    • The Rise of Ancient Is...
Prof. Israel Finkelstein is a leading figure in the archaeological and historical research of Ancient Israel. Throughout forty years of field work and study Prof. Finkelstein has managed to change the way archaeology is conducted, and to greatly influence the way the bible is interpreted, and the history of Israel is reconstructed.
Prof. Finkelstein is a professor emeritus at Tel Aviv University and the head of the School of Archaeology and Maritime Cultures at the University of Haifa. Prof. Finkelstein is active in the archaeology of the Levant and is an applicant of archaeological data in reconstructing biblical history. He is also known for applying the exact and life sciences in archaeological and historical reconstruction. Prof. Finkelstein is the current excavator of Megiddo, a key site for the study of the Bronze and Iron Ages in the Levant. Prof. Finkelstein is a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities and an associé étranger of the French Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres.
Dr. Matthew J. Adams is an archaeologist who specializes in the Near East. He is currently director of the Jezreel Valley Regional Project and a Co-Director of the Megiddo Expedition along with Prof. Finkelstein.
Dr. Adams sat down with Prof. Finkelstein over several sessions to talk about how a lifetime of work has informed the story of Ancient Israel. These conversations became the series The Rise of Ancient Israel with Israel Finkelstein.

I happened to come across this, probably because I watch a fair amount of both history and archeology. I have lived in Israel for just over 50 years and find the series superb. I pulled off my book shelves a book I read years ago "Chronicles of the old Testament Kings" by John Rogerson and find myself going back and forth between them as I reacquaint myself with the subject. Thank you very much. I saw no. 20 and now after seeing E1 will watch the others.

After watching the entire series, I hope all Israelis can understand that Palestinians have the right to live on their own land, where their ancestors lived and where archaeological evidence has been discovered. I can’t imagine going to Rome in 2024 and saying, “My ancestors lived here, and God promised me this land, so you should give me your home and land,” as has been done to Arabs in the case of Israel.
What Professor Finkelstein discussed relates to a period before Jesus. This is ancient history, filled with theological claims that need to be verified by archaeology. However, in modern history, we know that Arabs live in this region, known as the Middle East since at least 1500 years.
The Middle East has been invaded by many empires throughout history, yet the Arabs have continued to live here, while the colonizers have come and gone.
I hope that all humanity can live together in peace and love. Hats off to Professor Finkelstein.

One can pop the red pill and find out about the truth the hard way: Digging, assembling evidences, attempting connections, doing reseaches, exploring new avenues etc etc, or one can just take the blue pill and read the Bible. Finkelstein chose the red pill. Thanks for uploading this great document, and thus doing your part for humanity.

The best way to know the truth is to simply follow the dinnerware. Women throughout the ages have cherished fine dinning accoutrement. A little research has showed me that the Israilis were basically converted Canaanites. The Canaanites were Polytheists. If you ask me, all the trouble started with monotheism, which has caused all the "my God is better than your God" wars. As far as the "Chosen People" go, if you are writing the story, who else are you going to make the hero, but your own tribe?

Interestingly enough, whichever pill you take, you get the same reality, just like a coin that has two sides... Heads, you're blue. Tails, you're red. Some of us take both, and end up doing all the hard work in studying the variety and history of religions. Then, when we're done, we have to decide which one is the Truth.

@@user-ut6ji8my2h All the trouble started with monotheism? The world was pretty ugly under polytheism too, even uglier than mono given the human sacrifice stuff. But as far as wars between kults, yes then it was a my god is better than your god, your god is fake and mine is real type of thing.
Monotheism was just a tool used to get societies to stop many of the bad aspects of polytheism and also to get people to accept authoritarian rule where the king or the pharaoh or the emperor's word was all that mattered and no longer was life influenced by an entire pantheon of different gods or views where people could say this god or that goddess wouldn't approve. It was for a time when only one voice mattered.

Glad to respond. In 1968 my only experience in archeology was working 2 weeks on the South Wall in Jerusalem. I had come on a year program on kibbutz and this was the final 2 weeks. Sherut Laam. Then 20 more on Kibbutz and 30 in the big city. History always an important interest.

