Mount Bromo is located in the city of my birth, Probolinggo, East Java.
If you want to go there at a lower cost, you can take the train from Surabaya to Probolinggo for two hours. Then look for a travel driver to take you two to the Madakaripura waterfall first 9:46
Enjoy it, and then head to the Cemorolawang, Bromo, to stay at night.
Wake up at 2 am, then look for a jeep driver who is willing to take you both, or share with other passengers to make it cheaper, to Penanjakan Bromo to see the sunrise 7:02
Don't forget to remember your driver and the jeep.
When finished, you will be taken back down through the desert and towards the Bromo crater 8:58
If you want to go to Mount Ijen 15:42
You can take the train from Probolinggo to Banyuwangi for 4 hours. then look for a travel driver who will take you to the top of Ijen.
Right across from Banyuwangi is the Bali Island. It only takes 30 minutes to cross to the Bali Island by ferry. But it takes 2.5 hours by road from Gilimanuk Port to Denpasar

It took one hour more via the toll way from Surabaya to Bromo mountain and also one hour more from Surabaya to Malang via the toll way. If you wish to see the sunrise at about 5:20 am you have to go to the Pananjakan 1 or Kingkong hill just 200 meter beneath Pananjakan 1. On August and September the weather will be about 2°C--6°C. You can see the amazing Bromo mountain, Batok Mountain, Widodaren mountain (the spring of water) and Mahameru Mountain (3676 m) above the sea level the highest mountain at Java island. Madakaripura waterfall lies not far away from Bromo. You can go back via the toll way to Surabaya City just one hour more from Bromo. Please try a variety of very delicious culinary in various places in the city of Surabaya. Please stay at Majapahit Hotel at the central of Surabaya.
