After 1,155 games in the Minor Leagues, Drew Maggi was called up to the Pittsburgh Pirates from Double-A Altoona! Curve Manager Callix Crabbe delivers the good news.
Can’t help but cheer for this dude! You can tell how humbled he was upon receiving the news. I checked the highlights of his first AB and his first hit and the guy is a gamer. Good on him for grinding it out for as long as he did. WIsh him all the best for his time in the show
I just wish he'd gotten the chance to actually play in a game when he was with the Twins in '21. We weren't playing for shit, why not give the man some ABs???
Not sure if he'll ever get back to the bigs but he can tell his grand kids one day that he was a Major League Baseball player. He definitely earned that.
Age is mind over matter, if you dont mind it dont matter -Satchel Page Congrats to maggi he deserves a few games hopefully he can stick in the majors. This is why i love baseball. Baseball is like life same as rocky. Rocky is the human spirit getting beat down by life but he keeps going. I just wish more people would love baseball the way i do.. well i wish more Americans would. Im glad south america and the asian countries love baseball just wish we had more baseball fans in America...
I may love this sport having played and coached in Europe and Canada at a semi-pro level for 33 years, but nobody loves baseball like Drew "Magic" Maggi. He deserved to be promoted and had a 2-for-2 day and two RBIs in yesterday's win over the Nationals. You made the whole world smile, Drew!
A really famous producer and director need to create a "real baseball film" about the story of Drew Maggi and his journey to his first day in the majors.
Promotions are always emotional moments, but promotions of longtime minor leaguers are even more so. Over 1100 games of waiting, and he finally gets the call.
"Kids, your uncle Drew is a lifetime .333 hitter in the big leagues..."
He’s in Toledo playing for the Tigers AAA team right now.
Btw, great speech by the coach. Leadership!

That will bring tears to your eyes
came back here after his first base hit with the pirates, he contributed to a dub! Great stuff!
2 for 6, hitting .333 with an RBI and a double. So far that's pretty good! Maybe he'll keep it up?

If he never gets another cup of coffee in the Bigs again, he'll be able to say he retired with a .333 batting average in the majors.
@@teebob21 Same batting average as Elvio Jimenez
EXACTLY why I love sports! I was in his shoes once but never got the call, I know this had to feel good! 👏👏👏

I love underdog stories!
Don’t ever forget when they say sports is jaded and professional athletes don’t care. This is great.
He got a base hit RBI and a double. Now he’s in the MLB record books forever!
He’s on the internet, that’s forever.
