities and Jotaro got lucky multiple times during the battle having dio being cocky and not finishing him off in one blow landing near a book store to stuff himself from protection of knives having polnareff jump In and save him at the right moment distracting Dio for just a bit ,anyways that's just my though on it .
I love it whenever bullshit like this happens in anime. Two characters are launching a punch that is faster than sound at each other and in the middle of that, they're having a debate on politics.

@@irregular_banana yeah, in part 7 Dio talks about it being 'what feels like 7 seconds' not an actual 7. I think if you move it eats into your timestop time but just talking doesn't. Its probably an energy thing, seeing as Jotaro can only stop it for two seconds in part 4, so moving takes a lot of energy only letting you do two seconds worth of stuff, but talking is relatively low effort so you can stop time and talk for a while

Shade Tavish The way I see it, Jotaro flat out said he’d annihilate Dio once his legs healed. Dio went for a surprise attack that Jojo didn’t expect in all fairness, but overestimated the strength of his leg.
He had also survived several fatal wounds by now and was probably conditioned to not regarding mortal wounds as mortal. He didn't instinctively regard damage as fatal and so didn't think to preserve himself when he made his final attack.
Honestly... they both knew they had the same stand, and DIO also acknowledged that Jotaro was advancing his ability to move in stopped time, and kept using it. DIO deserves this for being arrogant.
DIO deserved this because of his cautious mind during the first half. If he had simply let his ego take over for a while than maybe jotaro couldn’t adapt to his ability to move in a timestop. He should’ve been cautious during the second part to find a way to murder jotaro without being killed. If DIO was arrogant during the first half than jotaro would have a shorter time stop movement because he cannot focus on it because of dio’s absurd ability to pull shit out of nowhere to give himself an upper hand like come on where in the hell did he store all of those knives.

The greatest feeling ever is when you realize the reason DIO lost was because he kicked with his left leg, which was established at the start of part 3 to heal slower than the right. Since both of his legs were broken, he kicked with his still broken leg, causing SP's punch to do more damage.

I just realized something: When Dio is talking to Hol Horse at the start of “Hol Horse and Boingo Part 1”, he mentions how the left side of his body is weaker than the right and takes longer to heal. And during his final battle with Jotaro, what is it that ultimately kills Dio? *A hard blow to his left leg.*
Good theory, but you forgot that this was before he sucked the blood of Joseph. He also mentioned that he needs to drink the blood from a Joestar to make Jonathan's body become his completely, which he did.
@@temmielives2765 That’s definitely valid point, but when Dio is trying to get back up after Jotaro uses time stop on him, you can see that the only leg he’s able to somewhat stand on is his right leg, the left leg is still kneeling. Call it skeptical, but I think the reason Dio is kneeling with his left leg is because it hadn’t healed enough to support his weight, unlike his right leg. It’s only until after Dio blinds Jotaro and right before he kicks him that he’s able to stand on both legs, implying that Dio’s left leg hadn’t healed enough until right around he shot his blood at Jotaro. And from there, the rest is history. Dio tries to kick Jotaro with his left leg, but he punches back, sending massive energy through Dio, causing him to combust from within and die. But look at Dio’s body afterwards, and do you notice anything? Aside from his head missing, the left side of his body is completely missing, save for the leg which was dismembered when Dio started combusting. So yeah, even with Joseph’s blood, Dio’s left side was still weaker than the right. But Dio never noticed this because his ego had swollen after obtaining Joseph’s blood, causing him to believe he had already won the fight and became much more careless than in the first half of the fight, which payed the price when he forgot one of his few weaknesses near the end.

It would actually be "da". Da is the casual form of desu, so he's saying "I'm Dio!!" Ga would be used to reference someone, or basically "This is Dio."
I like the contrast between Dio's defeats at the hands of Jonathan and Jotaro. Jonathan always pities Dio, where as Jotaro goes all-out (in fact, Dio is the only person Jotaro every went all-out against with Star Platinum, with everyone else he held back) and has no remorse for him. Hell, Jotaro even says it right to Dio's face that he has no pity for him when he's about to finish him off (before Dio tries to get the upper hand by throwing blood at his eyes).
If DIO had won against Jotaro, he would've successfully killed every full-blooded Joestar up to this point (George, Jonathan, George II, Joseph, Holly, Jotaro, and Josuke). George II would've been the only one he didn't kill directly, and even that was done by his minion.
For those of you who don’t know why Dio explodes: Dio’s left side heals way slower. Jotaro gave him time to heal up so the fight would be fair. Dio rushes to attack, completely forgetting that his left side wasn’t healed yet. As a result, star platinum easily punched through his left leg destroying Dio ( I think that is the most logical explanation, manga readers plz correct me if I’m wrong)

So, it kinda made sense to use his legs, but they were fucked anyway, so he didn't really have any options. He got pissed and he tried something as a last effort to win, so I'd say he lost because of his temper, just like he got beaten by Jonathan when Jonathan remembered him of his old life at episode 2.
One of The best things about this, is that DIO’s last words are “Kono Dio Da”

