Here I give a brief introduction into neurodiversity and highlight a neurodivergent person in Technology and Engineering who has made (and is making) a big impact in the gaming world!
Satoshi Tajiri was more more of a guy who had autism. He created a series that has generated millions and has inspired many people by his games. I owe alot to this man's genius work

Satoshi Tajiri does not have autism, he has said so himself and so has a PR representative from Game Freak. It is a myth spread from a book called Satoshi Tajiri: Pokemon Creator. When asked for her source author Lori Mortensen said she got it from a random posting on MySpace. I am on the spectrum, I have Aspergers, I like many of you was inspired when I thought Tajiri had the same condition. However, with more research have discovered it just is not true, there is nothing to gain from deluding ourselves and spreading false information. This is not to offend the author of this video she did a fine job; it's just based on a popular myth.

I'm on the spectrum and I can definitely see how Pokemon would have came into existence through an autistic hyper fixation/ special interest. It's also an inspiring and powerful tool for autistic children and adults alike. Pokemon is both therapeutic and engaging while also satisfying Autistic OCD tendencies.

My brother and I are high functioning autistics. Now I think I understand why we both had such an attachment to Pokemon. It wasn’t just a fun video game. It was also something that lit our brains up and inspired us, something that wasn’t easy at the time when we were kids and autism wasn’t mainstreamed.

It's not actually officially confirmed if Satoshi is on the spectrum. As far as i know outlets cite one source, a book from 2008 called Pokemon Creator: Satoshi Tajiri. I contacted the author and she said she sourced it from a bio in a Myspace page that was supposedly Satoshis. The webpage is long gone and its not known if it was a fake or actually his. I wouldnt be surprised if he is on the spectrum but it would better if we could get Satoshi or someone on his behalf to confirm it or not.

Tajiri does not have autism. The book which every other outlet uses as a resource had an unreliable resource to begin with. Do your research

Hey y’all, I am on the autistic spectrum as well and loved the way you presented this video. I was diagnosed with the disorder after my mom caught me drawing faces on my penis and playing with it alot as a toddler. I was taken in to the doctor and the determined I was mentally retarded.
