      Don't add olive oil no Italian adds it
      Contrary to popular myth, adding oil into the water does not stop pasta sticking together. It will only make the pasta slippery which means your delicious sauce will not stick. Instead, add salt to the pasta water when it comes to the boil and before you add the pasta.
      But the rest is okay bravo Jaime

    I think he meant that you should take some of the starchy water that was from the pot itself, and then maybe drizzle it back into the pot so that it keeps the pasta from becoming mushy. I hope that helped explain your question. :)

  • @jmgar24
    @jmgar24 Před 10 lety +6

    Na. The starchy water is added to the pasta while you are finishing it in a pan with some sauce. You have to finish cooking the pasta in a pan with the sauce in order to get the best flavor. Adding the starchy liquid makes it creamy and delicate.

    I would gently push down the Spaghetti as the lower part softens. Leaving one part up and one in the water will make it cooked uneven. And spaghetti are ready quiet fast compared to bigger kinds of pasta.

    • @IlDeimos
      @IlDeimos Před 7 lety

      Foc4ccin4 the pasta starts to melt as soon as it hits the boiling water. Thick fettuccine takes a bit longer to melt though. But if it's a thin pasta, it only takes about 10sec for it to soften in the water so you and twist the pasta into the water.

    You I like got cooking

  • @francescofilippotandoi9407

    Jamie Oliver can cook pasta! Like all of you in the comment, for sure. By the way if you want to cook pasta perfectly, when you put it in the boiling water, you can't wait 'till it goes down "naturally". Simply, because if you wait too long, the pasta in the boiling water will cook then the one outside it will not cook. In this way it is not uniformly cooked and you will have half the pasta "al-dente" and the other it's f****** over cooked. Then it's important to just not treat pasta like a punching ball, it's delicate.

    • @Fregan456
      @Fregan456 Před 6 lety +1

      I would prefer Gennaro's way to put pasta in boiling water... he doesnt lose it but simply put his hand over the pasta and let it sink slowly as the lower part became softer then lose it

    I think he is using De Cecco brand pasta, that is some good quality pasta, don't ruin it by adding oil in the water. Good quality pasta won't get your water starchy. If your pasta does make the water starchy, it is cheap quality pasta.

  • @hackerreni

    you're doing it wrong because first of all , in Italy , we use 10 grams of salt for every 100 grams of pasta. so it's not just a little bit it's the correct measure. nr2 : when you put the pasta you got the correct technique @Jaimeoliver but because of the hot temperature in the bottom the pasta for those few seconds will get not burned but risk going close to it. what you should do is just immediately immediately after you throw them in the water push them all down. all of them trust me , they won't break, they never do. so cooking pasta isn't rocket science but doing it right can be learned only if you see it in italy where it was invented and where we eat it almost everyday 😃. cheers Jamie nice video