When you think about it, DIO's defeat was an effort caused by 3 JoJos, not just 2. Joseph guiding the Joestar Group to DIO, Jotaro obviously kicking his a**, and Jonathan for both beating the crap out of him at the beginning and resisting him as a decapitated body, giving him the huge weakness that allowed Star Platinum to finish him off, his left leg. Pretty awesome ngl.
I know this might be a bit of a stretch but when looking at Johnathan Joestar bs Dio he had plenty of pluck ( courage ) on his side but it seemed he always hot a little ot unlucky with Dio always surviving so in some ways he got unlucky especially in the final fight where he got outnumbered in a small space while he was attacked critically right away preventing himself from using hamon he lacked luck.
In the case of Joseph Joestar vs Dio the only reason he made it as long as he did was out of pure luck like during kakyoin final emerald splash distracting Dio while also telling him the secret of the world allowing him to get some distance and escape from the world's range but not for long and though Joseph has shown courage before in this moment he was frightened by the world's sheer power and time stopping capabilities choosing to run away he lacked pluck
But in the case of Jotaro Kujo vs Dio he had both luck and pluck on his side, he showed pluck by deciding to face Dio head on despite knowing it's broken nature and time stopping capabilities and Jotaro got lucky multiple times during the battle having dio being cocky and not finishing him off in one blow landing near a book store to stuff himself from protection of knives having polnareff jump In and save him at the right moment distracting Dio for just a bit ,anyways that's just my though on it .

@@irregular_banana yeah, in part 7 Dio talks about it being 'what feels like 7 seconds' not an actual 7. I think if you move it eats into your timestop time but just talking doesn't. Its probably an energy thing, seeing as Jotaro can only stop it for two seconds in part 4, so moving takes a lot of energy only letting you do two seconds worth of stuff, but talking is relatively low effort so you can stop time and talk for a while

The way I see it, Jotaro flat out said he’d annihilate Dio once his legs healed. Dio went for a surprise attack that Jojo didn’t expect in all fairness, but overestimated the strength of his leg.
He had also survived several fatal wounds by now and was probably conditioned to not regarding mortal wounds as mortal. He didn't instinctively regard damage as fatal and so didn't think to preserve himself when he made his final attack.

Honestly... they both knew they had the same stand, and DIO also acknowledged that Jotaro was advancing his ability to move in stopped time, and kept using it. DIO deserves this for being arrogant.
DIO deserved this because of his cautious mind during the first half. If he had simply let his ego take over for a while than maybe jotaro couldn’t adapt to his ability to move in a timestop. He should’ve been cautious during the second part to find a way to murder jotaro without being killed. If DIO was arrogant during the first half than jotaro would have a shorter time stop movement because he cannot focus on it because of dio’s absurd ability to pull shit out of nowhere to give himself an upper hand like come on where in the hell did he store all of those knives.

The greatest feeling ever is when you realize the reason DIO lost was because he kicked with his left leg, which was established at the start of part 3 to heal slower than the right. Since both of his legs were broken, he kicked with his still broken leg, causing SP's punch to do more damage.

I just realized something:
When Dio is talking to Hol Horse at the start of “Hol Horse and Boingo Part 1”, he mentions how the left side of his body is weaker than the right and takes longer to heal. And during his final battle with Jotaro, what is it that ultimately kills Dio?

Good theory, but you forgot that this was before he sucked the blood of Joseph. He also mentioned that he needs to drink the blood from a Joestar to make Jonathan's body become his completely, which he did.
@@temmielives2765 That’s definitely valid point, but when Dio is trying to get back up after Jotaro uses time stop on him, you can see that the only leg he’s able to somewhat stand on is his right leg, the left leg is still kneeling. Call it skeptical, but I think the reason Dio is kneeling with his left leg is because it hadn’t healed enough to support his weight, unlike his right leg. It’s only until after Dio blinds Jotaro and right before he kicks him that he’s able to stand on both legs, implying that Dio’s left leg hadn’t healed enough until right around he shot his blood at Jotaro. And from there, the rest is history. Dio tries to kick Jotaro with his left leg, but he punches back, sending massive energy through Dio, causing him to combust from within and die. But look at Dio’s body afterwards, and do you notice anything? Aside from his head missing, the left side of his body is completely missing, save for the leg which was dismembered when Dio started combusting.
So yeah, even with Joseph’s blood, Dio’s left side was still weaker than the right. But Dio never noticed this because his ego had swollen after obtaining Joseph’s blood, causing him to believe he had already won the fight and became much more careless than in the first half of the fight, which payed the price when he forgot one of his few weaknesses near the end.

I like the contrast between Dio's defeats at the hands of Jonathan and Jotaro. Jonathan always pities Dio, where as Jotaro goes all-out (in fact, Dio is the only person Jotaro every went all-out against with Star Platinum, with everyone else he held back) and has no remorse for him. Hell, Jotaro even says it right to Dio's face that he has no pity for him when he's about to finish him off (before Dio tries to get the upper hand by throwing blood at his eyes).
If DIO had won against Jotaro, he would've successfully killed every full-blooded Joestar up to this point (George, Jonathan, George II, Joseph, Holly, Jotaro, and Josuke).
George II would've been the only one he didn't kill directly, and even that was done by his minion.

Dio’s left side heals way slower.
Jotaro gave him time to heal up so the fight would be fair.
Dio rushes to attack, completely forgetting that his left side wasn’t healed yet.
As a result, star platinum easily punched through his left leg destroying Dio
( I think that is the most logical explanation, manga readers plz correct me if I’m wrong)
