Colors of Tobi: Being Transgender in Hungary

- There is a tiny village in Hungary, where Éva and her family live. Her 16-year-old child recently came out as transgender and lives by his chosen name of Tobi. After the initial shock, the whole family comes together to support him.
However, Éva is quietly suffocating from the idea of losing the girl she was raising. Tobi is determined to become a man biologically, all while he struggles growing up. Éva is trying hard to be the mother her son needs, while Tobi starts questioning the boundaries he set up for himself as a transgender man.
'Colors of Tobi' is an emotional tale of releasing and accepting.

This is not about feelings, it's identity. And also, gender is not determined by genetics, nonetheless.

I don't understand why some transgender people get upset so easily, not understanding that people have to get used to it. When in 17:43 Tobi is upset because his mom called him "Jazmin" is inlogical to me. They were clearly talking about a situation that happened in the past, so it was normal for his mom to say "we used to say Jazmin, not it" because then it was in fact, Jazmin. Parents also have to deal with a lot when their child is changing their whole appearance, name and getting a sex change when they were living years with a whole different person
It's because this is about power and attention. These people don't actually believe they are the opposite gender.

As a transman, I NEVER got upset. These things take time. People around me got scared when they accidentally did it wrong and were so surprised when I wasn't mad. I'm on hormones now, and it has never happened since as I now pass and look completely male
Because being called your old name or gender is physically painful. it may not seem like it but it feels like being stabbed in the chest. on top of the depressive state.
Why do they all look, act, talk, and dress the same, no matter which country? It's almost like it's an internet based social contagion.

@@RabbitWatchShop. I don’t care what an adult chooses to be. But what has upset me as a women is elevating men identifying as women OVER women.
I see it in sports, change rooms and bathrooms.
Transgender women should not compete against biological women. The two sports men/ boys and women/gils exist because the male sex is physically stronger/ faster than females, end of story.
The bathroom/ change room, I’ll just say I would NEVER choose to be in a state of vulnerability of being partially or fully undressed in an enclosed room with a strange man in such a setting. Especially as I have been physically assaulted by a man in my past.
I wish people who call women against shared spaces “ transphobia “ would also consider that something like one in three women/girls have experienced some form of abuse and how it makes us feel.

I was waiting for a physical change of Tobi due to male hormones...but I only see a female wearing oversized clothes - who has got a name and sex change on documents.
I work with someone who is a male now and was a female before. Very nice dude. Its just....the dude I work with takes hormones and has a beard.
I'm just reading these mean comments and keep thinking about one thing: are you guys okay? So much hate from ppl who are not well-educated on the topic. Trans people don't hate on anyone, so why would you?
Btw I used to know Tobi for a short time when we were in the same high school and he is a good person with a big heart.

Do you know how he is doing now? This film is from 2021 and I am worried for any transgender person still living in Hungary.
Nobody is asking what the common factors are among these youth that might be causing the body-brain disconnect and mismatch in self-perception. Is it chemical, hormonal, societal, injections, there is more to this phenomena. Individually they perceive it as their unique truth, but the statistics are alarming. On reddit alone there are more than 30k "detransitioners" who suffer varying degrees of permanent changes and other sorts of harm by what is happening. 😢 They need compassion and for us to fight to protect and help them

Very good documentary. Tobi is a nice young man. He's got really good parents. Cherish them as long as you can. Once they're gone, the world becomes a very lonely place.
Oh, anyone with a "just my opinion" bag of words that attack, belittle, dehumanize and outright call for voilence, hatred, intolorance or you "have some advice", just keep it to yourself. Pray to God for you and your love ones. Focus on becoming the best possible human being you can be. Earn your place in heaven. Prove to God you deserve to be there.
It's very telling that you cleverly try to equate anyone who dares to voice an opinion on a social movement with calling for violence by lumping all those categories together. You should work on your own intolerance of diversity, and your own relationship with God.
