If you can walk around in it, it’s not messy.
So true!
I'd call this kinda messy cuz there's stuff on the floor, but most of it is organized; there's not a LOT of stuff in there... def no hoarding tho! Drive through any neighbourhood and you'll see waaaaay worse! My husband says if you can't get 2 cars into a 2-car garage, it needs to be cleaned up. Sounds reasonable.
I hear that! My hubby has been trying to clean out our 2 car garage for over 5 years, haven't made a dent.
With a little rearranging and organizing you could even park a car in there that was not a messy garage
True.
Kim's version of 'dirty' and the rest of everyone...like night and day...lol
Lmao true! I have a friend who is like Kim when it comes to organizing things. We work at the same office and while my friend keeps complaining how unorganized and chaotic a lot of things at our office are, I keep saying how the reliable and structured environment calms me down. 🤣
Sorry, rank amateur in the messy garage department.
Aye, if you can see the floor before you start, that's called clean in my book.
Haha, same. When it opened, I thought - That looks really good!
Hahaha, not when you have OCD. That's a mess to me!
thats what my basement looks like! No garage.... this is clean Kim! lol
😂 yea my garage is WAY messier 😂🤣😂🤣
You call that messy? We couldn't even get a lawnmower in our 2-car garage.
Wish I couldn’t relate!!!
Deborah Griffiths ... right?? We have 2 garages and I have to move stuff to get to what I need, and then hope I can get it without breaking a leg or something!! Gotta pack it back in just right too...
@@cheryl9032 Yup, we have the same issue!
Honestly that's so much cleaner than ours
Lol we don't even have a garage
Yes! It doesn't come close to ours.
Are’s to
Cleaner than my parents!!
Ikr
That's one of the cleanest garages I've ever seen. You can't get from one place to another in my parents' garage without climbing over boxes, bins, duffel bags, chairs, tables, dressers, bed frames, bikes, cabinets, and other items.
I think your garage looks like the messiest MINIMALIST garage!
Uhh, no. Yours is NOT THE WORLD’s WORST. My husband’s work garage is way way worse. Lol
My kids laughed so hard when you said “we have the worlds messiest garage.” We merged families and my entire house is still in the garage .......3 years later.
My messy garage is from moving 7 years ago
Ha, that's no where near the worlds messiest garage. You can still see the floor.
That was exactly what my first thought was!
I was like that’s so clean. Literally there is a small pathway in my garage. We have so much stuff in there.
I know right you cannot see my garages floor
Honestly, that was the cleanest messy garage I ever seen
I'm always super shocked when a garage is never, ever, not even a thought, used for parking cars!!!
Right? Like, isn’t that the point of garages?
I like it so much better as a gym etc though!
My thought exactly! I live in New England……my garage has a few stored items but it’s primary use is for my car LOL
And now I’m having flashbacks to “Why You Gotta Have 27 Different Types Of Soap
My favorite!! I'm going to go listen now.
That not messy, my grandfather’s garage was jammed packed with electronics, that when he passed away in 1987 it took 3 months to clean out and a year for the basement
Sounds familiar - gramps hat 4 (in words FOUR) basement-storages - and two under the roof!
At some point (after around the 4th truckload) i honestly considered asking some old army pals of mine to do some "live fire excersise" with the artillery!
Mine is packed to the walls and you can’t even move in it 😂
Oh if this is the worlds messiest, I don't ever want you to see my garage. LOL.
Same
I'm just over here thinking garages were for cars....
No absolutely not
Lol
Eh what?!? ;)
Mine is 🤷♀️
Same. 😂
My parents garage was a Horder garage. It was boxes wall the wall and top to bottom. It took weeks to get through. But they did it, and went through a lot of stuff in the house too. They downsized to a 500 square foot studio apartment in our basement. They still have a storage unit to go through, but that's all they have left from their garage to go through. Your garage was a mess, but not the messiest. :)
Good job for cleaning up!
