  • Ge’ez is a language that is not spoken today except in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church ceremonies. Ge’ez Instructor Deacon Dawit Muluneh talks with Christine Sciacca, Curator of European Art, 300-1400 CE, about how the language is taught today. Deacon Muluneh’s students Amir Demeke and Natti Asfaw share their experiences of learning this ancient language.
This video was produced in conjunction with the Ethiopia at the Crossroads exhibition, on view at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland from December 3, 2023 through March 3, 2024.
