Chomsky has been one of the most effective opponents of the security state, but there are plenty of times when his views are simply perverse. We don’t have to think of people as infallible, we just have to be able to make up our own minds and take the good with the bad. What valid points? the man believes childhood vaccinations that stop things like polio, Diphtheria and rubella cause nut allergies. He bases this off the incredibly scientific "ive seen a lot of kids have nut allergies now and kids get vaccinations" method.
if he had any brains at all he would have spent 5 mins talking to a doctor at least before making such stupid claims. In reality studies have been done and we now know what caused the increase in nut allergies was parents avoiding giving nuts to their children out of fear they might have a nut allergy. The advice now is to eat nuts while pregnant and introduce nuts to children early.

The fact that so many americans watch 10 mins of this guy and without looking into ANYTHING he's saying in depth are convinced he is worth voting for is exactly the reason you end up with trump and bidens. The quickest, most effective, way to tell a real journalist from a propagandist is this: A propagandist will ALWAYS draw your conclusions for you! A propagandist will ALWAYS tell you what to think! Propagandists alone will use terms like misinformation, disinformation, hate speech, denier, conspiracy theorist, etc. A real journalist, however, will not. A real journalist will simply give you the information as they can best derive, and leave all the thinking/decision making to the reader/viewer. It's that simple.

Video games don't cause well adjusted, well raised, well resourced people to become more prone to violence. That is most people. And that is who participates in the studies that look at the correlation between violence and media.
What we need to look at is not just video games as a cause, but the over saturation of violence in all media and the impacts it has on very NON well adjusted people. We have to have better research into this issue. And we need to be more honest.
Video games are played all over the world, kids don´t run around shooting people because of it. Of course if you´re already mentally ill, have a weapon and want to do something bad, then maybe you can get inspired from the entertainment world around you, such as music, movies, games. But the world of entertainment is not the main issue, because sane people can differentiate between fiction and reality.

The main doctor he used to reference for that opinion, Andrew Wakefield, has since lost his medical license for falsifying data in his study. It’s the same reason we don’t hear Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carey and others championing this theory any longer either.

If you’ve ever worked in a mental health hospital you’d know we tightly control what can be seen and heard be it music, tv etc because unstable people are highly reactionary to all forms of media. You need to remember some people are very fragile. Likewise with the addicted brain, I had a old bartender tell me that most bars do not have heavy metal or other super aggressive sounding music as an option to play because “like clockwork,” a fistfight would breakout. You sound intelligent & stable, but you need to remember not everyone has a brain that works as well as yours does.

young boys used to have an outlet for their innate competitiveness in a multitude of developmentally appropriate contexts, like rough-and-tumble play, physical challenges after school, low-stakes sports activities in school, and critically, regular proximity to other boys. all of these things allowed the more psychologically fragile boys to have enough social support and/or distraction to self-actualize their maleness, maintain long term friendships, have stable role models, and become inspired by personal dreams of achievement. you know, they got to have a childhood. I don't think male childhood is what it used to be, and a big component is a lack of physicality and a lack of space for natural male competitiveness. competing is how boys become proud and confident, to at least some degree. the crazy ones today just get a gun and prove to everyone that they can call the last shot at least once.

Families fuck up constantly. The solution isn't "family values". The solution is an overthrow of crony capitalism and lobby money via the elevation of MERIT / MERITOCRACY. What I like about RFK jr is that he is pushing science and regulation of industry. He rejects agency capture. But who will run the reempowered agencies? It needs to be those who are educated on the damn topic (with a welcome mat for criticism and public input). Let teachers run education, let the engineers design the highways, let the doctors and scientists -- separated from their existing industry owners -- run healthcare. Always with the love between families and kin being a backstop to corruption, but not as the centerpiece of the system. Talent must run the system. Today we are ruled by cronyism, nepotism, inheritance, etc.
