Normal sudoku rules apply. Each 5 in the grid must have a 1 directly above it or a 9 directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn't need both. A clue outside the grid indicates the digit which has to be placed in the Nth cell in the corresponding direction, where N is the digit placed in the first cell in that direction.

Intriguing rules which took a while to get my head around, and a very satisfying flurry of digits once the sense of it dawned.

Finished in 67:54. Coloring what cells can't be a 1,5, or 9 really helped.

This one took me just over half an hour ... a slow start, but my first move was to colour in all the cells that couldn't be 5s and work inwards from there. A good example of a puzzle where it's really useful to highlight clues that haven't been fulfilled (numbered room clues, and 5s that don't yet have a 1/9 neighbour) to assist with scanning.
I highlighted *fulfilled* numbered room clues and *5s.* Next time I will try and highlight *unfulfilled* clues, as you suggest.
@@Paolo_De_Leva I highly recommend it - it's so much easier to scan for clues that can still give you more information if you're looking for highlighted clues then trying to see which clues _aren't_ highlighted.

A very interesting puzzle. Mark, you do say that you don't thrive in numbered rooms puzzles, but you seem to have amazing abilities in solving them, from all that I have seen! Thanks for this video. I love it when you laugh at yourself while solving - I find myself chuckling, too.
I finished in 66 minutes. I got stuck trying to make progress near the very end, only to realize that I did not read the rules very clearly. i thought that 1 or 9 could go on either side, so correcting that easily finished the puzzle. Great Puzzle!

Beautiful minimalisric construction. So difficult initially. It seemed to me almost a miracle that this magic geometry gave me enough information to solve.
