The perfect storm - I'll buy that! I'll mention that all 3 can and do sing lead _while still playing their instruments._ Yes, the drummer can belt out a song while drumming furiously. You'll get recommendations for their new stuff, but their 2nd album, _Queen of the Murder Scene,_ is a concept album that traces a girl's descent from unrequited love to obsession, stalking, murder, and then the battle against her evil side for her soul. And they wrote it all, as mid-teens and younger.

Their sound is a classic hard rock sound with elements of punk, pop, grunge, and even a little metal. This makes for a sound that is unique yet still familiar. It is a straight-ahead in-your-face hard rock sound. This song is from their third studio album, released as two EPs (eventually). Official music videos are available for most of the new songs (though they might get blocked) and live studio session videos which won't get blocked are also available. Try their song called "Evolve." If you are a fan of the classic hard rock sound, you will love these girls. They also have a large following known as The Warning Army which should be showing up soon. Thanks!

I just 'discovered' The Warning about 2 months ago and I quickly went down the rabbit hole. They have incredible energy, have a very loyal fan base, and are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They treat their fan base like family and provide a lot of personal interaction you don't see from many artists. On top of that, I've yet to hear a song from them I didn't like, even going back to their very first EP. I'm in my fifties and their music just reminds me of the days when you got in your car, rolled down the windows, and cranked your stereo as loud as you could, and you would just drive. It's in your face, no frills, rock. I honestly don't have a favorite song of theirs. It's always whatever I listened to last. So I hope you keep reacting to them and come to enjoy them as much as a lot of us do. I enjoyed your break down. It puts you in a different class as a reactor. I would recommend the official music videos for Evolve (watch Pau the drummer), and the remake of Enter Sandman with Alessia Cara. It's not a straight cover. After that I recommend their live sessions because these young women are better live. Now that you've reacted to Choke, you might want to check out recent concert footage of that song so you get an idea of their stage presence. Here's a version from House of Blues in Vegas. czcams.com/video/HJRj6derCZY/video.html. By the way, all 3 sing and Pau (the drummer) sings lead vocals on several of their songs.

I have not one bone of contention to pick with your analysis. I would add that they write their own music as well. Pau is the principle creative song writer, but no song gets recorded without each sister’s input. If it was up to Pau, they would be a dark brooding band. If were up to Ale, they would be funky and Dany is a straight up rocker. When you meld the three of their musical personalities it turns to pure gold. No studio musicians. No autotune. Its just in your face energy and a love for what they do. Their super power is playing live. If you chose to review the live performances not only will the video not get blocked, but you will get a feel for how they sound live.

