Sometimes I don’t feel like most of those guys had Elvis best intentions at heart. Now you need to watch Sally Hoedels interview about her research about Elvis’ health and how it all connects onto why Elvis needed medication.
I have the book and just started reading it. I have heard great things about it.😢 I know Elvis got himself into the money problem because he couldn't say no to anyone in need. Those Memphis mafia got cars, houses, paid vacations, it goes on and one. He was such a giving person and he never told anyone about the operations, wheelchairs, prisoners he visited and found out if they were married and how many kids they had and for Christmas every child had a present and a tree delivered to the house and a check given to the wife and had them check up on thru the year to make sure the rent or food or whatever the need until the father was released from jail. This man was just a human and had his faults but his voice showed how he felt inside. Elvis will never die. Elvis favorite scripture in the Bibke was "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but lose his soul." I have heard him say this on more than one interview.
It didn't help that his ex-wife kept going back for more divorce money even though Elvis gave her everything she wanted...

Strange thing in this video Joe Esposito said, he couldn’t do mouth-to-mouth resuscitation because Elvis’s mouth was closed shut. But in another interview from a few years prior he said, he gave mouth to mouth resuscitation, he was trying to revive Elvis while waiting for the fire department to show up. Through the years Joe and some people who were there stories changed about Elvis death...it is sad that many took advantage of his kindness. Elvis was beautiful inside out. I love him forever ❤

I've seen this many times and it still breaks my heart! Elvis was plunged into fame so quickly! He had lots of pressure on him! No artist today could keep the schedule Elvis did! Show after show, recording albums at the same time! He felt responsible to take care of his mafia and their families and had to keep working! Not much help for addiction back then! Just saying "stop" to someone with an addiction is not going to work! Elvis also had health issues and pain caused by a mega colon, so he ft he needed the meds! It's just soooo sad! 😢😢😢
Well said.... He brought so much happiness to his fans ... But like a minister shared on his show a few months ago, that Elvis wanted to meet him, even though he didn't say what year. He shared that " Elvis was so kind, famous , handsome but was one of the loneliest person he had ever met" That seems to sum up his life. Sure do miss him 💕
Elvis was in real physical pain. I don't think any of us are in a place to judge what he did or didn't do. How much physical and psychological pain he was actually experiencing. They have discovered so much more about how ill he truly was.
He was so dear to me. I was just 15 on that sad day. I was listening to Moody Blie and How Great Thou Art at the very time of his passing. I heard the news right afterward. I cried for a week. In 2010, I finally made a trip to Graceland. I felt Elvis so strongly. I took him some flowers, I knelt and sobbed telling how much I love him. I still sob from time to time. I never met him, but I felt like I knew him. He revealed so much of his true self when he sang.
God bless him. He gave me more than I could articulate.

Elvis was and always will be far, far more than just an entertainer to me. I have read, listened to, watched and researched everything I could get my hands on about him. I also belong to every Fan Club that exits and there are many. At my age (74) I have Elvis playing all day and listen to him while I sleep. I thank God for loaning Elvis to us all for the time we had him. You showed such lovely facial expressions during this video, and also your distain at hearing many of the hardships he had to endure. In my heart, which will always love and miss him, I feel that he was horribly used and abused and sad to say, by many of the people who he loved and trusted. I hope you make a deep dive into his life and then, trust me, you will love him for the incredible, beautiful soul he was. Thank you so much. You did a very good job sharing this and your thoughts. Please do his Post Army interview Graceland 1960. See him actually talking. I hate this documentary because so much info has come out about his health. Besides some of guys had an axe to grind, some were fired before he died. Some were jealous. Some were bitter. Elvis was born sick and had little medical attention because of poverty. He lost his twin at birth and had the Alpha 1 gene. His mothers parents were first cousins. They all inherited the same illnesses, heart disease, liver disease and lung problem. In 1969 Elvis developed early onset glaucoma and had emergency surgery to save his right eye. He died at 42, his mother died at 46 and her two brothers died in their 40's. This is documented in the book by Sally Hoedel, "Elvis Presley Destined to Die Young". Had he never taken a drug he would have still died in his 40's. The Las 3 years of his life he took pain killers because he had pain, in his lungs and used an inhaler before singing, he had two small heart attacks, in 75 as Larry Yelled his hair dresser said he had a heart attack , right in front of him and wouldn't let him call a doctor. He also told backup singer Kathy Westmoreland that he would be died by 40. The mafia, jockied for his attention, and I blame to of them for his sadness when they were let go by Vernon, wrote a hateful book about him. His daughter Lisa Marie, called them slithering bastards. He had given them homes cars, and much of what they had. I'm sorry but this is throwing dirt by the very people he loved.

