Awesome vid, I’m 58 & have only had Sportsters, currently riding a 1995 1200 that’s in showroom condition. It’s a great bike & I ride it pretty hard & it’s never let me down, never one issue. I consider myself a Sportster fanatic, love em. Nice job putting that together!

@@jamessmith5970 I have had a 2002 shadow ace 750 and now have a 1996 shadow ace 1100. I also have a 1996 stage 4 sporty. I miss the ace 750 with its nice wide bars but when you sit on the 1100 ace with its single pin engine and my 1200 sporty the feel is completely different. The sporty just thumps and vibrates so much you know its alive and it feels more dense in weight even if both bikes are pretty much the same wet weight.

I love how the Sportster has kinda gotten the moniker of a "girls bike". Yet it has been H-D's most reliable and most successful platform ever. The Evo Sportster is by far the best motorcycle they have ever made.

I am 76 years old, I bought and still have my 1968 XLCH 900cc Sporty that I purchased new from Rieman's Harley Davidson in Kewanee, Illinois. Roger Rieman was a top road racer at the time and the main mechanic for Evil Knievel when he was doing his jumps. His dad Henry owned the business and sold me the bike, Roger worked in the shop when he wasn't going to race events. I had bought a BSA Gold Star 500 cc bike a few months before, was riding home from work one night and got passed by two Sportsters, I cut the BSA loose but couldn't begin to keep up with them. The next day I went and traded it in for the Sporty Henry wanted to know what was wrong with it because it had so few miles on it. I told him the story about being passed and left in the dust and I said that is not happening again. Henry said you won't have to worry about that happening again. To this day it hasn't. I love my bike and to me there is nothing close to it. It might be considered a "girls' bike" but any babe that buys one of these better be "one tough mama" and know how to handle it.

I had a similar experience on my CB360T when I was 16. I bought my first motorcycle by making summer money in 1985 shaping Christmas trees on a large tree farm. Paid $250 for the used bike in nice condition. I thought I was all that and a bag of chips on it until being left for dead by a V-65 Magna or something. I was tucked in and at full redline in top gear hitting 90 mph (likely closer to 80) as I saw the motorcycle in my rear view mirror getting closer. It blew by me like I was sitting still. I had that bike a while longer and then bought a VF500R Interceptor that was like a space ship in comparison. That alone was mind blowing. I've had hundreds of bikes since then going through at least 10 a year most of my life but recently bought a slightly used 2007 Sportster 883 with Vance and Hines mufflers. The bike sounds incredible and handles great. More than enough power. First year EFI. The crazy thing is that with just 4k miles and not a scratch on it I got it down from 3k to 2.5k and it is one of the cheapest motorcycles I have ever bought besides the 360 decades ago. And it is perfect. Less then the price of a CT125 Honda Trail. This honestly blows my mind but I'm not complaining. I wish I had this bike in 1985!

I think that Harley is making a huge mistake ditching these bikes. The very least they could have done is given the new bike the same style engine with wet heads. The Japanese cruisers look better than the new S model. I'm on my second sportster and have a 98 Fatboy, love the look of all the air cooled engines and particularly the Evo. I guess time will tell.

I had a 2000 fxst for a while but always wanted a sportster. Long story short, I had to trade the bike for a truck capable of towing a fifth wheel. My local Harley dealer had a 2002 sportster 1200c for less than 5k and I took it. I’ve been riding since I was 16-17 and let me tell you, the sportster is the best bike I’ve ever ridden.

It takes bars and forward controls to make it work... but then again I add 14" bars to my big touring bikes too. 35k miles in the past couple years touring....recently got another Sportster and getting it dialed in parts wise to fit me... seat, bars, and forward controls... and it really revives the pure joy of riding...a Sportster is just something I'll always have I hope. • @raybrensike42
    @raybrensike42 Před 8 měsíci

What Harley could do, is give the Sportster water cooling in combination with the air cool fins like Triumph has done, which would allow for a smaller radiator that easily hides. Just look at what Triumph did with theirs.
Then, what the 48 needs is a real rear suspension, keeping the low seat height, if they need to cut the frame to do it. I think that would result in just about the perfect Sportster, that is, if they would go back to the transmission being mounted on a door, and maybe go back to a 4 speed. Why shift all the time? If 4th isn't high enough for the Montana interstate, just make 4th taller. Space out the gears. The motor will pull through. That's 1/2 the fun of it.
Some might think that Sportsters are not fast, but did you know that it's most likely the fastest bike you will find, size for size, from idle on up to about 3,000 rpm,? Isn't that where a lot of us like to ride anyway? Why be slow from idle to 3000? Let the others get to the end of the 1/4 mile first. Who cares? I don't do my riding at 10,000 rpm.
If Harley loses the Sportster, it loses. To move ahead, move back, I say.
Some people have fun on a 50cc scooter. Can you have fun on a scooter? Sure you can, especially if it's a Harley. (1200)

I hope not!!! Love my 2 sporties.. those tried and true evo motors. Such great bikes. My 1st road bike was an ironhead. I prefer my sporties over my big twin. Someone call the devil...ill sell my soul to keep the sporty line alive lol

The Evo sportster 1200 is the last of the authentic Harleydavidson engine's. It is a push rod motor with gear driven cams and its 74 cubic inches was the standard for like 40 years. The revolution motor is a Honda with Harley painted on it I think they are going down the toilet with this one. They should talk to their customers sometime he'll we could have told them the electric one would fail. Get woke go broke.

Here after the new reveal. Sad to see Sportsters go that way in my opinion. I suppose its evolution of the brand but they're losing their edge.

When they stop making the present-day Sportster, that is the day Harley dies.

It's hard to believe Harley would eliminate an icon like the Sportster. It makes me wonder if Harley management hasn't been invaded by the woke mob.

If H-D is dumb enough to kill the Sportster, or try to replace it with something that does not have the classic Sportster feel (vibration) and sound, then they deserve to die. They've already ruined their full size models with the smooth quiet almost Goldwing like motor. The Sportster was the only real Harley left. If it goes away, Harley is dead. H-D seems bound and determined to commit suicide.

Harleys still going to produce the sportster. They’re just taking it out of EU. The sportster still sells extremely well. They wont axe it unless they absolutely have to.

They were always desperate bikes. Bad brakes, bad suspensions...desperate.
