Not only do I sincerely respect and dig Jon Hiseman's playing, but he is an interesting and insightful guy to boot! One of the greats!
Jon looks really good here. How many hours of pure musical joy we owe him... Thanks Jon
Great setup Jon RIP
JH is one of the greatest musicians on earth!! I hope he can go on for a while, because he is 70 years old.
Colosseum is still the best band ever .
My all time favourite drummer - I used to get up listening to his drum solos. Still do on occasion.
Great stuff Spike..I REALLY enjoy these interviews.
What a fab interview with Jon Hiseman (I liked the second one as well). He is so grounded and down to earth with his comments and I am so sorry he has now departed. I saw hi at a drum clinic at the Fender Soundhouse in London, UK I think once in the mid 1970's and he was really great. I have two of the Collosseum albums as well and he was one of the finest progressive rock drummers out there then.
Thankyou - glad you enjoyed the interview - such a nice man Jon!
Wonderful interview. Such a fantastic drummer, can't wait to see Colosseum again next year. Looking forward to part two!
Thank you Spike for this, Great watching Jon and you chat. I first seen Colosseum in Top Rank, Cardiff in 69/70 when I was 16/17 and my mother made me go to the gig in a suit and collar and tie lol!. I have been a fan of Colosseum since and I have all their L.P's and C.D's. Like Jon I was once a school boy with a loving mum loved that bit of Jon's story. Great video thanks for sharing.
So glad you enjoyed it - yes he's a legend drummer and a great guy. Part two is now up on the channel, hope you like that too!
Awesome ! thanks very much .
After stumbling upon the 2nd part of the interview, I absolutely had to watch part 1.Thankyou.
So glad you enjoyed it!
He’s very conversational and I love it!
This guy was a great.
Thx Spike! Fantastic interview!
You're welcome - glad you liked it!
RIP Jon, and thank you.
One of my favorite drummers. Incredible!
+House of The Red Thunder Glad you liked it - he's a real nice guy!
It's a shame how few people know who he is (and how great he was), at least in the US.
After all not really bad: You form one of the very best bands in the world, you are one of two (Ginger Baker was the other one) best drummers in Rock, you work on having a great family and you stay a cool guy ... Jon, you must have done something right in your life.
Baker was overrated
@@chickentwisties2298 Come on, stop thinking such silly thoughts. Ever listend to the Ginger Baker Trio(with Charlie Haden and Bill Frisell)?

I have it's very good still doesn't make him the top 2 best drummers in rock jus saying...
Spike, thanks for this. Great interview, and it doesn’t surprise me that Jon’s a very thoughtful guy. It comes across in the music. Also, and I’m sure Colosseum fans know this, but the “Things We Like” album with Jack Bruce, John McLaughlin & Dick Hextall-Smith is a great example of Jon’s talent.
You're welcome - glad you enjoyed it!
Very sad news about Jon. It was with Graham Bond that I first saw him play. Colosseum were unbelievable live too. A pity that I never got to meet him.
Thanks for sharing the interview with this master! Think how were the rehearsals with Jon and DHS back in the day. :P
A pleasure - glad you enjoyed it!
Wow
Great drummer all them 60s drummers in rock came from a jazz background they all could swing from Ginger Baker,Charlie Watts to Bonham & Bill Ward u see alot of drummers today all tech but it‘s about the feel & what not to play.
Wot, no Ringo? :-)
JH seems to have forgotten James Litherland, who played and sang on the Valentyne Suite, disappearing off the face of the earth shortly thereafter
now you tell me?
Colosseum 2 was even better
Malcolm McDowell-ish :-))
Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor, which was removed a couple of days ago.
He has been moved to Hospice, and is not expected to live much longer. he had a Brain Bleed post-surgery. If you are on FB, perhaps ask to join the Colosseum FB page. facebook.com/groups/190791594273657/
