- I take a look at BeamMP, the wonderful multiplayer mod for BeamNG Drive. We set up our own little tournament using Derby cars and all sorts of mayhem and destruction awaits.

So glad to see you doing some of this. Been seeing Beam MP on other channels and thought it would be perfect for your crew.
I assume the reason the radiator wasn’t working round one was because you drove in reverse. There is limited air flow causing it to overheat.

wow, didnt know beamng was that acurate? you´d thought if they though about that they would implement not having a windshield is slowing your car but I think you are actually faster without it lol

Beam does simulate air and air flow around/ through the cars.
@@williamking5979 is it a full airflow simulation, or is it just on relation to the tris?

Alex: my engine is starting to overheat but my radiator is fine what’s going on?
The reason you overheated without a broken radiator is because the game also uses air flow calculations to demonstrate airflow through the radiator, meaning if you rev high when stopped, you’ll overheat with a radiator, if you go reverse, you’ll overheat slower, if you drive forward, you aren’t guaranteed to overheat in the next 10 minutes.
This is another reason Beam NG is still considered ahead of it’s time
Yeah combine that with the crappy radiator on the Moonhawk and an engine that runs warmer than an i4, and that thing will overheat quite quickly
I desperately want to see you guys do some chases in this mod
Sort of like Hunt The Survivors?
That, or select cop chases or any sort of thing. Just would love to see them barreling around the landscapes in a game where the stakes for crashing couldn't be much higher.
Is beam open world tho'?
@@broklond Yep, it is. Atleast with the Beam MP mod. Although I’m not sure how many people you can have in an open world session at once.
@@broklond Yes. Some maps are larger than others (up to 2.5 x 2.5 miles), but the majority of the official maps are based on a platform of just about 1.25 x 1.25 miles.

yeah, if you Alex's old demo videos that were single player it had way more issues than now.

Why not!? That sounds like an amazing role in a demo derby! Pile a bunch of rocks or something at the side and have one player throwing them in!
As drivers are eliminated and removed safely from their cars, more thing throwers are added.

I was doing very well in the Derby but the game had an instability, counting me out >:(
Beam MP would be great for driven til destruction “races”. Could be first to a set number or laps or just whoever lasts the longest!
I have missed beamng and the derby videos so this is a nice combo of both :)
The Grand Marshall had 1 wheel steering the entire race and i don't know if that actually hindered me
this was brilliant fun to film, although a decent part of my time was spent around 15fps :/ even so, my perspective will be up after part 2 of alex's

Hunt The Survivors in BeamMP would be intense, though short lived if nobody's allowed to reset their vehicles.
You cooked the engine because of high RPM in reverse. So there was minimal airflow to cool it

The mattress physics are pretty impressive. It actually compresses when you drive over it.
Sometimes it's really funny when Alex doesn't understand the solution to his problems, but other times it's really irritating... This time it was irritating. Car overheated cause you kept going in reverse, so there's zero airflow through the radiator.
This will be an awesome series

Edit: seeing the other hundred comments that pointed this out it’s apparent Alex is the only one who doesn’t know how cars work…

I'd wager that going in reverse doesn't push air through your radiator, and there's only so much the ventillator can do?

the engine overheated because there was no air flowing through the radiator pegging the RPMs in reverse
Front-wheel drive is so much better in BeamNG, because the car literally pulls you away from any sticky situations, instead of spinning out.
Would love to see u try survive against all of them
You could use the thing you use to remove the debris to flip you car right side up
You have to be moving forwards to get air flow to the radiator. Unless you lost your water pump.
I think the bumper part is stuck in the first round because you're trying to get it in the wrong direction, and on the wrong side.

How about a derby race on the double 8 with the jumps? Or just a track race derby in general?

Does driving in reverse prevent the engine from getting the forced air to cool it?
Yes
most demo cars run no water, its a safety thing. when you t-bone a guy and the rad explodes, boiling hot water lands on a person, its pretty horrific. I saw it happen at an SCCA race once, knarly. bomber cars and demo cars only need to last like 10 minutes tops, and most cars can handle that with minimal to no water.

I am not sure you're aware of this FailRace.. I have watched quite a few of your videos (great videos), but you can increase the strength of the node grapper to pull out stuck parts. I know there's a chance of damage, but you attempted it quite a few times with that blue piece, without increasing the node grapper strength. You use the scroll wheel while holding the node to increase the strength. Just thought I would let you know. :)
he does increase strength, he uses it for driven to destruction. he was probably trying to be quick with it.

Would be awesome since it is a proper simulation in driving and physics/damage.

This is the first time I've watched a fail race video and got frustrated with Alex, you need to have airflow should've just drove round forward for a while to reduce temperature, otherwise good video

@@longbowxmkii Hmmm, Perhaps you guys could all design automation cars according to certain criteria and then demo derby and do various other different challenges in beam multiplayer? I think that’d be fun for everyone involved.

It's overheating because you're driving BACKWARDS.
For such a good damage simulator, beam really does a crap job at actually being any type of game. Nothing feels quite right like in other games, watching cars struggle along and die from overheating instead of damage just doesn't make for fun destruction
Beam isn't and probably never will be a game. It's a sandbox simulation
If you watch real derby's, it usually ends in a slow overheating battle, a bit boring but realistic. Also Beam is a car/driving simulator, not just for damage.