This man was sick and still trying to do his concerts to pay for the cars, houses, jewelry, vacations, the list goes on and on. How much fun they had, fun, fun, fun. And who paid for the fun? Sorry, I vented.

The manager was taking 50% of everything Elvis earned, evil snake. He had him play 2-3 shows a night, at the pace Elvis did his shows, dancing & singing is hard for only one show a night. The Colonel didn't care. He was the one telling Dr Nick to give him the prescribed meds. Dr Nick was struck off the register. After Elvis died, the Colonel was sued for all the excess money he took off Elvis. But Elvis had to pay his band out of his share. The Colonel tried to plead immunity but he settled out of court. He died 2 years later spending his money in slot machines and gambling. HE played a huge part in Elvis's health and subsequent death.

Linda Thompson, Elvis GF once said that Elvis told her that he got saved at aged 9 through Jesus Christ. That right there, gave me the confirmation that Elvis is surely in Heaven as I write this.

Thank you for sharing this documentary with us. I saw it three times now, and it touched me everytime. I am a german Elvis fan since the year Elvis died in 1977. I was 9 years old and explored Elvis on a german radio show that´s called International Hitparade. Elvis with his last hit Way Down. I´ve heard his voice for the first time, not knowing who he is. But I´ve known emmediately that this man is special. Than I saw a picture of him, boom, I adored him; I was a fan till today and for the rest of my life and beyond. As a german I can answer your question what Sauerkraut is. It is fermented white cabbage. It´s part of a german traditional meal. The entire meal is known as pork knuckle with sauerkraut. Elvis probably known it from his time in Germany, when he was in service here. In adddition that´s the reason why the english soldiers back in worldwar two called us Germans Krauts, maybe they still do it, I don´t know.

When I first heard that Elvis passed away, at first, I was in denial! I watched the news reports, the special that they played in tribute to Elvis and I was still in denial! When I awoke the next morning I broke down in tears and cried uncontrollably for days!! I wasn't able to listen to the song "My Way!" For 5 years after he passed without crying uncontrollably!! He was and still is a big part of my life! 💔💔💔!

Elvis was born with some ailments and the pain got worse . These interviews are old. We found out so much more since then. The man died from a heart attack. Most of the doctors think that he would have died with or without the drugs

It's a great read but she's on CZcams doing interviews about what really happened to him and why. I think you would love it because of the excellent research she did and how she found the medical info that we have now that they didn't have then. It's absolutely amazing and we find out how very sick he really was..

