Mine showed up yesterday. One thing I found right off the hop is that the barrel jack is proud of the chassis about 1-2mm and there has already been arcing from the DC barrel plug to the chassis when I moved the switch. Does NOT bode well. Opened a case with UI Support this AM. Maybe ElectroBoom will like one of these.

Update: Ubiquiti is absolutely taking charge of the problem and resolving it beyond expectation. I have to say, this is a VERY good intro into their Support and RMA departments and a breath of fresh air. That said, I've never had to exercise Support or RMA in the 10+ years I've been buying Ubiquiti gear for my home and home lab.

External bricks are more reliable, safe to replace, run cooler than internal ones, and don't require massive disruption to replace if they die. When the brick is integrated into the rack mount like this one, it's perfect. For a desktop or wall mount though, the brick sucks big time - there are many negatives - the size, but most of all the difficulty of cable management.

It is definitely a better design. I am glad it has some 2.5Gbps on it and the fact that every port is at least POE+ is really good and it should make for a good home setup where you can have APs on the 2.5Gbps ports with cameras running on the rest. The only thing I question on the switch is the external power brick. I kinda wish they had just made the case itself bigger and then stuck it where they did in the rack mount accessory. The accessory is very well thought out with how it routes the cables though. I wonder if it would make more sense alongside the non POE version. I bet that thing doesn't have nearly as big of a power brick and might just be more like a little wall wart.

This will likely replace my combination of 16-lite + Flex XG I am using today, which will save on room inside our leviton structured cabinet upstairs.
The 16 lite has so _little_ total amperage that I had to add an additional inline poe adapter because I kept going over the max Amps (which functionally I found lower than they advertise).
Agree with the comments on the extra large power brick, but it will be ok. I will have to design some 3d printed Leviton mounts for both (I design and print custom leviton adapters for all my unifi gear).

It might have made more sense to split the PoE++ ports between the 2.5Gb and 1Gb ports as PoE++ devices like the Access controllers wouldn’t need 2.5Gb and therefore would be wasting one of the few 2.5Gb ports on the switch. Other than that it seems like a great product!

To me this would only start to make sense if there is a POE powererd 2.5 switch down stream nd i dont think that exists, yet anyhow. Why else would you need POE++ and 2.5 on the same port. To me it would make more sense to have the POE++ on the one gigabit side. To have power distribution through a 5 port POE or cameras and the like and keep the 2.5 open for faster devices like a few pcs not needing POE. Am i missing some application for having it this way?

The 1st of April was long gone when this was recorded, guess Ubiquiti missed the memo. Would have preferred to see PoE++ in conjunction with port speeds that can actually support WiFi 7's real world bandwidth. Time for Ubiquiti to start getting ahead of the curve for a change. This is almost a step backwards. Just as the U7 Pro is nowhere near the caliber of a "Pro" AP. Just called it the "Pro" to charge more money. Wasting time and resources currently on this switch is comical.
