@@RK800-re5lf I read it as a Persona 5 reference, but the fact that the joke works as a standalone that well makes it my favourite one. Especially with how low-key it was presented.

Yes, but the comparison was off... BG3 has Raphael's fight in the house of hope plus a couple more performed by in-game characters as well, so is mostly a toss based on your preferences :p

Yeah, during that scene I thought "Uhm ... gloves?!". But what a unique experience this game is! That musical sequence was genious (and gave me Peacemaker vibes). I usually don't like surrealim but both Alan Wake games (as well as Control) do it right!
If you're legit someone from Remedy I can't give you enough kudos for this game. It was more than worth the 13 year wait. I loved every minute of the game, the story, and I can't wait for Final Draft mode.
Time for a patch!

‘Previously in Alan Wake’ gave me chills. Memories flooded back.
6:01 Alan Wake would anihilate Max Payne due to absolute advantage the bright flashlight to the face gives against hangover.
And then Jesse annihilates them both by yeeting chunks of concrete at them while hovering around the ceiling.
I'm amazed you guys managed to review an Honest Trailer about Alan Wake 2, WITHOUT using a Jurassic Park "Alan!" reference.

“And no one uses gloves anymore” is what I said 10 minutes into the game. Either way I love this game. 10/10
Well no, he can't just write anything into his story.....it has to fit within the genre and has to follow a narrative causality (this was explained in the first game).
It's also clearly explained in the second game too. Some people just seem to miss it for some reason lol That said, it was worth the misunderstanding as it did lead to a damn good joke
I recall something to that effect, as well. There are rules, and he has to try to make his way out of a nearly impossible situation by finding loopholes in those rules, or clever ways to subvert them; a writer's dream and nightmare combined, sort of. It's not just survival; if he can pull it off, it's also proof that he can construct a compelling and plausible narrative.
But also getting out of the hell dimension, yeah.

Alan Wake EASTER EGG in Control!? I think you mean a WHOLE ASS DLC
The Easter egg was there before the DLC was announced. It's the page from Wake's manuscript in the Panopticon that's shown in the video. The DLC just confirmed the rumors that came from that.
Even before the dlc was announced, you could find a hidden room in the Panopticon upper levels (Panopticon is the place where they store and emprison Altered items) which had a typewriter and going close to it would make an echo of Alan appear, talking about trying to escape. I found this before the dlc was announced and as I huge fan of Alan Wake I was ecstatic!

Fun fact: one of the most well known My Little Pony OC's first appeared in an MLP/Alan Wake crossover.

I agree with how much of a powerhouse you felt in Control and I thought the same about his imagination.
The reason he can't write a deus ex machina for himself is that it would be bad writing/art and that is "against the rules" of the dark place
@@fatidicusaeternus6498I do like how they set up the rules for the Dark place in the first game. Aside from just squashing the whole "why not just write your way out" question it actually really puts emphasis on the constraints of good creative processes
This game is pure Remedy. Which is either a good thing or a bad thing.
Considering that they really haven't recovered from Quantum Break based on what people are criticizing, I'd say it's a bad thing. I'm just waiting for Max Payne 1 and 2 remake. I've lost most of my hope for the "old guard." Sam Lake is also the same person who signed off on Max Payne 3's story... look at how that franchise went when Rockstar took over.

It’s good imo - don’t need another Ubisoft or EA, so let’s get a Remedy, which does something different. Can at least commend them for that. Remedy only makes Remedy games.

It's honestly a shame this game isn't selling as well as it should. That Old Gods of Asgard sequence alone made it worth the price. Hopefully more people check it out in the future
It got plenty of GOTY nominations and has a decent shot at winning GOTY. Good words of mouth would help. Alan Wake 1 wasn't a huge financial success either. It just became a cult classic because of words of mouth.

This game plays EXACTLY like some Resident Evil games. Small amount of super powerful enemies, inventory management and upgrades, hidden treasures. I honestly did not expect that after the first one.
No. It plays better. Less enemies, but they're tougher and the atmosphere keeps tense all throughout the game.
@@FelipeKana1it's better, but still the same style. The combat is my least favorite part of this game, but the story and narrative make it worth it. I love 3rd person action, but this a lil clunky. Still fun though. GOTY nod deserved.

@@FelipeKana1 My impression was that it's worse actually. The enemies insta tping into meele range just doesn't work well with type of shooting mechanic

Ngl, Saga's near-magical deduction abilities were one of the weakest bits of the narrative. Like, I would get it if say Rose mentioned "Oh, (resident) always steals from the other residents. Her nightstand is practically a shrine of stolen goods" and that lets her deduce maybe the missing item is there, but it really feels like she's just cheating and checking the game wiki 😂😂
I mean, I didn't dislike the explanation given.
While at the start her deductions might have felt mighty annoying, the fact that their weirdness was mentioned by other characters kept me intrigued enough to reach the explanation.
@@delmattia96 She's related to MULTIPLE parautilitarians. Tor, Odin and Door; their powers are in her blood, I think it's a perfectly fine explanation for why she can do what she can.

if anybody still playing this, after you avoid the attacks, even if it isn't a perfect dodge, attack without aiming to hit them with the flashlight, that stuns them a good time enough for you to reload or aim for a headshot, i wish i knew earlier
