    Great set up Charlie. Spraying your own is the only way to go. Because when it is time to go there is no time to waist

      I agree with you 100% I know other local farmers who depend on someone else for their spraying and it often causes problems and delays. I hate being at someone else's "mercy" and do my best to have the capability of doing everything myself, then I don't have to wait for anyone else. Just my preference, and I realize that hiring out spraying may work better for others.

    Charlie, we just finished spraying here. Got the corn about 2 weeks ago and then the rain came in and kept out of the beans for so long that we had heavy weed pressure in, those beans. What I mean by weed pressure, it was getting rather difficult to actually see the row of soybeans. All in all, it was a great experience working with Scott's son, Stephen. The young man really stepped up to the plate, and I was very proud of and pleased with him. Thanks for the video on your sprayer, Charlie.

      Glad to hear that you and Stephen are working together and that you got the spraying done. I have both my corn and beans sprayed now. I had a good deal of weed pressure in my beans as well, due to the rain we've had. Great to hear from you, my friend.

    Something you might want to look into is a small ultrasonic tub cleaner to clean all the parts in , Its amazing what will come out of all those little parts after a good cleaning. Just toss them in turn it on and let it do all the work and they look like new when they come out and when your done you got a quart of water you can use on your least favorite weed near by to use it on. That's a great idea, Don! I've seen others using them on CZcams and they've always looked interesting. I think you're on to something. Been enjoying your "series" on putting the wide front under the 1850. You able to get any planting done - has the weather improved?

      @@pagrainfarmer I used a sonic cleaner at work to clean the dies for the draw benches I ran and they really worked good. I had a MH 30 tractor that had a bad water pump and I couldnt find one for it. I took it apart and it was just flat nasty inside and locked up, 45 minuets in the cleaner and I could read every bearing number and every part was as clean as a new one ! I got new bearings and seals and put it back together and it worked perfectly ! I took a pocket full of sprayer tips and strainers to work and tossed them in while I was working and cleaned them up really good like new good ! I figured you would want to try this out cause it works really good and I like to pass along little tricks I've learned over the years to save some time and money to anyone who wants to know how. If there is a trick for something I'll figure it out and pass it along to everyone to make things easer on them. I got the 1850 all back together and more less hit the field running and didnt stop till I got done and everything planted ! I finished up Saturday afternoon about 2 hours before the rain set in, I had enough time to clean the drill out and got everything put up and then cut the grass at mom and dads before it rained. We got 3/4" over the weekend and more is one the way over the next couple of days. But it sure feels good to be done now ! Now to get the rest of the video's out ! Bandit

      Thanks Nelson. It's been a good sprayer for me the last 7 years. I finished spraying corn on Friday and sprayed my soybeans yesterday. The Hardi sprayer is all cleaned out with tank cleaner and put away until next year. Glad you enjoyed the video and that I could entertain you. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I sure hope I've been helpful to you on your journey. Over time, you'll learn what you need to know. There's so much to know and we never stop learning.

    I’ll chime in and agree that when it’s time to go it’s nice to be able to go without waiting on someone else to get there in time. I can remember a time a few years ago watching a ready to go hay crop get rained on waiting for the baler to show up, that was my next purchase, won’t happen again.

      Yeah, I like to be as independent as possible. Waiting for someone is sooooo frustrating.

    That is a really cool sprayer. I like the fact that you can just twist and turn and use a different nozzle. I agree with you wearing all of that protective gear and an open station on a hot day would definitely not be fun.

    • @pagrainfarmer
      @pagrainfarmer  Před 2 měsíci

      Well, it's definitely not fun wearing all that stuff when it's 85 degrees or more, but I'm not willing to risk being exposed more than necessary to the chemicals. I think it's better to take all precautions possible.

    I bought a Hardi sprayer about 2 years ago. I found the closest dealer, but they must not do much business with Hardi. They didn't have any one there that could tell me anything about the sprayer. So, I went the FDS, Fertilizer Dealer Supplies and got a new hydraulic driven pump, all new nozzle bodies, and replaced all the hoses and wet boom pipe. Like you said in your video, all the fittings are different. That is because they are metric in size. Anyway, if you need any parts, I still have everything for sale.

      Our John Deere dealer, who handles Hardi parts, also does not seem to be real knowledgable regarding Hardi parts. Like you said, I don't think they sell a lot of them. What kinds of Hardi parts do you have available?

    • @TAHDAHFarm
      @TAHDAHFarm Před 2 měsíci

      I have what looks to be the same pump and all the parts that go with it. From the pump, it went to a 3 valve electric control manifold that controls the flow by controlling the pressure of the boom. I have the manifold still all piped up and the control box you set in the tractor to turn the 3 sections on and off as well as the pressure. I have some of the hoses and all to boom piping. It has 27 nozzles that look like yours, plus there is a small bucket with more nozzles and tip parts. My email address is on the page. If you are interested, I can email pictures of all this stuff.

    Charlie, looks like you got a pretty nice setup for spraying. I remember when I was a kid dad would spray himself but I think he borrowed the sprayer or where he got his chemicals maybe he could get it from them and I'm not for sure. Thanks Michael

      I like to be independent as much as possible so I don't have to depend on someone else. Often their intentions are good, but they just don't show up, or what they're lending you is not available because someone else is using it. It's good to have your own.

      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I do some of that too, around the farm buildings. Believe me, I don't enjoy spraying, but it's a necessary evil.
