- If you want to feel like you're part of the Secret Service, the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban LT (www.chevrolet...., in black, is perfect for you. I did a weekend getaway in the massive SUV (with seating up to 12 people!) and found it quite luxurious. This is the LT model, the mid-range trim with a leather interior and a power tailgate. It's very, very smooth and quiet on the freeway and gets up to 22 mpg thanks to a high-tech V8 engine.

I agree. It also has onboard 4G Wi-Fi. And with the great mileage and that huge fuel tank, you can go for almost 600 miles without refueling!!

You can't beat the Suburban for size. No other SUV allows third row passengers to enter and exit without the second row people needing to move. Also, with that space behind the third row seat, you can take nine people and some luggage! Thanks for watching, please subscribe!

Hi Fred - Thank you for the down to earth review (no fancy music or special effects) just your honest opinion. I have 5 kids and was considering a Tahoe - however I am concerned about luggage for road trips etc. My only concern with Suburban is how it handles around tight places etc? Any thoughts? Also I was assumed this was a huge gas guzzler .. apparently not as bad as I thought? All the best sir.

Yes, no room for luggage in a Tahoe if you've got a full load of people. It's a big vehicle but I didn't have any particular problems. It's easy to manuever and you just need to use your mirrors like driving a truck. Good sensors too for backing up or lane departure. Not a problem to park, but obviously you can't put it in tight spots for little cars. Just test drive it for a long time (drive in all kinds of different situations) or better yet rent one for a day or two to really try it out. This was a rental from Budget.
Yes, mileage is excellent for a huge suv due to the cylinder deactivation. You do need to drive carefully as the huge V8 is thirsty if you floor it and drive aggressively.

I also have 5 kids, just traded our mini van for this suburban yesterday. We really like it, lots of space, rides smooth. My wife can drive it just fine, it is long. Just gotta park it in the back of parking lot

Does anyone know if this vehicle can be modified to support the captain seats instead of the bench? Or is that not possible once you purchase the one with the bench?
I think yes is the answer. I don't think any modifications are necessary, you can either go to a dealer and get it done, or buy aftermarket seats and have a shop do it.
You can also buy used captain's chairs on ebay, they are about $2,000 for a pair. Then you would have a local shop do the install, which would probably be another $500.

Would you get a 2019 today in 2024?
If so, what's the maximum mileage?
First, I would research whether the 2019s are known for having any problems or issues. If not, yes I would get one, but only with a warranty like from CarMax.
I guess I would go for something under 100K miles as cars need a lot of regular, expensive maintenance things done by then and if you get one with more than 100K miles it might not have had them all done. I bought a certified preowned Prius with 75K miles and thought they would have done all the 100K things, they didn't and it cost me $1000 or so to do them. (Coolant change, spark plugs, tune up, transmission service, differential service)

Bought a 2019 and granny went out at 120k. I use it for limo. Now suspension needs 3k. Should I switch to Yukon or Escalade eventhough I’d take a huge loss? Any help is appreciated it
Assume you mean tranny not granny? I hope your granny didn't go out at 120K LOL!
If you use it as a limo, it probably gets a lot of miles. I don't know anything about their reliability but if I was in your situation, I would probably pay the $3K instead of buying a whole new vehicle. Hopefully that would get you another 100K miles?

No, I think they are same size. Been the same size since 2000 model year.

Yes, it's called cylinder de-activation and it's why this massive SUV gets 25 MPG. When you're cruising on the freeway, the engine doesn't need all eight cylinders and can just use four to generate just enough power to maintain your speed.

Not sure what you mean. They are an option you can order from the dealer. If you want used ones, you could reach out to parts companies or wrecking yards. Here in LA we use www.lkqpickyourpart.com they have multiple yards and you can get parts like seats.

Land cruiser or suburban?
Haven't driven a Land Cruiser but I have had the Lexus LX 570. Suburban is a whole lot bigger and the third row of seats can be accessed without moving the second row, which is a big deal. Gas mileage is also excellent on the Suburban, for a huge V8. Lexus is much more refined and luxurious, also better quality and reliability. Which one do you like better?

I don't think they make an LTZ model anymore. LS is the basic model, LT is the mid-range and Premier is the fancy one. Thanks for watching.