The Warning are three sisters that started making music very young Alejandra (Ale = Aleh, not the beer. Bass, backing vocals and keyboard, the youngest- 17) and Paulina (Pau = Pow. Drums, backing/lead vocals and keyboard, middle sister 20) at 3 and Daniela (Dany = Dany. Guitar, lead vocals and keyboard, the oldest 22) 5, all learning classical piano. They got the video game Rock Band and fell in love with the feeling of performing on other instruments. Their father asked if they wanted to learn another instrument and the girls jumped at the opportunity and gravitated to the instruments they played in Rock Band.
They had been uploading their musical journey to CZcams for their family to see and had wanted to try and play music together as a band around 2012 and started rehearsed for a small performance for their school xmas show. Well They loved the experience so much they began learning and playing cover songs of hard rock and metal bands. One song in particular shot them into the limelight. That song, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica had gone viral (currently over 22 000 000 views) and had gotten the attention of Metallica, Dee Snyder and The Ellen Show! The Warning wrote, composed and recorded an EP called Escape the Mind in 2015 to experience that whole process and to determine what type of music they liked to make... Thankfully they chose Rock/Hard Rock! Ellen Degeneres invited the band to play live on her show, to which they accepted and played "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne, after the performance Ellen and Target awarded the sisters $10,000 each to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma. USA.
They performed a number of small and large shows afterward and began writing and composing new material for their first full length album "XXI Century Blood" in 2017. They supported this album with some very high profile gigs like opening for Def Leppard and separately The Killers for two shows each in Mexico. Also following other large rock bands in a couple music festivals. In 2018 they wrote and recorded "Queen of the Murder Scene" and released it in November of that year and have toured Mexico and South American venues.
In June of 2019 they released a single, "Narcisista". A scathing rebuke of their Mexican critics that had accused the band of being "Malinchista" a Mexican term used to call out cultural traitors, because the group has only recorded English language songs. Well this song is in Spanish and it is full of attitude and angst fired toward those critics. This was recorded live in June 2019 at Foro Didi in Monterrey Mx (their hometown) - czcams.com/video/O7IAEhN4RMM/video.html
The Warning is totally fan-funded through Patreon, CZcams and crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe and Kickstarter. They have turned down offers from record labels and talent shows like American Idol because they did not want to lose their control of their music, image and wanted to focus on learning. In fact in one interview with a record label they were asked if they would rather play to 12 people or 12000. Paulina piped up and said The Warning would rather play in front of 12 if it meant they would keep their integrity and could play the music they want to play, how they want to play... That is the most Rock n Roll quote ever!
So after a very successful Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a North American tour and to record a new album achieving their goal within 24 hours and surpassing that goal by 600%. Unfortunately the Covid-19 Pandemic forced the band to cancel their tour plans and postpone making their album. Their last live show before the global lockdown was March 14 2020 at the Vive Latino 2020 Festival in Mexico City. This did not stop The Warning from performing though, they played a full concert set from their basement studio/rehearsal space for free for their fans on CZcams and Facebook achieving well over 50,000 simultaneous viewers on March 25, 2020. They have since performed from The Warning Cave couple more times including for the city of Brownsville, Tx. for the Fourth of July virtual celebration and later in the summer for a charity event with rock legends like Slash and Ringo Star.
On August 9th 2020 The Warning announced to their Patreon community that after seven long months of negotiations they had signed a five record deal with Lava Records, a label under the Republic Records and Universal Music family. During the announcement they reiterated their dedication to their own creative integrity and dedicated fans on Patreon and were able to retain both in their record contract with Lava. In Sept of 2020 The Warning traveled to New Jersey, USA to begin rehearsal and eventually recording of their third album. After three months of recording and a month and a half of mastering, mixing and editing the third album was completed at the beginning of February, 2021.
In March of 2021 The Warning was invited to cover a song from Metallica's eponymous 5th album (The Black Album) with Canadian Grammy and Juno award winning pop star Alessia Cara for Metallica's Blacklist album. A 30th anniversary celebration for the Metallica ablum. They selected to record Enter Sandman, a fitting song because it was this song that propelled The Warning 7 years previous into stardom. The Warning reimagined the song with Alessia and produced a fresh new feeling that goes above and beyond what others have done with the song...
On May 21 2021 they released the single "Choke" to critical acclaim czcams.com/video/TlOy0XbFVlM/video.html . Followed by a new release roughly every month through to Sept.
On October 8th, 2021, The Warning released six songs that were recorded for the new album on an EP titled Mayday with the remaining 6 song to be released at a later date.
So now you've been WARNED! I hope you will check out more of their music and see how they have grown. Here is a recommended viewing list to see their evolution:

You have fallen down the rabbit hole. When you see them live, you will understand why old and young rockers are so enthusiastic about The Warning, their sound, their songwriting, their honesty. More hard rock than metal, definitely. Or as they would say, "You have been warned!" Songs you might want to check out: "Black Holes", "Z", "Alone", "Dust to Dust" and their take on "Enter Sandman" for the Blacklist album. #NumberlyGarf

Another consideration in TW's musical talent is that all three sisters were classicly trained pianists in early childhood. They "graduated" to playing rock together as a band after Alejandra, the youngest, picked up the bass around the age of 8.

Yeah, you nailed it. Lzzy Hale is an influence, among many others. They also have a giant mirror in their basement studio (aka The Cave) that they practice their stage performances to, and they are very artistic and work very hard with their craft. You should definitely check out more from them. The studio tracks are killer, and they also have a live version of every song they've recorded which are fantastic. Looking forward to seeing you check out more. 🤘⚡🔥

Slight correction, they have MULTIPLE live versions of every song they've ever recorded. There are dozens of live recordings of Choke from probably a dozen or more different venues. Obviously audio quality varies a lot since most are cell phone recordings.

      @FullTexanEffect Před 2 lety +3

Slight correction, the numerous live versions include fan cams, live sessions, acoustic sets, and proshot footage. Also, for a variety of reasons, they will switch around who sings lead. All three can sing lead AND continue to play their instruments.

I had to laugh when you said the drummer is stuck behind the kit, while this is true, Pau does not go unnoticed, if anything she puts on a show that draws you in to her performance, you look at her as she drums and what a show it is. Ale on the bass is a joy to watch also, she doesn't stand there like a stiff candle, she flows all over the stage like a pro. And when Dany gets out from behind the mic, there is no where on stage she doesn't go, left, right, on the drum riser you name it she goes there.
As the others have mentioned all their new material is great, check out Evolve, Disciple, Martirio, Z and Animosity. But also delve into their independent albums like their rock noel concept album Queen of the Murder scene where each song tells the continuing story of unrequited love, obsession, murder and full blown psychosis. They are fantastic live and if anything better live than their studio versions.
As i look up from the bottom of The Warning rabbit hole I await eagerly to see you dive headfirst into a world of music that will blow your mind, written performed and produced by three girls who were not even out of high school (in fact one still hadn't even started) when they wrote their first 2 albums.