Every time I close my garage door, and it shuts all the way the first time, I consider it a win.
I like how the one thing that goes in a garage doesn’t even have a spot in there like where are the cars
But they have room to park them if they choose to!!
Rookies - you can still walk around in there, that's not messy at all lol
Hey Holderness! Im in need of a table Easel, (that’s what the babies easel is) are you going to set it out on the side of the road or is it in the keep pile?
(Update)
I was able to purchase a table easel for my art project and it was only 10$ so I think thats a good price. There we also big easels taller than me for 400$$$ AND THEY CAME WITH A FREAKIN UMBRELLA!!! (To paint outside)
Ya I would love an easel too :>
Who doesn’t like free stuff?
Your before garage is actually a 1000x cleaner than our garage, sadly! We have the motivation and cleaning/organizing/purging our garage was #1 on our list of things to do during the lockdown BUT here in our part of Texas we’ve had a heat wave for *months* with temps&heat indexes over 100° every.single.day!🥵(except for yesterday afternoon due to weather changes because of the hurricanes but gonna be hot again 😫) sooooooo temporarily permanently on hold...kudos to both of you on the cleaning! My youngest daughter is also into art and painting and I wish we could set up a little studio out there for her...hmmm, maybe we should invest in one of those standalone A/C units y’all were advertising...it would definitely spark some joy for all of us! 😜
{{{{Hugs to Kim re:depression, I hear you}}}}
I, too, thought the cars would be in the garage at the end, but yes, we all want Penn to keep working out, so the home gym is necessary! I like the labels on the Craftsman tool box drawers. I want a label maker!
PSA: Hide it! One of my dogs chewed the third one... COnsidering trying for a better handwriting ;-)
Kim: World’s messiest garage! Me:
😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣😂
Me: Rookie
Kim...we have the worlds messiest garage.....me....Hold my Mai Tai!!
Your garage is not nearly as dirty as my dad's. I can not even walk through his garage😄
Hahaha Sara, it's slightly better now, two "almost" walking paths.
I recently wrote "I hate it when someone's before is like my after!" on my bariatric support page. Same applies to your garage.
HAHA... I love how this is a "Garage" makeover. You still can't put a vehicle in it.
With six kids, if our garage was as clean as the before my wife wound be ecstatic.
My brother has five kids and it has gotten a bit cleaner as they got rid of some big ticket items. The best investment was the bike rack that can hold 8 bikes.
Jean Speckin not gonna lie, I thought you were gonna say “after getting rid of some children”
@@kroseandpen4671 no, they got a puppy to add to the mix... Thanks for the laugh!
With six kids? No way. I only have one still at home and the stuff in the garage that’s big and space hogging is all his. It’s all the sports equipment😒. He played every sport there is, including ice hockey. The bikes. The weights. We have built in cupboards, on every wall, floor to roof, which may sound great, but isn’t. Everything that doesn’t fit (all sports equipment except for gloves) just goes onto the floor, In totes, that block the cupboards. If you ever surprise your wife with cupboards, only put them on one wall!
LOL, my 6'3" husband just got himself a fancy expensive bike in March... Too bad the garage cleaning wasn't an early quarantine project!
I am so jealous! We moved into our house in 2007 and we have a garage full of boxes that we need to go through.
Just started opening some boxes packed in 2006 while tackling the big garage re-organization project this week. [Finally have real shelves!] Just wait until you go through yours - oh, the treasures!! ...and memories, both sad ones and wonderful. Have fun!
I wish I had photos of my parents' garage in 2006. No room to walk since the 90's, stuff had started creeping up the stairs from the kitchen, antiques along with boxes full of empty peanut butter jars, 20 year old canned vegetables.....all left abandoned for 5 years. Yeahhh. Your garage was not bad AT ALL.
Y’all are TOO funny! That’s one of the most EMPTY garages I’ve ever seen! If your car doesn’t need to live in your garage, it’s a place for storage. That’s kinda the whole point! 😂🤣😭
Penn should have ABSOLUTELY kept the bike!
