I've always wondered about what happened during the literal decades of time between Hama's escape up to her meeting the Gaang.

The idea of young Hama wandering the fire nation like some kind of vengeful siren, forcing fire nation soldiers and citizens to drown themselves is incredibly dark and incredibly cool

It makes sense.
What I love about this is that Hama doesn’t actually need him to willingly walk into the water. She could force him, and even demonstrates this. She WANTS him to do it himself because she doesn’t just want to kill him, she wants to cause him pain, she wants him to be psychologically tortured like she was. Fantastic.

This is exactly why I’d love to see an AU where Hama went home after she escaped and later trained Katara. Imagine a small army led by expert bloodbenders just massacring Ozai’s forces.
Okay but make it more tragic. Everything in the story happed differently. Ange did die in the ice. Hama escapes and gets back to the tribe where she meets a young Avatar Katara, who sparks a bit of hope in her, but with how isolated the tribe is there are no teachers for her so she decides to set off and get her some teachers On that day she was to leave the fire nation boats arrive instead of Katara’s mom sacrificing herself for her daughter, Katara dies in front of Hama. In a bought of rage Hama massacred the fire nation but not before the whole village is razed by the fire nation the only survivor is a little boy who fought bravely Sokka. Hama takes in the boy and trains him vigorously shaping him into a weapon. They make their way to the northern tribe where Hama takes to teaching blood bending to an elite group of benders, and uses young Sokka as a political pawn by betrothing him to princess Yue. Solidifying her position in the northern tribe. Then the earth kingdom is sieged by Iroh and his son. In the fight Iroh sees his son fight a child warrior atop the walls he scoffs at the earth kingdom’s weakness sending a child to face them only for the child to ruthlessly kill Iroh’s little soldier boy atop of the wall. Iroh sees the face of the killer as none other than Sokka. He vous revenge. Kyoshi warriors arrive in time to aid in the fight and take notice of young Sokka and train him further along side an orphan Suki they develop a deep bond as they look for the next avatar who is revealed to be an earth bender. Their search leads them to toph beifong a blind little girl who they think nothing of until they find her earthbending. But she is too young still so they decide to end the war before revealing the new avatar. They mount a very successful campaign against the fire nation using blood benders as a strike team they make it to the palace where Sokka and Suki fight iroh and Zuko. Iroh falls to Sokka and Suki spars zuko, only for zuko to kill her. Enraged Sokka beheads zuko. Suki confesses her love for Sokka with her dying breath. Azula seeing the tides shifting escapes by sacrificing her friends to the onslaught of blood benders. In the throne room Hama meets Ozi and his queen Ursa (who was not exiled due to Irho and ozi working together on the scheme to kill their dad.). The fight is almost a slaughter as Hama pits both of them against each other Ursa kills ozi. As Hama is leaving Ursa throws a poisoned dagger (the exact same poison she would’ve used on the king) striking Hama who ignores the cut and dose not detect the poison on time. Hama dies having completed her quest to bring the fire nation to their knees. She is made a hero, and saint by the people as she ended the war. Toph is revealed to be the avatar. Sokka is stuck in a loveless empty marriage to princess Yue, as he still yerns for Suki his myterd lover. Splintered factions of the fire nation pop up one of which is lead by disgrace princess Azula who attacks the water spirits in a desperate bid to cripple the water nation. Yue sacrifices herself Azula is slain by Avatar Toph.
If hama went back to her home the fire nation would come looking for her. Thats why she stayed under their nose

The former is definitely healthier since it’s proper revenge… the latter is just what she did in canon, but with a body count and more style!

Whoa, I never thought of mixing this song with Avatar, but it's perfect now that I see it. Also, I love how Hama sings screaming. She sounds more emotional than in the original song, and it makes a lot of sense. Poseidon was avenging his son, but it was probably more of an honor thing, while Hama is taking revenge for the deep hurt the Fire Nation was caused her and her people.
Oh, I never even thought of this song for a Waterbender (or any of the songs for ATLA at all) but that's actually!! such a good concept!! so well done, too, thanks so much for sharing!!

What I like the most about this is that she begins to bloodbend him but then stops and instead threatens him with killing his wife and child if he doesn't willing let her drown him. Like Jesus that is dark as hell.
i dont think it was the blood bending itself byt like the jeffery dahmering (sorta) innocent civilians

Imma be completely honest. I would LOVE to see an in-depth story of Hama's life. Like all the way from her time in the Southern Water Tribe to her life built in the Fire Nation just before the Gaang meets her. It'd be such a gripping piece to tell I think.
It is terrifying to immagine a water bender with the raw power to be able to sink an island with tidal waves, even with the full moon that is avatar state level stuff.

The use of actual scenes from ATLA in Hama's episode makes this even better.
The scene and perspective from 0:43 is literally when Hama was bloodbending Katara and the hand movements Hama uses is accurate to bloodbending. And there is definitely a scene of Katara similar to the one at 0:35, I absolutely love this!!!

This is absolutely gorgeous, one of the most intense animatics I've seen. I love Hama and her story and lust for revenge. It's all encapsulated here in this animatic: her blank eyes, her numb stare, her scream-singing, and her resolve. Incredible animatic 🖤

This is a PERFECT crossover! It didnt even cross my mind how well a waterbender/firebender crossover would work with this song
Amazing, of course it helps that you're using the version by Morgan which is so raw, but you show Hama's emotion very effectively. Plus you've got a good handle on animating both waterbending and blood bending and it's chilling how she can compel people to drown themselves. This guy can't escape, and she's deliberately dragging it out for maximum terror and psychological torture before killing him, you convey it marvelously well.

I will forever defend Hama, she did not deserve to be put back in prison. She created blood bending, which could be vital in medical contexts and yet it’s just not. It’s relegated to being evil.
Blood bending is corupthing the more you use it the more muderus you become.

Even though Hama was a villian she did made blood bending and was on a revenge path and was looking for a sucessor and so she found Katara.
I do feel bad for what had happened to her she was basically taken away from her home and was imprisoned by the fire nation and probably watched her friends in the cells either being mistreated badly or dying.
Hamas expression at 0.30 is incredible. Well done!

While small Fire Nation towns in the interior of the country speak of a witch that kidnaps townsfolk when the moon is full, the fishing hamlets on the coast speak of a similar being. A vendgeful water spirit that would drown any poor soul unfortunate enough to attract her ire. Though this water spirit was not picky when it came to her victims, she seemed to have favored Fire Nation soldiers, especially those who had made expeditions to the south pole in their hunt for water benders.
While it has been decades since the water spirit had last claimed a victim, locals still leave small offerings by the shore and warn their children to never linger in the sea alone... lest the vengeful water spirit return.

It’s a child named Hama. She was captured by the fire nation, because she was a water bender. She learned that where there is life, there is water. She would bend the blood of the rats in her cage and when she masted the rats, she bended the men’s blood to escape. This is probably after that.

We know that expert bloodbenders can bloodbend anytime thanks to kora, so imagine if hama trained her skills far beyond. That would basically end with zuko, iroh, and the entire fleet dead. Hell, if an expert bloodbender chose to sneak into the fire nation, and somehow got into the royal palace, they could end the entire war all by themselves. Just forcing the guard to slaughter eachother, unable to resist.
