It’s finally happened. Emma Perkins has her pot farm… and it’s glorious. The only problem? Those checkered-tail nighthawks that keep eating her weed! No!” When nerdy prude Grace Chasity inadvertently starts a rumor about cool & popular Stephanie Lauter, the two find themselves stuck together for the summer. Grace Chasity will always do two things, in this order:
- Save the day with her chastity
- Go crazy with the power of her chastity
That's something you better hurry up and know about her
WORKIN BOYS SPOILERS
The look in her eyes when she shot him the first time was insanity, the next 20 shots where just unnecessary lol

@@ninanevarez486 the working boys short film was originally for the kickstarters who backed the SK 10niversary campaign, but thanks to the cinderella's castle Kickstarter, it is made available for everyone on starkid's CZcams regardless if they have backed the SK 10niversary campaign or not

Anyone else notice that Joey, as Ezekiel, doesn’t blink??? As far as I can see, he doesn’t blink at all. It totally adds to the level of strange creepiness that Ezekiel is.
Didnt notice, what a cool detail
Didn't notice, too busy trying to decide if he sounded more like Jesse Eisenberg or Michael Cera
@@ballisticnerd2097definitely Jesse, he didn't have the croak of Michael Cera
There was one point he MIGHT have blinked but the prop was in front of his face so it's hard to tell.