You’re lucky you have a garage, in Hong Kong we live in flats.
I live in the US. I have enough space for a garage. I just don't have enough money to build one.
Kim: We have the world messiest garage
Me: it is
Until you look at mine...
I wouldn't mind the flip phone....need an off grid phone.
Yay for flip phones, which is all I’ve ever used, well, since I upgraded from the basic Nokia.
Then again, I only want to phone or text, not spend my whole life looking at a screen. That’s what my iPad is for! 🥴 Well, since I’ve been spending more time at home.
Shady?
@@renee2994 no not shady, prepared.
That looks good guys! No way did you have the world's messiest garage though!!
You should see mine. It seriously needs an Extreme Make-over. I've wanted to make a workshop in it for my husband and myself, but it's too cold in the winter and sweltering in the summer. We have nutty weather here in Northern CO. (We just had 90+ degree weather for several days, a day of 80+ degree weather, then a cold front & a snow storm less than 24 hrs later.) I haven't been able to start the project I planned for two years.
Enjoy your freshened up space!!
I feel like so many of these comments are going to be, if you can walk in, it's not messy lol.
I love watching you guys. It's almost like having real social interaction. At 75 I am really tired of this pandemic😜 Thank you for brightening the day.....what day is it now?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA my garage is the worlds messiest item, tied with my school locker lol
I love that everyone else commented on the same thing I was planning on commenting on lol. That is not a messy garage lol. definitely had some extra in there, but that was actually pretty decently organized lol.
You want to see a horder then you need to see my aunt's basement, house and car.
🤣
Kim: worlds messiest garage,
Also: floor can be seen!
Also also: Their garage is larger than my home for my family! 🤣
Me:Laughs like crazy, and then slowly starts to sob laugh... 🤣😜
(Glad you did so well! I’m a fellow adhd’er who also hoards /doesn’t care, but also who goes through bouts of tidying everything to the n’th degree of spotlessness)
I've seen waaaaaaay messier garages than yours. Kim, you haven't seen a hoarder until you've met some of my friends and relatives who FILL their garages COMPLETELY FULL from floor to ceiling. An eyesore SO FULL that from garage door to the house, you'd be lucky to find a trail around the stacks of stuff as you hope to God they don't fall over and kill you. You ain't seen hoarding until a super successful musician invites you to tour his attic and showcases his extensive collection of ALL types of synthesizers and computers he's used over the past 70 years of his life--- all of which still works and is being held onto in case there's a sound he needs to replicate or recreate for a song.
My husband is so obsessive about his garage! We have a 2 car garage and we fit 2 cars, a motorcycle, bikes (hanging from the ceiling), all his tools, boxes of outgrown clothes, and all camping/outdoor gear in our garage! Dude is or-gan-ized!
This made me feel loads better. We’re currently renovating and had to sell a bunch of stuff. Also just putting everything in boxes means so much space!
Do you want to come and organise my garage for me? Just FYI, I’m in Australia😄 Seriously though, great work.
NOPE SORRY KIM - that is a pretty neat space. You just need to clean a little and put things away.
We had a two car garage that for the entire time our family lived there (Over 20 years)... there were three paths through the boxes 1 from one "Front" door past the washer and dryer to the door into the backyard. 1 from the "Front" door along side my dad's workbench to the double garage door. and one from the first path between the stacks of boxes to the double garage door. The boxes were a mix of the typical 20 x 20 x 20 moving boxes and the wardrobe boxes. PLUS we had shelving on one side with more boxes. That space was never cleaned out until my mom passed and my brother had to dispose of everything before he sold the house. BUT we were happy and Mom knew what was in each box.
Today I learned people expect to walk around a garage and have Access to their things. Meanwhile, my garage has floor to ceiling shelving (2.5' wide shelves) all of the way around with the "rolly yard stuff" in the middle (lawnmower, tiller, etc.) We can enter either door. We just can't Exit through the opposite door. Lol
Great job!!