Sometimes the establishment reserves its right to preserve its power by way of the retcon (google it). It certainly seems like the Ivory tower, the legislature, and the plebiscite have succumbed to the same cultural hegemony that manufactured a state without a people for a people without a state.

Its clearly likely that the Apiru plays a role in both the origin of the name of the Hebrew people and their ethnic grouping. Just because the Apiru may not have all originally been only Hebrews, it doesn't disclude the likely case that the term was later adopted to reference them. Example it's like the Slavic peoples, they weren't the only peoples referred to as Slaves, but over time the took on that reference to become the Slavs.

According to the Bible Abraham was born in Mesopotamia and made his way to Canaan. During a drought the descendants of Abraham flourished in Egypt. The Jews later fled Egypt, but couldn't remember where Abraham had come from so they wandered around in the wilderness for forty years until they could figure out where their "promised" land was.

In Genesis, Abraham also deals with the Philistines who weren't there before 1200BC. This and other anachronism led most scholars today to see Abraham as a later, literary figure that was developed from maybe a local legend around Hebron to the ancestor of all Jews.

The 'gap' of Egyptian hegemony in Canaan 'as the Israelites moved in with and By The Commandment of YAHWEH all along 'with' Joshua (Yehoshua!) was what YAHWEH wished! Remember- YAHWEH through Moses drown Pharaoh AND killed his son- thus Egypt was then disorganized- "FROZEN" from interference in Canaan's affairs for hundreds of years as we see in Pharaoh later 'giving his daughter as bride to Solomon 'for peace & security'- then!

He is misleading audience to believe that jews existed 1400-1500 years before Jesus ..!
That is both theoretically and practically IMPOSSIBLE since
Jesus is the nefew of Moses who is in turn son of Amram and grandson of Levi the son of Israel..!
The grandfather of Israel who is the father of Ismael and Isaac had migrated to Egypt from the eastern province of Anatolia running away from the cruelties of Nimrod at around 100 BC.
How one can verify that date..!?
Easy it is a child's play..!
An average age to consider for the ancients to have offsprings being around 20 from Jesus to Abraham there are 5 generations only and roughly that depicts the date of sons of Israel as around 50 BC only..!
Jews are only 50 years older than their brethrens Christians and there never are 1500 years apart from each other..!
    Ref Holy Qur'an 19: 28
Plus that's not all in uncovering the true facts in terms of whereabouts the sons of Israel /jews lived upuntil 300-400 CE .
First of all the exodus event is complete baloney a hollywood scenario if you like made up just to astound the audience and prepare them for the massive lies and receive all the bs as a divinely guided thus secretive natured missions..!
Could that be the reason for a massive smear campaigns against the uneditable therefore last holy Book of Qur'an and the last prophet of Islam Muhammad of Bekka/Mecca , I say you couldn't be any more right than that..!
Jews were allowed to tamper with Torah and Gospel but never were they able to manipulate the divine decree since they had been over the limit in every sense and in every area of their lives..!
Sons of Israel or with their unpronounced identity of current USA have a mission to set up a world empire after successfully eliminated humankind until there is no one but they themselves.
This is the promise given to them by the vicious foe of humankind after Jesus was taken away from his grip by the All Mighty God..!
Fake Jesus will be brought to complete the project of alien invasion since they are in partnership with the aliens aka the devils/jinnkind.
That's why nobody from among the nonjewish Americans would dare to question the reason for existence of the baphomet raised by the Qabalist magicians in their homeland for what..!?
Baphomet is a Qabalist spell that mixes facts with its opposites covering up the facts uncovering and operating on the opposites of the facts which is why the world is struggling with standing up for the facts but the facts denying fact checkers both in social media snd in governmental establishments fight against the truths and try to impose control mechanisms such as digital IDs vaxxination passports in order to keep the facts buried deep underground all because of the powerful spell of Baphomet in the church of Bill Gates where he always frequents..!
