The public needs to wake up here. There are no involved parents with most of these kids, they are raising themselves. If society wants to fix this problem, society needs to approach it from the angle that these kids will be essentially parentless, so all the things normally done by good parents will need to come from some other source. Trying to fix the current generation of biological parents will be a fruitless endeavor, the most efficient path to success is to write off the biological parents and start focusing on the kids, so they take a better path in life and break the chain of failure.

I do tons of research into gun violence, and inner city violence in general. I somewhat disagree with the statement that parents don’t know or can’t know. Can kids hide things? Yes, but it is not so simple to hide a firearm! Especially if the parent is actively checking ( as they should be if there kid has been caught before) This is not this kids first run in with the law, he has a list of priors, posts on social media with weapons. this is simply due to bad parenting. The parents aren’t doing there job, they are leaving the child to there own devices, letting them run with bad crowds, the parenting is a large part to blame for this child behavior aswell. Too say the parents are not at fault is silly and illogical. All the signs are there that the child has serious problems.

@@heatherleigh414 Totally understandable, and especially agree on the parenting part. I wouldn’t say it’s easier to obtain firearms as a whole, if anything , by the day it’s becoming increasingly difficult for law abiding citizens to obtain firearms. Where a lot of these kids obtain them is when living in the hood, or ghetto, they then get sold firearms by criminals, druggies, looking for there next fix, or (the government giving them out, but that’s a rabbit hole in itself) to increase inner city violence amongst low income class. I do agree with you that parenting is so horrible nowadays, and also agree that kids do hide things from there parents, but if they have been caught doing bad things, I think they should be monitored closely by the parents. I was exposed to firearms at a very young age. And I have a massive respect for them. it’s all how you were raised, but I agree they are not for everbody, I have family that aren’t comfortable with them, but they respect those that do and enjoy them, and understand why, but it isn’t there cup of tea, and that’s perfectly fine. I will say, they are a literal life saver, if you ever found yourself in a situation with a violent criminal who has 0 regard for life. I hate the sense of being powerless/defenseless to a would-be attacker, but I totally understand where u are coming from, as I had similar views in my life before I was introduced to them. It's incredible how here in the U.S., kids are getting younger & younger to become serial shooters while in the UK for example, they drink at a younger age and ditching home yet don't carry a deadly weapon or firearm as young teens in Great Britain mature mentally as they age while American teens don't as they become killers. Makes me feel so embarrassed parents act this way for their kids to fallen into an unhealthy crowd let alone the teen's part as well for interrupting an important game going on. I'm just relieved none in the high school got hurt as it seems there's always a shooting appearing out of nowhere anywhere in the country on a weekly basis.
