Even though it can take months to get of a mountain to some people, to most students it typically takes 1-2 months flying most weekends. I saw it done within a week. Basically, 50-70 flights off a training hill, which amounts to 6-8 training days on average, I’d say.

To the un initiated, it looks like hanging in a glider and flying.
To those of us that know, it's an entire lifestyle. Gliding is fun, but hanging out with other pilots, visiting sites and pushing yourself to do new things is what it's really about.
True. Although, what you describe is not exclusive to hang gliding. A sense of community and camaraderie is an important part of the "scene" in most sports. Surfers and snowboarders call their sports "lifestyles" too. Baseball. Soccer. Equestrians. Sailors. I don't know of a single passionate athlete who isn't attracted to a sense of unity with their fellow participants. And although I'm not a golfer or a bowler, I'm confident people who love those activities are also drawn to the communal element.

Well, yes, as a typical American patriot, my flag is going to be bigger than the rest. That was quite intentional. But, I also made the Australian flag bigger than the others, because I think you Aussies deserve a lot of respect and credit for the contibutions of Dickinson, Bennet and Moyes.
