Following the shocking news that America's first "Golden Bachelor" couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist are getting a divorce, Theresa took to Instagram to further comment on their decision to separate following only 3 months of marriage. "I truly thought it was going to last forever. It turns out, even at the age of 70, you don’t know everything. Sometimes things don’t go the way you planned and that’s okay," she shared in part.

Wouldn’t you think that a living location would be an important topic to discuss before he picked her to get married ? Had he told her that moving to another state was a non negotiable thing, she may not have said yes to him. Even at 70, this could be a red flag that needs to be addressed.
Its a no brainer. They should have discussed living destinations before marriage.

It means their children weren't truly happy on both sides. Evern though all of their children are all "adults" now, it looked really hard for them all to accept this new lifestyle as joint families. I could see it in the faces of Gerry's children at the wedding. Everyone was still in the "honeymoon phase" but when "reality" set it......the honeymoon was sadly over. I wish them and their families all the best.

Who are we to judge their life choices? If it didn't work, it didn't work. As long as they're not hurting anyone, we shouldn't be so concerned. Let them enjoy the rest of their lives in peace and with their loving families.

I'm confused. They had JUST gotten married I thought?!?? But to be fair...they've only had 45 YEARS to think about what traits they're really looking for in a partner. I totally get it ! I’ve am 68 and my fiance is almost 70 and have been engaged for almost 6 years . At this point I would say we will not ever get married . I have been divorced for 33 years and he had a wife and was married for 30 years to his second wife and she’s been gone for 9 years .
Personally where they were going I live should have been discussed before he proposed to her on air . They both have families and were

Theresa and Gerry are 10 years away from their children having to make decisions for them And Theresa’s grandsons are 5 years away from not wanting to hang out with grandma every day!

Theresa’s grandsons are 5 years away from not wanting to hang out with grandma every day! I saw this happen with 3 friends. It happens kids grow up and want to be with their own friends-not grandma.

Couples compromise all the time there’s military couples either the wife or the husband are in the military and they have to pick up a move every few years because of their job and leave behind their family. Teresa was the one that had the job. The husband should’ve moved for her. It’s all about sacrifice, and trust that you’ll be able to still communicate with your loved ones and visit them. I feel like they got caught up in the pageantry of the whole thing for all the young people out there older people don’t know what they want either in life. We don’t always have it figured out.
Not all of them do, some of them stay at a permanent place while the spouse goes off. The main point is that the couples has to come to an agreement.
Men don’t want to sacrifice anything. It’s their way or no way.

I don't blame either of them for wanting to stay near their kids and grandkids as they age. They are definitely up there in years and going back and forth and as health issues start as people age, I would want to be near my kids and grandkids. So what? People need to let it go. They gave it a whirl and it is hard to uproot at any age and move away from a supportive family. I hope they both are content with their decision. They seem to be. Teresa is very accomplished, has a cute home, is close to her kids and why give that up for anyone? I wouldn't do it either.

It’s not rocket science people. The Bachelor is a show. They were paid to play a part. They did. Got the viewers hooked. Made the show money. Go your own way. Period. End of story. I did not for one minute think it was real.