How sad that that was the last show and the only show where they got to meet the late great Taylor Hawkins and his words to them was what a great show. Their channel just posted a beautiful behind-the-scenes look at their experience opening for the Foo Fighters and the very last scene was Dave asking them how everything went and then he walked past Taylor who lifted his drumsticks in the air and said what a great show and the frame froze and the next screen said rest in peace Taylor Hawkins. For a group of teenage protégés, what a beautiful way to pay respect to a legend. These girls know how to do it right and someday they will be in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame. I hope I’m alive to see it!

A masterpiece in its own right. Choke is my favourite from the new EP alongside Martirio (a Spanish song from the girls). Dany (guitar & vocals) has this amazing voice and hits you straight to the face when she belts. The vocal gymnastics is off the charts in this song. Dany is a big fan of Lzzy Hale so I’m sure she would love the comparison. Best front woman in rock & roll in my opinion 🔥😊

  • @krash66
    @krash66 Před 2 lety +13

Awesome reaction, Mate! Yes, you have just scratched the surface of The Warning. All three started out classically trained on piano, basically since Kindergarten age. They obsessively played rock band until each was allowed by their parents to choose a second instrument at ages 7-8. Then when the youngest started playing Bass around 8yo, they started playing together as a band. They started playing covers, then were challenged by one of their teachers to start writing their own music. Then they attended the summer program at Berklee School of Music in Boston, after appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres show and each given $10k for tuition. This is where they learned stage performance. They released an EP of originals in 2015, then in 2017 they released their first full album called XXI Century Blood, with an incredible variety of great rock. Then in 2018 they wrote an entire concept album called Queen of the Murder Scene, and it is an absolute Masterpiece, and I don't say that lightly. I am a 55yo rocker since birth and a drummer since 8yo. These sisters are MASTER songwriters. After being pursued for years by record labels, they finally signed with . Lava/Republic Records to a 5 album deal in summer of 2020. They immediately went into the studio with producer David Bendeth, and recorded 12 new songs. But, the pandemic has kept them being able to tour, so they released the first 6 songs as an EP called Mayday. Choke is the first single and the most "radio friendly"/"poppy"/"commercial" song they've ever released, IMHO. And it is still great!
Their songwriting is what sets them head and shoulders above most bands of this generation. They manage to Rock HARD yet still their songs are catchy with powerful, insightful lyrics. These sisters truly are Aliens. I'm convinced of it. They are 3 Unicorns from the planet Rocktopia, here to save Rock!
40+ original songs already and the oldest just turned 22, and not one bad song, or filler track in the bunch.

Lzzy Hale has been a big influence on the band, especially Dany, and Danys vocals have really reached that Lzzy Hale type of belting. Lzzy Hale happened to be on the same bill as The Warning and many other acts,a few years back when Covid first put the world in lockdown, and after The Warning performed,Lzzy immediately mentioned how she'd love the band to tour with Halestorm - and 2 years later,it's just been announced that The Warning will be special guests appearing with Halestorm and the Pretty Reckless (not a fan),on an upcoming tour,I only hope that Lzzy will get up on stage with them as she said she'd love to work with them... it's long overdue that The Warning are getting the recognition they deserve. Finally, someone who says what I've been saying since I heard The Warning! (Please react to "XXI Century Blood" to see how they have killed for years) Most heavy bands are in your face and intense either the entire song or they may have a drop and then back to intense. Listening to The Warning is like riding rough seas, changing intensity, speed, and tone multiple times in one song. And even though each could shred a standout solo, they only do what feeds the song best. They smash it every time.

Interesting you mention Max Martin. His music factory is built in teams creating chorus, loops, verses etc and then they work pieces together to songs. In some occasions Pau has explained how she writes the music and she is doing the same as Max Martin’s team by writing numerous amount of clips (she has more that 500-600 clips now as she said she had 400 clips some years ago) and then they put it together as a team.

I think all but about 3 of my (around) 100 videos are demonetized or claimed. I don't even dispute it as "fair use" because the organisations that do the scruitinizing never actually watch the videos anyway. It's a waste of time trying. Ale turned 17 in December, Pau turned 20 in February, and Dany turned 22 in January. They already have two EPs, twp albums, and a couple singles, plus there's a new single (not necessarily 'single' in the classic sense, just a song released by itself) coming at the end of March. When they go live on Instagram, they're so sweet and funny and adorable in the ways young women of their ages often are, but on stage they're as intense and badass as it gets, especially Dany and ESPECIALLY Pau. They have the chemistry you'd except from sisters with similar interests that are that close in age. One thing about The Warning is that their second album, Queen on the Murder Scene, is probably best listened to in order. It's a dark story about obsession, murder, and insanity.
I know perfectly well what you're saying about physical movement being important. One of the guys I grew up with is one of the best guitarists I know. He can learn and play anything almost instantly, he's taught me a lot, but when we play, he stands in one place mostly expressionless shredding away. He wants to be the best he can be, but he's never had the ambition to do anything with it beyond playing private parties and small bars. I stopped bothering trying to get him to be more outgoing, kinetic, and expressive while playing because I know that that's just not him.
As far as family bands go, there's another one out there from North America. They're called Liliac. They're a band of five siblings originally from California, two sisters and three brothers, and they started as a band doing covers on the Santa Monica pier. Probably the biggest draw is Melody, the younger sister and middle sibling. She's the singer and sometimes bass guitarist and has a voice that is wonderfully unique. I think she just turned 20. Like The Warning, they don't reinvent the wheel, but everything they do is done well, though they're typically a little harder than the Villearreal sisters. I'm going to recommend their original song "Nothing." Here's a link.