Same company who wrote “take off your clothes” now wrote a “keep on your clothes” song
What I want to know is how Ted Spankoffski managed survive a summer in Abstinence Camp without invoking the Axe Man's wrath.
He probably just had the magazine at all times
Because before his sweetheart went with someone else he was 'pure?'
That's probably the reason he's so scared to go back to camp. He probably just escaped with his life.
@@mandibauso4210 True that!
@@MasterShiruko Holy crap I can't believe I forgot that part but it makes sense with that in mind! :0
Virginity Rocks really gets across the uncomfortably horny energy that some subtypes of purity culture inadvertently emit. It's a super weird hard-to-capture vibe, but they did it.
Nerdy Prudes Must Die is the perfect continuation to Abstinence Camp!
Lol abstinence Camp was actually originally intended to be a sort of sequel to Nerdy Prudes Must Die
I mean with the whole multiverse thing both is possible 😄
Lumber Axe would be probably disappointed in Grace then. Considering what happens in NPMD
I always figured it was a separate timeline thing. If this would still count as a sequel to NPMD, I’m pretty sure the axe man wouldve cut her down in a second 😂💀
@@skyefrost7040 it is separate
Jon matteson is very clearly typecast as slightly fucked in the head antagonists in most of these and frankly I'm here for it. Jerry was incredible
Y'know, a stoned, telekinetic bird cult is not where I thought this series was going...but I'm not complaining
The irony of the Virginity Rocks verse about Taylor using they/them pronouns, yet the enforcement of binary gender stuff at the camp
I like to think every time a nonbinary goes to Abstinence Camp the counselors pull the fabled Grey Shirts(tm) out of the attic for them 💀
'You may have brought a gun but it's Hatchetfield'
The truest thing I've ever heard
I literally gasped and had to pause the video when i heard that line, it was just *genius*
COLDEST LINE EVER HELLO????
It is and Linda and proved it in Black Friday
Kim did NOT have to go that hard on Virginity Rocks but she did and we thank her for it.
IK!! those high notes were CRAZY
reminds me of how she suddenly went ham in "Made in America"
*Same thing could be said about Jon, he literally carried that shit!!!*
I love how Abstinence Camp plays on the typical horror tropes of "teens have sex or do something wrong, then they die!"
"I oughta cover you in syrup! I oughta put you in a canoe! I oughta let a bird walk all over you!" Iconic threats from Boy Jerry
"Go make a wallet!😒"
I'm confident Gary Goldstein, attorney at law, came to rescue after Perky's buds and got Emma and Ziggy out of prison. ⚖️✨☕
EXCELLENT ADDITION
So true, so true
But Gary also works for the prosecution, remember?
@@hannadenison7122 he's going to be running around the court room
This is exactly what happened
Extremely distraught realizing Emma's dream of leaving Hatchetfield to start a grass farm was never a possibility. If Emma's crops only grew because of the magic soil, the end of TGWDLM is more tragic... if she had escaped and received that plot of land in Colorado, it would have ended in disaster anyway. Emma must have some dark bad karma, this town keeps putting her in some Sisyphis BS.
STOP NOW IM SAD NOW /lh
Or she could just get better at farming lol /j
Alternatively, she could take some of the Witchwood's soil with her and use it like a fertilizer? But yeah, she's just never gonna be able to run her pot farm 😔
On the upside, she died at the end of that TGWDLM so she doesn’t have to suffer that fate. She received the much better fate of becoming a meat puppet to The Singular Voice Pokey. By the way, would anyone like some coffee?
@@SmudgedSketch Damn. That's harsh, but also just as possible.
Boy Jerry’s threats are peak comedy - “I oughta cover you in syrup!,” “I oughta let a bird walk all over you!”
Although, given that Perky Buds was right before this episode and what happened with birds in that one…bit more of a threat 😅😂
"Now go make a wallet" "I oughta put you in a canoe!"
Any time I get in an argument with someone, I have to yell at them "GO MAKE A WALLET"
Considering it had been heavily rumored for a couple years that Grace Chasity would be the lead in Nerdy Prudes Must Die, I have to say, that character is not at all how I imagined she would be, like Gerald in Queen Bee. Smart way of subverting expectations.
oh yeah, my favorite story “queen been”
How does it feel to be right?
I love how seemingly random offhand character stuff keeps turning into Deep Hatchetfield Lore. Emma doesn't just want to start a weed farm, she has a magic weed green thumb because the weed grows in magic soil infused with the dark history of Hatchetfield itself. Of course! Why not!
I'd like to just add, I love how the camp respects gender pronouns and doesn't discriminate against possible same sex couples but Steph wanting a blue shirt is crossing the line 😂
@@SeekSeekLest only time and word of God will tell 😂
Light Purple for gender-neutral would be nice as well
yet they have only Boy Jerry and Girl Jerry, literally said that there were only two types of Shirts (blue for boys and pink for girls). Like literally only one moment is when they respected someone pronounce was in Song, and in case of possible same sex couples - just because they didn't said anything against them, doesn't equal they said anything to support them. So I'd say, that idea kind of pulled from thin air, because I actually found this camp kind of the exact opposite of what you said. I thought this camp was as Heti as hell.
Wait what do you mean respects pronouns? Could you give a timestamp, i missed that.
@@AlinaAniretake omg thank you
I like how Ezekiel basically declares himself god: "I desire it, and so it is good." Joey's tone and blunt speaking style is so perfect here. I'm cackling in my seat.
Haha, “blunt” speaking style..
i was thinking how ezekiel literally speaks like god in the bible
Abstinence Camp is the funniest shit I've seen in ages. Everyone was amazing throughout both stories, but Jon Matteson & Kim Whalen were phenomenal as Jerry & Jeri. Truly unhinged, totally perfect.
@1:29:17 - timestamp for "no forgiveness, not in these woods!" for future me
If Jon was given a note for Jerry's character saying "Steve from Blues Clues, but he's a Youth Leader of a cult" he pulled it off so well 😂
Forreal, Jon was the highlight for me for sure he pulled off the role so well
The fact that Ziggy is canonically non-binary and was cast with an actual non-binary actor fills my heart with joy.
As a non binary person I'm loving the representation
Oh, I didn't know the actor was non-binary! Thanks!

