I don’t know about you, but for the past decade, home printers have become a bit of a rarity. Most people I know do their personal printing in the office
Not because they aren’t useful, it’s just that printer ink is more expensive than gas in California right now.
So, a cartridge-free, refillable printer sounds like a cost-effective way to bring printing back home.
This printer has a whole heap of features, but let’s start with its claim to fame.
Instead of single-use plastic cartridges, this printer has refillable ink tanks that you can top off when a specific color is running low. Up to 2 years’ worth of ink comes supplied with the box and refills are drastically cheaper than cartridges.
Connection can be via WIFI, USB or ethernet making it a portable or desktop printer.
Included on top of the printer is a flatbed scanner with scan and copy functions available.
Underneath is a handy tray that can fit 250 standard thickness sheets of A4 paper inside.
An easy-to-operate control system with a 2.4” display allows you to configure settings, print, copy, scan and send to external connected devices.
Using patented PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology, this Epson printer is able to print super-crisp text and impressive colors on both sides of the paper.
So, what do we like about the Epson EcoTank ET-3830 Wireless Color All-in-One Cartridge-Free Supertank Printer?
It’s been a while since we’ve had an answer to the printer cartridge dilemma and thermal printers don’t quite provide the quality we’re after.
We’re big fans of how much more economical this home printer is and the print quality is phenomenal
Connection is super easy, especially using the Epson app to configure complex print settings.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY ANY EPSON ECO TANK PRINTER. I made the mistake of not doing more research. This printer - along with most of Epson's ecotank printer has an ink waste tank. The more you use the printer the faster this ink waste tank will fill up. Doing print-head cleanings and power cleanings will fill these waste tanks even faster! Once it becomes full a message will pop up onto your printers screen telling you that the ink waste tank is at its "end of life" and needs to be sent to Epson to get it serviced. You will be able to print for a bit longer after that if you ignore the message but it will pop up again and it will refuse to print anymore until you get it serviced by an Epson specialist.
There are ways to reset the ink tank yourself but you need to do your research online and it's kinda sketchy and will cost you money every time you need to reset it.
There is also the worry of your waste ink tank really becoming full and if you keep using it you may damage your printer. There are also ways around this but you need to do your research here as well! CZcams and google is your friend.
If you've read this and still decide to buy this printer - I will say - Good luck. It's an awesome printer while it lasts.
Epson probably has this info in very very fine print somewhere but who really reads the fine print.

@@Revu2u Yes, You will need to download sketchy software and buy a key for every time you need to reset your ink waste tank (I've begrudgingly done this a couple times until my printer finally died after over a year of use)
I Just Got My New ET - 3830 Today ! My Old ET-2720 and the SOLD OUT ET-2800 are Now Obsolete. I will Learn All and Everything to Maintain it in Pristine Printer Order. EPSON Printers are the Best and More Practical Printers that I ever Used

Availability of consumables won't be an issue. The are just bottles of ink and it's easy to find aftermarket inks.
Just wondering if on first/initial setup can you fill the tank partially if low usage is expected? I don't want all that ink to dry in the printer if it can avoided. If the ink has to dry it's better to do so in the bottle than the printer itself (which may cause problems later)

I have good wifi and use it on my phone and laptop. But it got disconnected on my printer and now it won’t get connected anymore and I’ve tried every way as possible and I just don’t know what’s the problem, spent the whole day yesterday trying to do this and I run an online business that I have to send my packages out but I’m stuck on those because of this issue!!! There has to be a way to fix this! I just opened mine three days ago!
Try removing it from your phone and laptop and reinstalling it.

I miss the days of diy ink refills, 2 months ago I couldn't find my ink refill had to order from cannon and that would be cheaper if I gave a arm and a leg and first born. Printer sounds better than mine thanks #supertank
#supertank Would love to have this! Currently only have a monochrome printer because color ink is way too expensive. I’ve been eyeing these eco tanks but they’re also pretty expensive upfront. Still, they’re awesome home printers and I’d love to have one. Thanks for the great review!

i have the ecotank 2780 model. only problem that i have with epson though is that they are difficult to get tech support from on the phone and they won't readily honor their warranty. but yes i still want this one, the ecotank is a nice printer when it works. please pick me so i can replace mine with this one. ;) #supertank love you guys!