You have not seen a messy garage until you see mine! At least you can SEE your floor!!! 🤣😁🤣
Lol. I thought it wasn't that messy. And I wouldn't call you hoarders. 😄 I'm happy that you guys are happy with the result. That is all that matters. You guys rock!
Congrats Kim! You FINALLY found something to do during quarantine and has the power to do it!
That garage looks like a clean perfect room that is litteraly sparkling because of how clean it is compared to my garage
We just cleaned our garage, painted the walls and ceiling, mortared with cement the openings, tossed and donated stuff, put together cabinets and racks. It is better than the rest of the house! Now we sit in it with the doors up in the Texas heat and ride bikes. We are too proud of our garage org accomplishments. Ha!
We paid someone from the hood to put up solid shelving at about 8 ft. We also brought some solid cabinets on wheels from sams. Much better than static shelving. Buy a cover for the generator and a good security cable and move outside.
Worth the cost.
Awesome jobs, he and she Holderness!
It does look much better. But the original was SO not even messy. I'm our garage you can't even walk inching sideways. But your hard work, though not with absolutely no budget, is inspiring me to tackle our garage.
But maybe another day...😏
Do a skit where Rona talks to her friends the zoom crash
I don't know why we are competing for this embarassing distinction, but I think we win! Ours is full of stacked Sterilite bins that are very difficult to determine what is in them (kayak accessories, camping gear, sports jerseys: Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics - cuz I'm from New England, and Phillies, Sixers, and Eagles - cuz my husband is from Philly area, holiday decorations, wrapping paper & bows, costumes, cold-weather clothes that are only needed when we travel north from FL). And the items that I we are searching for that are labeled, always seem to be at the bottom of their stack. Plus we have leftover paint, moulding and junk left from remodeling projects and a lawn mower which is the only thing used on a regular basis.
You guys did an amazing job, but ours is completely overwhelming, so I don't even know where to start. I'm afraid that if we pull it all out to start from scratch, it will look like an insane yard sale on our front lawn!
I think you should have a FB contest where we all post pictures of our garages, and the winner (or loser of the worst one gets you to come film a video helping/judging our purging and organizing vs hoarding! Who's in?
We are renovating our garage. While the rest of our condo neighbors (53) all have white walls and white ceiling, we have light gray walls, dark(er) gray sliding barn doors (covering the closets), and insulated garage door.
I think the Holderness are the ideal family loll
Hey Holderness family. - Great job! My hat's off to you both. It looks a lot better! Have a wonderful day. Blessings from Michigan. Judith
I'd like to see an update in six months after fall leaf raking, holiday decorating, and winter snow shoveling. 😂
If y'all think your garage was a mess, you'd call the Health Dept. on ours! 😱
Kim, sweet girl he's right you are a cleaning goddess. You have no idea what an over crowded garage looks like. I have tools that I inherited from my grandfather, (I'm 68). But when everyone in the neighborhood needs a tool, painting supplies or random screw you'll find them at my front door. I like to call the chaos conservation of materials. Your garage looks beautiful, like you just moved in.
Since Corona I just started working on mine after about 15 years it and it's still a work in progress hopefully this torture will end soon. Yours was immaculate, before you started compared to what mine was and still is!
My dad's garage is like a nightmare. Literally lol
I almost burst out laughing when the door lifted up and that was the worlds messiest garage 😂😂😂
That’s cute.
Kim said it at 1:03!! Just in case I need it. 🤣 The begging to hoarding. Lol
Nice clear out! Just be aware - craft paint does not care for temperature changes...especially freezing. Been there - done that. 🤷♀️
My grandfather was the king of hoarders. I wish the garage looked as nice as yours! Over 2 years I have filled two dumpsters and still need another one. 😬 Eigjt broken toilet seeats were hung on one wall in case another one broke and he needed parts. These were the first to go!
Penn Holderness is my spirit animal.