Luckily, as long as you don't live in somewhere like Hatchetfield (which is pretty much akin to Derry, Maine in IT), if something like that were to happen, your parents could easily sue the school/program for child endangerment. too many people are talking about Abstinence Camp, and not nearly enough about Joey's performance as Ezekiel. Not the type of villain he usually plays, but he did it so well. The eerily blunt, clipped lines and him tilting his head with Ezekiel's movements are so fun.
edit: not saying Abstinence Camp isn't good. It had me laughing almost to a concerning degree for someone who's ace
I love that boy jerry just progressively becomes more and more unhinged, Jon plays him so well
abstinence camp is really up there as one of the best nightmare time episodes, both songs are absolute bangers. a song called virginity rocks should not be as good as it is
Also one of the funniest episodes.
It's interesting how the Jerry's abstinence only approach didn't stop the campers from being "perverted", and only served to make it much more dangerous when they did. It creates a neat parallel between this and less fantastical abstinence only approaches.
nick, matt, it's okay to admit youre not okay. you dont have to write a musical where an endangered species of birds becomes telekinetic from weed and enslaves a vegan person and a 30-something year old woman
i don’t think it was written by them, i think it was anti-human propaganda created by the birds

He’s such a fantastic character actor. Solid gold throughout the Tin Can Bros musical “Spies Are Forever.”
Super versatile.
@@kurtshaw8553 Oh that might just be my favourite performance of his, as that's my favourite musical
Oh yeah this performance is probably the one I found the most scary
His performance as a bird is legit scarier than the actual axe murderer in the following episode
yeah, it's how soft-spoken and matter-of-fact he is. if you compare it to, for example, the guy who wears too much denim whose name I can't remember, that guy yells and laughs. Ezekiel is creepier because he seems to have no emotions at all. he's not human. he's a bird. cold, analytical, and controlling. he only shows emotion when his fight-or-flight kicks in. it's creepy and really showcases Joey's range.
Jeff’s delivery of “guess I’ll go make a wallet” just kills me.
"God looked at Hatchetfield and saw a den of sin." Yeah no that tracks.
i'm already enamored with jae's performance as ziggy! i really hope we get to see more of them (both ziggy and jae) in future projects! also jon and kim's voices mix really well, holy shit. my asexual power anthem is now virginity rocks

"you will shit, right now" needs to make its way into a starkid out of context compilation and it needs to do it now
They went hard on the religious themes in both of these and as a Christian, it PAID OFF.
In the first one, do you mean that the Hatchet Men sound like a religion? I didn't notice anything else having to do with religion in that one. 🤔
@@adamdavis1648 the names of the birds, the implication of a cult, the whole "you will reap what you sow" and chastity's entire thing on the bike feels like it intentionally played on Christian culture
@@OKDL good point. Didn't even realize the names and everything. Lol
Reminds me of the gothic horror style of writing. Two young people who are a bit more progressive or immoral go to a secluded building and initially have fun, then there's foreshadowing and bad things happen, ending usually in the destruction of said secluded building (fires being common), taking the evil spirits with it.
Gothic horror is usually heavy on Christian motiefs, and I agree this episode was heavy on those.
@@OKDL Interesting; hadn't thought of it that way.
"Guess I'll go make a wallet" is my new favorite euphamism
Oh right- in Hannah's mind there was a forest filled with people as the trees. The further in, the older... Was that foreshadowing what WitchWood actually is..?
exactly what i was thinking! can't wait for the next episode!
well you can be sure that everything that feels like forshadowing or a reference is exactly that xD The way this is all woven together and planned out is really impressive.
The old man also say the same lines that are said in the witch trial !
@@MiniMimots I've read that those lines are actually Sam Raimi's rules for writing horror stories and that the writers of this show consider those rules guiding principles in this show. Not sure if that's true, but that's what TV Tropes says. Though I'm inclined to be skeptical since the guilty actually seem to go unpunished quite often in Nightmare Time.

