- Hands down my favorite place in the world to fish, it’s always a treat when you get to see the Great Barrier Reef out off Mackay in QLD! Epic day fishing with Dave and Jordan up on the flats chasing Coral Trout in the morning, then as the tide drops we move out into the deeper stuff to do some slow pitch jigging and tangle with some cool fish! Throw in crystal clear water and beautiful weather and good times with the boys 👌🏻

The noise from your jig reel does my head in.
That sound is the line zipping through the guides, it’s a coarse 4 strand designed from the ground up for SPJ which cuts through the water better than the more dense 8 strand, so I can deal with the noise for the better performance..
Its feel so great even nothing to do just be there.

Thanks mate, we pick up a few reds the way we’re fishing this kind of area. I’m fishing very hard structure and I find the nanny’s like softer corals and shoals.

Thanks mate! The pressure edge is the front of the structure where the current hits first, so the leading edge. If the current is flowing north to south, then the north facing edge is the pressure edge 👌🏻

Haha that wall is a savage but rewarding place! I grew up on those rocks back when we could ride our bikes onto all the jetties and fish. The end of the south wall was always where we’d end up!

That line is so noisy
It is mate I know, being a 4 strand it isn’t as smooth as the 8 strand but it does cut through the water better than the smoother 8 strands helping to stay over my jig longer, but it comes at the cost of being quite noisy as it runs through the rod… I tried to edit the sound down a bit but it didn’t really work, sorry 😅✌🏻
