- While Pokémon is the biggest media franchise in the world today, its creator company, Game Freak, had humble beginnings. It started not as a company, but as a self-published magazine ran by a game fanatic with poor grades and an artist kicked out of his home.
What drove them forward was the same thing: passion for the arcade. Despite the long odds and society’s expectations, these two forged onwards in order to create something they loved, and that would go on to change the world.
Before Game Freak was a company or even a magazine, it was a twinkle in the eye of a young man who loved bugs and video games; a boy who wanted to share that love, even if he had to find a way to do it all by himself. This is the tale of one Satoshi Tajiri - the real game freak!

The fact that many of these people were about to drop out college or had no idea what to do with their lives because of their love of video games, really inspire me to still pursue a game dev career too :')

Sometimes I guess what’s Tajiri doing these days. I wish he will come back one day and take the reins of game developement back in its hands. He really is a smart person and these are really hard times for pokemon. The games have lost that feeling of natureness and conflict with pollution of the beginnings. I still remembre the first time I encountered a grimer in pokemon red as a kid, every pokemon design was logic and completely fitting back in the days. Hope you are living a good life satoshi, pokemon have made mine so much better
