Today we take a closer look at the bleeding heart tetra a great beginner fish that I highly recommend!
Thanks For Watching Guys!!! Don't Forget To 👍 The Video!
These are the BEST large tetra's to add to a community tank. Unlike the Serpae clan,Bleeding hearts are not fin nippers, nor do they try to kill off each other. I do notice those sold at shops are pale colored compared to a decade ago. Not sure whats going on....maybe color enhancing food and old age will get some of that back. Lets hope some breeders do like they have done for other fish that lost color over the years on breeding in captivity...get the best wild fish again. Worked for Tinfoil Barbs..I see them now with red fins with black edging...what they SHOULD look like...
Terrific profile! I've always ignored this tetra, but thanks to you, no more. My lfs should still stock these, so I'll see about adding 6 to my 20XH tank. THANKS, AQUAPROS!
I just picked up 6 of these guys from AquaticClarity's open house today for my 55 gallon. They've already got great color.
I have atetra only tank and I fell in love with Tetras because of the bleeding harts these are my favourite fish I love Tetras please more information about them love it and thanks so much for what u do I have learned a lot form your channel to help make my hobby and fish more fun and happy thank you
YAY THIS SERIES IS BACK!!
+sen :D
my bleeding Hart tetras get along very well in my 55g Community tank love them
In my experience, these tetras can be feisty and can hold their own in a semi-aggressive environment. They are nippier than black skirts but not as nippy as serpaes and may bother gourami or angelfish unless you keep a larger school. Also, feeding them brine shrimp really accentuates the colors. Their bodies can become a nice shade of pink. A good and less nippy alternative that tends to show more color under stress is the rosy tetra, which just lack the bright pink "heart."
I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!
+Neon Tetra Aquarist Thanks buddy :D
Loving mine!
bleeding heart tetras were my first fish. they are awesome when they size up. the dorsal fin is big on the males and they put on a show every morning.
Does he have a video on how he made this tank? I'm interested to learn what sort of stones/wood he used, the plants/moss used and and the aquarium dimensions and his filtration setup. Would love to build a similar tank.
i had a similer type of this (Phantom red tetra) basiciclly the same type but diffrent color. i started with 4 and moved them to 4 diffrent tanks. they are pretty hardy fish so they stayed alive. one by one they died when i moved them and 1 suvived. hes been in my tank for 3 years now and happy.
Beautiful fish. I also have them to 65gallon tank. Roma 240. I love them.
Can you make a care video of marbled hatchetfish
Great video as always Mike! I am wanting to add a different shape of tetra to my 200L (53gallon) community tank. My stock consists of neon tetras, harlequin rasbora, rummy nose tetra, julli corys and a male HM betta. My question is, are bleeding heart tetra fin nippers? If i were to get a group of 8, would that work? If they are fin nippers which other fish would you suggest that would give a nice look to the tank by being anything but a torpedo shape. Thanks
i picked up a group of red-skirt tetras a while back, and a bleeding heart got mixed in with them. the bleeding heart has grown to be about 4X the size other the red skirts, but its the only one in the tank.
What do you think of Bleeding Heart Tetras???

Do a care tutorial on the flag tail tetra. They're not very colorful but they have lots of personality
how do you think these guys would do in a 75 gallon planted tank with angels? I was thinking Rummynose but these are cool!
Hi! I have had a algae breakout in my 5 gallon planted betta tank. I did some research and one guy said I could put in a zebra nerite snail. I was wondering if you agree, and if my tank met the standards. I have an HOB filter, I keep my tank at 76 degrees F, and I have crested java fern, java fern, and one large fake plant. I also have an anubias nana, but once I added that plant I realized that that must've caused the breakout. Thank you!
I really like their shape.
I am starting my first planted tank its a 40gal column. Any suggestions such as lighting...
My favorite tetra. And fish besides tiger barbs
Great community fish, also very similar but smaller is the Rosy Tetra. Both great in planted tanks.
+colinbarsby Hell ya!
I do have a question though, if you don't mind. What is the plant on the right side @:51 that kind of looks like a nettle?
I’ve got two and there really shy they don’t want to feed but I did get them 3 days ago
Would anyone have any experience with keeping these with black skirt tetras? Angelfish? Thanks
Can you list the plants in your aquarium? Thanks
Where do you buy all your plants from? Thanks!
My bleeding heart tetras are so cute, they keep trying to swim out the filter,no idea why, but I love that XD
My test kit says my GH is 180 ppm. He's recommending less than 8DGH. Is his a different measurement than mine?

Were those Rasbora Hets in the second bag?! Loving all the schooling fish! XD
+Allison yep! :)
I just added a pair of bleeding hearts to our new 20 gallon tank with two goldfish. The bleeding hearts seem to be staying in the bottom corner of the tank. Is this normal?
There also really hard to find in the uk, they r my dream fish!!!
Sonny Bradley I have 4
❤
Do they get a lot of babies?
I love Bleeding Hearts. Never kept any, but it's a "bucket list" fish for me. Do you think 9-11 would be too many in a planted 40-breeder with a few other species?
Anthony Ragan in a 40 breeder id get 12 and then get maybe a swordtail and maybe a few mollys and livebearers
@@bunnybuns6638 uh oh, I got 6bleedin hearts, 5blackskirts, two baby river loaches, and a black cat fish all in a 29gal
mike what kind of plants are big and hardy I'm gonna try for a planted cichlid tank
+Nic Orta If you go with dwarf cichlids then you wont have to worry about plants ;) Amazon swords, pretty much all of them, are big and hardy
Lemon Tetra, make a vid about them
what fish likes to love in a 55 gallon, high ph 8.0, higher nitrates, and pretty open water. it is do to a common pleco being big and knocking anything in the way so i moved a kotnof things out.
Nature's Finest cichlids come to mind !
Russell NKD will they eat tetras and zebra danios. also i thought they needed rock structures. so i could only get a few?

+Russell NKD Its got a white background!
I have a question, what are those fish called that are pink and black? I really would want them in my 180l aquarium

Kaitlyn1434 Of course
My fish 4 tetra
can i have 2 in a 20 gallon with 6 neons, 6 guppies,1 dewarf honey gourami,3 swordtails,4 corys, and one apisto
Srividya Sadasivam they are a schooling fish and would appreciate more fish of the same species. I've found that schooling fish kept in small numbers get stressed out and become aggressive towards each other and other fish.
Srividya Sadasivam that's insanely overstocked
2:13 Forever lonely
what plant was at 0:58?
Bob's Dank Tanks pogostemon helferi
They all have little man buns
are those low tech plants ?
+Nic Orta They do need a good substrate, if you just have gravel/sand you can add root tabs to help em out
thanks man great informative videos 👍
i have one of these but his hart is black
and red
Too plain for me. I do like the video format though.
This is NOT a beginner fish. He should be provided soft, acidic water.
MegaAxelG It doesn't take an expert to provide a fish with acidic water...
EEEEW
Whats Fahrenheit? Seems a bit foolish to use a metric thats hardly used anywhere in the world on a international video!
