Thank you!! I’m knitting my first sweater and ended up with a few holes with no live stitch, and couldn’t find any tutorial to fix it. I was feeling very discouraged and like I would have to completely restart, but now I know I can fix it!
I really like your technical explanations. I tried knitting recently but a bunch of stitches fell off at once and I couldn't get them all back on evenly so I gave up and went back to crochet. Recovering from a mistake in crochet is 100000 easier than knitting, especially since knitting mistakes don't seem obvious to me until a couple of rows down.
There's a great trick for correcting knitting mistakes from previous rows: you can ladder down a span of sts, so that you don't have to rip back any of the sts that were knit correctly, only the ones that were a mistake. czcams.com/video/-RmexrJRIDo/video.html

I don’t suppose there is a similar video for what to do in a situation where one is knitting in garter? I know you say at end that it works for other stitches, but alas am a bit of a beginner and seeing is easier. Maybe I’ll just get my courage up and go for it. Thanks for this. Important technique!

Hi Roxanne, this is a great video because I struggle with holes in my socks when I turn the heel, and then have to pick up the stitches from the front needle. It makes a hole at the top of the join, where I start decreasing the join. So frustrating! Now I know how to fix it. I wish I understood knitting enough to avoid the holes.
