    We are a band of brothers, united one and all
    Throughout the sunny south land, we hear our country call
    We come Alabama, and Louisiana too
    From Tennessee and Georgia, ‘neath our Bonnie Flag of blue
    Hurrah! Hurrah! For Dixieland, hurrah! Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!
    The mountains of Virginia, so proud beneath the eye
    Below the Mason-Dixon Line, her fair Palmetto flies
    And Florida, we greet you, with summer all year round
    From Texas and from Arkansas, our fortunes will be found
    Hurrah! Hurrah! For Dixieland, hurrah! Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!
    From every town and city, from every walk of life
    The rich man and the poor man, the farmer and his wife
    Wherever we may wander, whatever we may do
    We’re all bound together ‘neath our Bonnie Flag of blue
    Hurrah! Hurrah! For Dixieland, hurrah! Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!
    They say in old Kentucky, the horses all are fleet
    Hats off to Mississippi, where all the girls are sweet
    And here’s to South Carolina, and North Carolina too
    We’re all bound together ‘neath our Bonnie Flag of blue
    Hurrah! Hurrah! For Dixieland, hurrah! Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!

    This reads like a de-rebel version from after the war. They have removed the words about ‘southern rights’ and ‘northern treachery’ and the order of the states in joining the Confederacy. I have seen two other versions that completely changed the lyrics so that it supported the Stars and Stripes and the UNion armies., these date from the Civil War.

    Lyrics:
    Unfortunately I could not find this version! But this version is very similar!
    We are a band of brothers and native to the soil,
    Fighting for the property we gained by honest toil;
    And when our rights were threatened, the cry rose near and far,
    "Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!"
    Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah!
    Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
    As long as the Union was faithful to her trust,
    Like friends and like brothers both kind were we and just;
    But now, when Northern treachery attempts our rights to mar,
    We hoist on high the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
    Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah!
    Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
    First gallant South Carolina nobly made the stand,
    Then came Alabama, who took her by the hand;
    Next quickly Mississippi, Georgia and Florida,
    All raised on high the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
    Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah!
    Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
    Ye men of valor, gather round the banner of the right,
    Texas and fair Louisiana join us in the fight;
    Davis, our loved president, and Stephens statesman are,
    Now rally round the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
    Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah!
    Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
    And here's to old Virginia, the Old Dominion State,
    Who with the young Confederacy at length has linked her fate;
    Impelled by her example, now other states prepare,
    To hoist on high the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
    Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah!
    Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
    Then cheer, boys, cheer, raise the joyous shout,
    For Arkansas and North Carolina now have both gone out;
    And let another rousing cheer for Tennessee be given,
    The single star of the Bonnie Blue Flag has grown to be eleven.
    Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah!
    Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
    Then here's to our Confederacy, strong are we and brave,
    Like patriots of old we'll fight our heritage to save;
    And rather than submit to shame, to die we would prefer,
    So cheer for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
    Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah!
    Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

Just like a bad tune is always gonna be a bad one. With that said, ive heard no version of Bonnie Blue Flag, that is better than the one (The Smith brothers) recorded. Even this older version,.. it sucks. In compare with the Smith brothers, all the other versions lacks in both lyrical aspects, aswell instrumental. Hear it out if you haven't! =□
