    Tyre pressure is crucial for so many things and to see it in this video was gold!
    Driving either my Series 3 Swb or my Defender 110 Td5 or my D4 V8 on and off road my tyre pressure is paramount in any situation but more so when sand driving that’s where it really matters!

    Continue with the tracks BECAUSE your demonstrating the new technology advantages to all the tyre users - who need new information. Be sure to test drive the tracks on the village roads, some highway, from farm to farm just like George does doing his work. Make tyre uses WANT Tracs as a result of your over the road demo. Discuss tyre vs Trac service life. No flat tires. Higher load rating..... Ground impact, ability to get on wet soft fields before tyre'd tractors can....👍👍🍺🍺🍺🇺🇸

    Interesting vid👍tracks will always come out top but are expensive, so I would choose tyres with options of one tractor fitted with inflation air system vs another tractor with standard tyres. We know benefits with cropping but what about hay operation n to see time, fuel saving n advantages does both tractors bring to the business? I bet there would be surprising results👍

    My only concern is the conversion cost from tyres to tracks for some farmers! I do watch a good deal of farm videos and track technology is getting better all the time, but so has tyre tech!

    Really interesting bit of film, the half tracks have become really popular, see a lot here when travelling around Suffolk and Norfolk. We have an inflate deflate system on our MAN 4x4 lorry at work and it has turned it in to an amazing bit of kit compared to its predecessor. Would be interested to see both pitched against each other on the same tractor doing the same job to do a comparison between the two systems

    Can’t argue with a visual comparison with the exact same draft, field and weather conditions, excellent way of putting the point across.
    Tyres in heavy draft conditions such as ploughing, subsoiling, bed forming for me,
    Would be interesting to see what pressure settings work best at different tyre wear points such as 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%. New tyres or even tracks don’t stay at 100% for that long unfortunately.
    Puppy looks in his element in the 7810, he just wants to go working with it, can’t blame the pouch for that!!!
    Great stuff as always mate👍
    🐶🚜🛠👍👌

  • @NorthFenFarm
    @NorthFenFarm Před 2 lety

    I did a fair bit of research into tyres vs tracks and it was an interesting outcome. Firstly tyres want to run at 8-12% slip whereas tracks run closer to 2-4%
    Ultimately if you dual/triple up and run at 'correct' pressures (sub 10psi) you'll grip better and compact less. However when it gets really bad tracks will get you further than tyres but by that point you're causing soil damage. The other thing with tracks is that they don't spread the weight as well as you imagine. They have significant peaks of downward force under the idlers.
    The saving grace of tracks in this country as you mentioned is size! You can drive a quadtrac down the road, but you'd struggle with one dualed up let alone trying to run triples!
    To answer your end question, I'd like to see tyres as that's what most people are running. How can we run them better? Are duals as good as modern tyres run at correct pressures?

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  Před 2 lety +2

      We compared full tracks against Quadtracs for two seasons and no single type ticked all the boxes.
      The main factors were the variables such as soil type, workload and the conditions. Idler and running gear downforce is spread fairly evenly and isn't as big a factor as people imagine, especially on full tracks.
      Duals vs VF tyres is a close run thing and probably worth looking more closely at.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  Před 2 lety +1

      If we do a comparison again I'll drop you a line as it could be interesting comparing results/conditions

    I think your video was one of the most informative you've made, really enjoyable. I liked the way both George and you presented it. Well done keep the good videos coming. One comment I would like to make is normally the harder the material you run tracks on the narrower the track, the softer the material the wider the track. I suppose the tracks would be something to see in real soft ground.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  Před 2 lety

      To a point, especially with excavators yes, track width is dependant on conditions but with tractors you don't have to go that wide as if it's dry enough to work, then a 24-30" belt is wide enough.

    I think it has to be tracks but honestly either would be interesting. What did you shoot this video on? The stuff out in the field looked really good definitly a cinematic quality to it. Any chance you will be doing more Defender content like an off roading review? Look forward to the ongoing restoration projects and especially a closer look at the 7810!