My dad has the same tool box organizer thing
firstly, I had to actually laugh when you're garage door went up at the beginning (it wasn't that messy...to me or my husband 😅). secondly, I say keep the bike! 👍
The garage my dad had...
Two old cars. Wall to wall tool bench. Car parts, cabinets for the extra cooking stuff.
OMG! Read the comments first. Still was not ready for the sight greeting my eyes upon your opening the garage door! No wonder so many people said it isn't the world's messiest! Where is the mess?!? That would be a one hour or less clean-up for two people around here. BUT - it was fun to watch your makeover. Thanks for all your entertaining videos. And Vlogs.
"Clean + Jerk" written on the whiteboard-so my sense of humor!
I fear that even in Raleigh, Lola's acrylic paints will dry up in the garage during most of the year. Her art supplies need to be in carrying storage bins to be stored inside when she isn't using them or you will find that your are wasting hundreds of dollars in paints & paint brushes. Also humidity & heat will damage any paper left in the garage causing it to ripple, warp, & even discolor. Best idea would be to put her art studio inside & whatever was in space it takes over goes in the garage. I'm sure there's quite a bit of things in your house that can be put in the garage that are same price or more & won't get as damaged as the art supplies... (Just saying)
Ha, yeah right, my garage is way messier than that 🤣🤣🤣
Actually sitting in our garage right now attempting to clean ours out for Father's Day (I am now on Day 4) Your garage is sooooo clean. Lol
Oh please, that garage is nearly spotless.
For crying out loud, if you can't park your cars in your garage, it's too full of junk! Love you guys! You remind me so much of me and my wife.
Um, your garage was NOT that messy. Come see ours 🤣
"Zero budget" lol
I love how many uploads there have been recently.😁 You guys are so funny, you always make me smile, so thank you.🙂
That is a clean garage! Ours since Covid has become a dumping ground (even though we had it cleaned and Ready for a car since December, now it’s a play area when it rains)
My mum got into a mega-cleaning mode and now our garage looks amazing! We also didn't spend any money :)
I have OCD SO bad!! This hit me in my feels!! 😍
Love this video guys!! ❤😁❤
I’m sorry that ain’t messy things are not falling out of it and there is theoretically space for a car or an office extra ! =)
I WISH my garage was that clean. My husband is a contractor. Wall to wall tools!!! Just small paths to walk.
Ours is so full,we can't walk in it! We need you to come and reorganize our garage!
0:50 Little tiny artists😂😂😂
The best thing in the garage is the Panthers banner. LOL
I have the very same Krueger wood cutting system & mine is still in the box too. My husband will not let me forget it.
Not hoarders level messy :) Do a Holderness Family messy garage contest! With a t-shirt giveaway!!
Wow!!! You Both did a Great Job fixing up Your Garage... It looks Awesome 👍
Here's a thought: it's hot in the summer in the garage. Why not dedicate a room in the house to the gym, and then you can park your cars in the garage, which is what a garage is for. LOL
I live with a hoarder too. It's okay. Our main just backed up last night, so now I get to throw everything in the basement away. It's gonna be a hell of a project. I have to get a huge roll off tomorrow.
You call that garage messy??? That's one of the cleanest I've seen! Lol! Most of your floor is visible, you can easily walk around in there.... We have very different standards of "messy"! Lol! 🤣😂💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Your messy garage is better than my clean garage. But the art space idea is brilliant and I will be copying!
"The first step is admitting you have a problem. The second step is asking yourself why you still have a deflated basketball from 1986."
The deflated basketball with signatures by friends is a symbol and represents a significant moment in a personal history that does not want to be forgotten.
Like a song that recalls and evokes feelings and sensations of important places, people, and experiences from the personal past. Or like an old photo, in which only those who knew and lived with the person in the photo, remember and feel what that person meant to them.
Affective memory is a personal experience!
Cheers!!
My parents are so crazy, they park their cars in the garage. Their shed is insane though.
