A lot of people are making the same joke about how they're conjoined twins, so how did she go missing? But the thing is, if you listen to The Tragic Events (I don't remember if it was part 1 or 2 but I think it was 2), Evelyn explains that she had a nightmare about Evelyn going missing. Since in the storyline, the girls are established as musicians, it's not too far off that they would make a silly song like this together to ease Evelyn's concerns of Evelyn going missing.

For everyone wondering about how they did the animation, they most likely did it on a the actual animation on a separate digital program for lines and such, they then put it on a different layer with lowered opacity above the real life footage, and then they just have the singers look like they're drawing the lines

Okay, this was the first song I've heard from this Album. At first, it was a happy, innocent song, but then.. the comments.. I wanted to know the story, so instead of learning to an exam I had to go deeper into the story. The tragic events of september, Chicken man, Sandy Fishnets, A campaign of shock and awe, Elephant Elephant, My space, Love will tear us apart, Evelyn Evelyn and you only want me cause you want my sister -- all of them were so, SO dark, yet beautiful! This story is really sad, but beautiful. After I've heard this song the second time, it was very, very dark.

Okay so first you should listen to the album but if you don’t have time basically they’re conjoined twins with a very tragic past and the go into the *cough* circus where these dudes do the nasty to them and they meet elephant elephant they’re sad and in a cage but that’s irrelevant relevant and then some more sad stuff happens and then elephant elephant dies and this song is Evelyn having a dream that Evelyn has been removed from their body and iz really sad and I don’t want to spoil all of it, and that was a really bad depiction of it so you should definitely listen to the whole playlist by evelyn Evelyn :)))

Okay, so, you know how they were wiping the heads off the characters and "killing them" and then at the end, Evelyn wiped the window where her head is? I'm guessing that's essentially "killing" her, meaning the basic "one Evelyn killed the other" theory is true.

Alexis Lyle it's like recording a video or making a 3D one, CONVERTING THE WHOLE VIDEO TO FREEZEFRAMES and tracing over it with what you want to convey. Disney did this a lot with older films and it's still currently a very popular practice.
hi I know this is an old comment but I do computer graphics. They made the cartoon, pasted it over the frost, and set it so the cartoon is an invisible mask over the frost. The actors stood behind the clear window and moved so it looked like they were drawing it, and the cartoon was animated over that background. It's similar to how greenscreens are used.

for being so old, it’s extremely well made. i really would love the know the process it took to make this, since it’s 10 years old now and this is still fairly professional and can even keep up with today’s cgi.

I love this song, and the animation, though I have to wonder how they did it sometimes.
Kathrine Kishabob it's actually pretty simple if you have some animation editing experience. Most likely, they made a transparent animation filmed the live action parts of the video, and then layered the two together. It's pretty difficult to pull off but with a bit of professional experience, it's doable.
*THEORY:*
Took a picture of the window when it was foggy, and when it was clear,
Overlay them,
Make an animation by erasing the fog from some areas,
Make the windows seem slightly transparent,
Take a video of Evelyn and Evelyn drawing on the window and put it behind the animation,
Done.
Just an idea.

hmmm, i may be the only one to think this, but the upbeat nature of the song almost feels as tho its a facade. Like the sister looking for Evelyn has gone crazy and the sister that ran away, is actually running from her??
Idk but the way it started off all sweet and nice but then derailed into wishing her sister is dead in a ditch somewhere seems to me as though she is frustrated she cant find her sister so she can kill her. I've listened to (and loved) 'Evelyn, Evelyn' and in it I noticed that one sister is defo more angry and hateful than the other. Maybe that anger and hate towards her sister made her insane? Maybe they knew the location ahead of time, drew an animation knowing the setting/ general camera movements, filmed it, giving the performers the drawing from behind the window to loosely replicate, layered animation on top applying a subtract effects layer, and added 3D fog and water droplets! A lot of work and mediums!

I had a weird theory about the drawing on 0:52. What if one of the twins drew what she thought mrs. Bulger looked like from Sandy fishnets. And both were ok with distorting her drawing appearance. Then the other Evelyn waited for the animion with said distortions came by and she "killed"/ wiped it away. As a possibility over karma what could have happened to mrs. Bulger in a woman's prison over Sandy, the twins, her own kids, and Malissa may. Since she made them do CP unwillingly and both twins loathe her for it. Just a thought. I think this song takes place after the song “You only want me cause you want my sister” because in that song a boy was in love with one of the twins but the other twin was in love with the boy, so one of the twins killed her sister so that she could have the boy for herself, in the last line of the song it says something like “You can’t deny how much I miss her, but now you know you want me not my sister” it’s honestly really dark. But yeah, that’s what I believe.

This music video is very creative with the window fog drawings and the music complements it as well as the overall theme of the backstory very nicely too. I especially find it cool but also depressing how the entire song is about the one sister looking for the other, implying that they would be separate people in separate bodies. However, when one of the Evelyn sisters wipes away a big area of humidity along the window at the end of the video, she's showing that that's not the case, revealing her and her shoulder connecting to the other sister's who's not to far away, showing that they're conjoined twins.
This is like one of two upbeat songs in the whole album.
may not be correlated but the "sailor friend" reminds me of the song sandy fishnets now that ive listened to the whole thing. if so ouch, right in the heart guys :,)

The first time I was watching this, I was too focused on the song and the animation. So the ending had come as a shock.