Just a word about the subject. If you hear it too literally it can sound like assisted suicide, and that ain't it.
Much or most of the time when you're hurting, grieving, crying, people will say things that are supposedly to comfort you, but they're not. They're to shut you up and make THEM less uncomfortable with you. Things like "Aw, there there, please don't cry" or "It's okay, it's not so bad" that devalue your feelings, your grief.
So here it is "let me drown" in my tears and my emotions, facing them honestly instead of stuffing them.

I much prefer analytic reviews like this; subbing for that.
I suggest watching their recent concert in Torreon, MX on Erick Alderete's channel. That will answer all your questions about stage presence (and pretty much everything else).
This is actually my least favorite song on Mayday. But there is no consensus on ranking; it is purely personal taste. "Least favorite" has to be taken with a grain of salt, though; it's only because in a forced ranking one of them has to be there.
My suggestions to follow up are Disciple, Evolve, Martirio (which is clearly going to be their anthem in Spanish-speaking countries), Narcisista, particularly at Foro Didi (you don't think the drummer can perform?), Dust to Dust, The End, Black Holes, Queen of the Murder Scene, Sinister Smiles, and Survive. There's a bit of intuition based on what you discussed, but that will provide a lot of variety. Survive is my personal favorite; it's wildly euphoric, but there's a huge logjam right behind it.
And then there's their 2021 version of Enter Sandman. The Torreon performance is best. It is not what you think it is.

Nice.I like a first time reactor that does a little homework!!And they will be playing a stadium with Foo Fighters this month. For a real journey check out Dany,PAU,Ale on Queen Of The Murder Sceen,it is TW concept album...yes at their young ages they already have done a concept album!!Yes LZZY is one of Dany's Rock icons she loves and looks up to,and funfact Lzzy has said she would love to do some shows with TheWarning!!Actually if you watch enough of PAULINA(PAU)on the drums you see she really uses her whole body to kill that poor kit..and she controls a lot through the laptop next to her of the whole band and overall performance!!Yes "the perfect storm"the Storm is Coming and on TOUR now!!Not really a bad choice with TW.But my two overall favorites that happen to be more of a the ballad type of songs feature the drummer as lead ...czcams.com/video/dLoGCfFiHxA/video.html......czcams.com/video/qj-8vFuqIng/video.html....

Super 1st time reaction to The Warning PrymalChaos!
The Villarreal sisters are amazing songwriters and performers. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "Queen of the Murder Scene", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and the fight for her soul. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI Century Blood", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "Escape the Mind"; and it is amazing.
Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group in the fall of 2020. They decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called Mayday. "Disciple" is my favorite track.
The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (civil engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English speaking school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. A year or so later, they got "real" instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history.
Amazing they are 22, 20 and 17 years old and have already written and arranged #44 original songs all by themselves! The oldest, Dany (Daniela) plays guitar, keyboards, lead vocals on 75% of their songs, backing harmonies. Pau (Paulina) plays drums, keyboards, lead vocals on 25% of their songs, backing harmonies. Ale` (Alejandra) plays bass, keyboards, backing harmonies.
The drummer Pau begins writing around 75% of their songs. In her songs, she starts with a concept, then works on chord progressions and basic song structure on piano while adding lyrics. She then brings it before her sisters and together they transpose each individual instrument's part; making changes along the way. They also complete the lyrics together; since Pau may only bring one verse and a chorus. All 3 must unanimously approve of each instrument's part and each vocal harmony before it becomes a completed song. Nothing is set in stone until it makes it through the gauntlet. Pau has said if not for her sisters, her songs would be different. Both Dany and Ale` write equally great songs; just not as many.
I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. I hope you get to see them LIVE soon.
Looking forward to watching you discover this great band.

You need to check out the band Liliac, all siblings, 2 sisters and 3 brothers, the lead singer Melody has got the raspy rock voice, the other sister Abagail kills it on drums, the lead guitar just shreds it, the do fantastic covers of Metalica, Dio, but their originals are really good, just thought you might want to check them out