I’d bet money the mayor is a member of the church of the starry children, the cult mentioned at the end of the Honey Queen episode.
For the greater good.
I think it was more of a humorous quip about corrupt politicians and zoning laws in the town
I think the Hatchetfield Ape Man and the Abstinence Camp Axe Man should kiss. Like, the Axe Man might change his mind about his worldview lmao
This is the funniest thing i have ever heard
YES WE GOTTA MAKE IT HAPPEN
Unless he catches Ape Man and Lucy getting it on and murders them instead.
The abstinence story is absolutely delightful. None of the other come even close. This is your horror magnum opus
I love how the Axeman only actually uses the ax to commit 2 of the murders.
I'm just now realizing how many Abstinence Camp/Perky's Buds callbacks there are in NPMD! ("watching these prudes run for their lives," "hey ho, heck no, ___ has got to go!," "that's what you are, isn't it? a dirty girl?")
at 1:01:57 the melody line is the same as “watch those nerds run for their lives” in the song Nerdy Prudes Must Die and that tiny detail is making me geek out 😭
I've never had a nightmare since I was a little child, but somehow after watching this episode I had one again. Nightmare time really does live up to its name.
Same 😂
If there’s one thing I know about Grace Chasity, it’s that she’s AWAYS on time
Amazing meta joke
imagine if she's related to the Man in a Hurry
@@purpledolpin05 that would be AMAZING
Another thing about Grace Chastity
Shes the biggest prude you'll ever meet
@@moozy5898 it is now my headcannon (until proven otherwise) that Grace Chasity is related to The Man in a Hurry
Bonus: it’s possible that General MacNamara is also related to both of them? Like, between Grace’s ‘if there’s one thing you better hurry up and know...’ and the fact that he and the Man in a Hurry are both played by Jeff Blim, that’s the vibe I’m getting; I could just be reading too much into it, but that’s my headcanon for now haha
I just thought of something. Ted seems absolutely terrified of camp and might have actually seen the Axe man but survived thanks to the magazine. Why would he send his brother to camp knowing that he could be killed though? Also if the axe man refuses to look at the actual act (if you notice it's actually the second you stop he attacks) if theoretically two people while kissing took their clothes off, would that be a viable way to escape? Also in the case of a nonconsentual act, would both parties be killed? So many questions to think about.
Maybe he doesn't like his brother that much? Or maybe he thinks he could never get laid so he'll be safe.
@@joelmole3157 Idk I'm not sure not liking your brother very much means that you're willing to essentially murder him lol
If I recall correctly, Ted is in his early 30s, the axe man is about 20 as said during the premiere, and supposedly, only 5 kids have died before this year's camp.
He probably wasn't active yet when Ted was there.
@@liliespetals19 It seems like the campers are teenagers, so if Ted was about 15 when he went to camp, the axe man would have already been in the woods, but maybe not as powerful as he is now.
Well if Ted's characterization here is the same as his characterization in TGWDLM, it's established he'd rather trip up the people closest to him to die than be the one murdered with the only exception being his sacrifice in Hatchetfield Ape-Man (Which is another timeline.) Now why he kicked his brother out of the car as opposed to simply turn the car around and leave with him I don't know. Maybe he didn't want to get an earful from their parents for not dropping his brother off? Or just a case of "Not my problem."
Joey never disappoints when he plays a villain
Abstinence Camp may be my favorite Nightmare Time so far. Creepy backdrop, great characters, adorable romance, and some classic slasher action with some real Victor Crowley vibes. Love it
Damn, Grace Chastity coming in clutch twice lol
Jae was so good in Perky's Buds! Can't wait to see more of them
Me too. They are amazing and I love Ziggs. I waited a long time to see them acting, and in Honey Queen it wasn't enough (I watched the episode live in CZcams)
Couldn’t agree more. Played the part to perfection, and they have a wonderful singing voice to boot. Can’t wait for more.
I need more of Jae!!!
Omfg yesss I love how they played Ziggs lmao
the transition from serious to happy face at 1:14:54 is truly peak Jon at his unhinged state
Jae as Ziggs was such an elevated aspect of this entire show. As a long-time lover of Starkid, I hope they become a main actor for y'all. Excellent work along with all my usual faves ❤️
58:56 I fell in love with Bryce’s voice from this song! So glad she has a lead role coming up!!