He was in so much pain, but NEVER disappointed his fans. His love for us plus everyone around him. I will keep my opinions to myself that are negative about some of the men in this video. Elvis was kind of a slave to his manager Colonel Tom Parker. During his life, Elvis never knew that Parker was actually an illegal immigrant from The Netherlands, Andreas van Kuijck, who had assumed a whole new identity in the US and had somehow managed to become a succesful manager of several country and western artists. Once he saw what effect young Elvis, locally, had on his audiences, "Parker" latched on to Elvis and indeed, made him big, but at a tremendous price (literally and figuratively). Because Parker was afraid to let Elvis tour outside the USA without him, and because he - as an illegal immigrant - feared he would not be able to return to the US if he'd accompany Elvis on foreign tours, he made up all kinds of lies to prevent Elvis from touring outside the US. Despite that, Elvis - also in a weird way thanks to Parker - became a worldwide phenomenon and idol because he was the whole package: fantastic singer and performer and a star in over 30 movies (most of which were quite bad, but this was of course a great vehicle to let Elvis be seen across the globe). Elvis outrageously good looks did not hurt, either. Elvis was probably the first artist whose worldwide audiences traveled to the US to see him live. The Hawaii concert was the first concert that was beamed across the globe by satellite and was viewed by 1.5 BILLION people.
Elvis got addicted in the army because the brass was afraid Elvis (and other soldiers who had to stand guard in the icy German winters) might fall asleep on watch in the freezing temperatures, so he got his first uppers while serving in the US army. It snowballed after that when he was back in civilian life and showbiz.
He had a doctor in every state (and even several cities per state) who would provide him with all the prescription medication he wanted to have and later needed to sort of function. Such a waste of such a fine specimen.
He died at 42, but the state of his body/organs was that of an 80-year-old. Very sad. Elvis would sometimes cause an injury or wound to himself to get certain prescription drugs. He had medical books that described all kinds of medications, which to combine with which etc. that he almost knew by heart; he'd made a whole study of it.
He did have a genetic link to heart disease, but he undermined and damaged his health by over using prescription drugs for ailments he did not have, thereby causing real medical issues like a blocked colon, hypertension etc. His intestines had been leaking into his abdomen for some considerable time. He wasn't just constipated, his intestines did not work normally anymore because of the massive amounts of prescription drugs he had been abusing for decades. As far as I know, there weren't any real rehab centers as we know them today, back then. His immediate circle of family, friends and employees were all afraid and too uneducated (and probably selfish, not wanting to lose their meal ticket, although very short sighted because that attitude killed their meal ticket prematurely) to do something about it.
Elvis' finances were in the toilet at the time of his death. The colonel got 50% of what Elvis earned and all personnel was paid out of Elvis' 50%. Add to that that Elvis was way too generous, even to strangers, and there you have it. Also: people usually criticize the bodyguards who wrote the book Elvis What Happened? But they should also realize that Joe Esposito was a big enabler (and covered up the scene after Elvis' death. He has told at least 3 versions of what happened that fateful day) and Jerry Schilling is totally in Priscilla's pocket (which means going along with falsification of many Elvis facts to suit her storyline; they basically rewrote Elvis history on several points).
Read the truth, "Elvis Presley Destined to Die Young" by Sally Hodel. His mothers parents were first cousins that produced the Alpha 1 gene, which means he would have died in the 40's just like his mother and her two brothers. All of the same thing. Be open to new evidence.

A few of them wrote a book about exposing his drug use and that lead to his decline as well. He felt betrayed and was nervous about what his fans would think of him after the book.
This is always so hard to watch.. Elvis was a spiritual man always searching for God, always reading on every Religion all his life..Asking God what really was his purpose here..He said there had to be a bigger purpose?? Elvis got into a bit of a mess towards the end no doubt. But those Memphis mafia that were with Elvis turned against him as well ,they weren't as accurate as they came across. There was a lot of money made by varies things like books that came out from those guys as well. His Doctor didn't help much either.
Sauerkraut is German. It's basically finely cut raw cabbage that has a long shelf life due to the fermentation process. It's really good.

