A Flight video from London Gatwick, North terminal to Arrecife, Lanzarote with great RB211 engine sound on takeoff from Gatwick's 26L.
A pleasant 3 hour 45 mins flight down to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands on board one of Thomson's 757 aircraft. The flight was fairly smooth with some minor turbulence during the cruise. The crew were great and the cabin was nicely laid out in the 221 passenger configuration. The flight was full (221) and we were loaded with 16244kgs of fuel which is enough for 4 hours 47 mins of flying time. The first officer, in which it was his third flight on the Boeing 757, flew us down to Arrecife, he provided the passengers with lots of trivial information involving the weight of the aircraft in perspective view, quite interesting! The captain taxied with the use of only the number one engine and this engine was also shut down prior to the arrival in ACE. Notice on finals at approximately 44:45, the flock of birds just off to the right of the aircraft, certainly not too far off from the plane. The departure was made from 26L, Southampton 1 Xray (SAM1X) with a reduced thrust (assumed temperature) takeoff of 55 Celsius out of a maximum of 58 Celsius, so a fairly reduced thrust takeoff. We followed the Terto 6 Papa (TERT6P) arrival into Arrecife along with the ILS facility for runway 03, vacating with idle reverse thrust on the the rapid exit taxiway Echo 2.

Love the Captain's announcement, telling people how heavy the plane is and how powerful the engines are. I never they were powerful enough to levitate an 18 ton truck
One engine taxi departing and arrival is common now. We started doing it when oil started becoming expensive. Saves ALOT of fuel. Kept the practice as have most to keep fuel cost down.
Lanzarote is one of the best approaches if sitting on the left hand side of the aircraft

Wonderful video! Lovely cabin crew and flight crew and pilot. Gatwick is a lovely airport and Great Britain is SO beautiful unlike really anything in the also lovely US. I want to visit the whole United Kingdom and be a lovely US tourist. The 757-200 is a high point for Boeing, a reliable, powerful aircraft following in the very big shoes of the 727-200.

When I went to Zante, the Gatwick dutyfree shops were closed and no people were there. I went at night, and I got to see Italy and parts of France. It was stunning
I have never traveled from Gatwick at that time. It must be eerie and strange to see a busy London airport like that! :D

Nice one Conor! I tend to ask for flight plans at the end of flights as the pilots don't need them they put them in the bin.

I find it sad, i went into the cockpit of a 737 last year and the Pilot told me that Thomson is 1. Reverting back to Tui and 2. They are retiring their 757's :(

We went on a fast plane
Fredder8playsmc :D all commercial jet aircraft travel at around the same speed 500-570mph apart from Concorde (1300moh) which is no longer in service so the flight couldn't have taken under 3 hours, even with a tail wind
@alanrtment porter in a case of a strong headwind, they wouldn't run the engines at the same revs, they'd just reduce the power output. Going that speed would be dangerous

+SuPeR TY gaming Ask them when you board the aircraft, just say, 'if you have a moment, could you ask the crew if i can visit the flightdeck at some point. They may say they are busy and perhaps at the end of the flight but if not they have no reason not to ask the flight crew to let you up there at some point.