I don't believe being smart, knowing what you're doing & denying it is conflicting. In Elvis' case I think he was saying I know what I'm doing & it's ok, I'll be fine. He was denying that he had a problem, i.e., any person who is an alcoholic, gambler, drug user denies they have a problem, even to themselves; you always here this type of person say "I'll be fine, it's ok." They are denying the problem to themselves & to everyone else. And that has nothing to do w-smarts. A brilliant person can be caught up in that type of situation but deny they are addicted because if they face it then they have to do something about it.
Regarding the "draw" & effect that Elvis had: sometimes I wonder if he had everything, the voice, great performer, etc., but NOT the looks, would that have made it less likely for him to have had that "pull" on people. We are drawn to pretty & nice looking people & things -- a pretty house, a beautiful car, a beautiful woman, handsome man. We're pulled in by prettiness. AND we tend to forgive the pretty people. A commentator below said "saw a picture of him, boom, I adored him." Maybe things for Elvis would have been different if he were not so gorgeous.

To understand this whole thing a little more I would recommend reading a book called destined to die young. It explains the situation a lot more clearly. Elvis was born with a lot of genetic problems which were passed down from generations before. As mentioned he was a Very proud man and a lot of the guys around him did not know the extent of how I'll he actually was as he kept it to himself. Unfortunately he was a ticking time bomb and the argument in that book is had he had a normal lifestyle,he might not have lived much longer than 42 anyway. Of course medicine has improved so much that if it were today many of these conditions could be managed more effectively. It's just a very sad story and end for a man that gave so much pleasure to so many through his music ,kindness and generosity. He deserved better than the hand he was dealt.

I am sure that there was more to his drug addiction other than recreational as told in the interview the uppers were mostly for his lifestyle but many of the drugs were prescribed for his many health conditions which caused him pain.

Elvis wasn't well. And I'm not talking about the pills. There's a book "Destined to die young" about Elvis. That shows Elvis really wasn't well. And so many in his family has died at young age. Many from his mother Gladys side. Gladys parents where 1 cousins. So all bad genes where doubled up through that too.
It saddens me to hear some of them just say he liked to be high on pills. When they also where on the same pills and could leave whenever they wanted. But didn't. Wonder why that is? Right! And also, won't say any names, but some where reporting directly to The Col. So did they "work" for Elvis or The Col? And all of them has benefited their whole life's with so called tell it all Elvis books.
Elvis benefited them alive and after he passed. The amount written about him is astonishing. And he cannot defend himself. Find that very very disturbing.
Jerry Schilling has been in my opinion a nice friend and has a very good book "Me and a Guy Named Elvis" and he helped Lisa Marie getting a job when she asked him. He was at the Hospital when she was born. And sadly when she passed too. I hope he still has the strength to be a support to Lisa's daughters. Especially Riley Keough.

Parts of this doco have aged very badly, the Narrator is peddling a lot of the same old shit fed by disgruntled members of the MM (who were fired by Elvis). The narrator is awful on this......Elvis no longer had a huge following ??....as decades change new music and artists come around and take center stage but Elvis always had his following and that's how he was able to tour to sell out shows....his excesses were probably no different and probably alot less than many of the big artists in the 70s. .. he liked his food, no doubt, his drugs were prescription ( which he did self medicate and abuse) as apposed to hard drugs like coke which he didn't do and sex was on offer but Elvis just liked female company and this is portraying it like a mass of orgies.....the 2 main issues with Elvis in the 70s were his health and Parker. His health issues can be traced back to when he was young. Some were hereditary and probably some undetected at the time. He obviously didn't help himself with his food choices and he also thought he could solve his issues with the prescription drugs, of which there were plenty of Doctors who were willing to give to him...Parker worked his prized possession to death....he made more money than Elvis with his dealings and so had a strangle hold and a reliance on Elvis financially but worst of all he restricted Elvis artistically and for someone like Elvis that was a death sentence because he became bored with routine...he needed challenges and if he had had a real manager rather than a promotor ( which Parker was) then who knows what might of happened.
ELVIS wore the "STAR OF DAVID" on his chest, his great grandmother was full Jewish...

Elvis admitted to his wife, he had a self-destructive personality. He was a highly intelligent human, apart from his immense talent. 🥃 His star burnt so bright, its light was fleeting. Sadly.
