What is going on my mates!!! Today we are going to talk about a pop punk/emo band called Modern Baseball. Modern Baseball was/is on of my favorite bands of all time, but sadly they are no longer
In this video, I will touch on the many factors as to why Modern Baseball is never coming back in hopefully an entertaining informative way. I love Slaighter Beach, Dog and Modern Baseball so much, I hope that shines through in this video :)
Modern Baseball has written many classic records over the years that they have put out through Run For Cover Records. Those records are Sports, You're Gonna Miss It All, The Perfect Cast, and Holy Ghost

Sadly I have to give a fat agree to this one mate, bren hasn’t posted anything on social media for over a year now and every body else seems busy with other things and that makes me sad cause they’re music has helped me grow so much as a person and helped me discover things that I never knew about myself. But who knows maybe they’ll pull an American football and get back together in 10 years. But sbd is rad

I’ve also heard from some people in that Philly scene that they (the other mobo guys) don’t really get along with Brendan, and were not happy they had to cancel two tours in a calendar year because he pulled out last minute. To elaborate, they weren’t mad he wasn’t mentally healthy, they were upset he didn’t take the correct steps to help his mental health, and in turn had to tease and screw over their fans twice. That was kind of the breaking point when they cancelled that last tour and made the announcement they were going on “hiatus.”
And it makes sense. As much as you love your friends, if you constantly have to wrestle them to take care of themselves and are worrying about them, it’s not healthy for you, and sometimes for your own mental health, you have to remove yourself from that situation. You can care deeply about someone but still not want them in your life, and I think that’s where they got with Brendan sadly. I think he consistently wasn’t taking the right steps for himself, and the rest of those guys just couldn’t do it anymore.
Fyi sean went and had a family. He does have an insta too btw

2021 is about to end and no sign of a comeback bois...we need to move on =(

My cousin loved these guys when we were in highschool. LOVED them.
I never understood it.
Then after COVID I started listening to them and learned they were out of Philly (where I grew up).
And now I regret not paying attention to them in highschool. My cousin saw them live, I could have too if I paid more attention.
Genuinely heart broken over them. I missed one chance to see them and shortly after they announced their “hiatus.” I wish could have just seen them once. Hoping they’ll get together for one more tour.

Man I graduated back in 2015 and I’m still jamming to mobo anytime their songs come on my shuffle. Modern Baseball had some of the realest lyrics that were sung over crazy fun music.
I’ll keep the hope out there for at least SOMETHING to come from them anytime in the future.

I had tickets to see them but then they broke up. Would've been a sick tour of MOBO, Sorority Noise, Kevin Devine, and The Obsessives. I'm glad I've been lucky enough to already of have seen them twice. My heart goes out to those who didn't get the chance.
Why did thay break up
I started finding bands about a year ago and as soon as I found what I liked 4 great bands were already broken up already, sorority noise, modern baseball, and jawbreaker. One smaller band but still some good shit glocca morra
I can see some small reunion tours down the road. I don’t think they need another album. As much as I want more MoBo, they said all that needed to be said with the albums and EPS they did release. Holy Ghost is the perfect final album. I would just like to see them live.

Just a correction, their last shows were in 2017, not 2016. and it was indeed at Union Transfer. They seemed very tired at the last of the three hometown shows they played that weekend. It was a very bittersweet show.
Just followed you on CZcams from Instagram, and just so you know you did crush my hope and dreams lol just kidding I already knew they wouldn’t but hey it is amazing that we have the technology to always repeat their music!
Also I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve watched every interview and performance on YT forever wishing there were more.

Loved them since I was 18 in 2012. Only saw half their set once when I saw them open for brand new on Halloween 2016. I always had chances to go and never took full advantage now it’s too late.

I always hoped mobo would come back but I knew deep down they wouldn’t. It was a great band but there’s always more to it than what’s present in the lyrics.

I wasn't sure that Anberlin would ever come back after their breakup in 2014. But here we are five years later so I think that there is hope for Modern Baseball to comeback for at least a reunion tour in the future.

First time I saw them was at riot fest in Chicago il I had no idea who they where or why people started moshing before they started playing I looked them up after some time after some curiosity and I instantly fell in love with them last time I seen them they played with brand new and the front bottoms I got both setlist’s for mobo and tfb I felt so happy that day I have it in my room to this day I love them truly if it wasn’t for mobo when Holy Ghost came out I would’ve killed myself that album helped me get out I remember seeing jake and Ian signing my set list after fan girling I will never forget when I saw them at reckless records I love mobo this is a band I would kill for

They went on “indefinite hiatus” instead of breaking up because they wanted to leave the door open to come back if they want to. Besides, they still do the very occasional show together now and then.

This hurts my heart. Didn't find them til 2016. So only got to enjoy them a year. And Slaughter Beach Dog is okay. But not really my thing. So it kinda sucks. Hope one day they do. They are like this generations' Fugazi lol. They have been on hiatus for over 15 years now. And I sure hope Bren is doing okay. Maybe just away from social media.

They’ve gone soooo downhill. Their roster from like 2011-2015 was legendary. Now it’s mostly just pretentious bullshit like Field Medic and Katie Dey.

Reunion tour please
I guarantee they'll play a show together again eventually. When you're young it doesn't seem likely, but when you're older you find that literally every band other that isn't the Beatles has reunited EVENTUALLY. Van Halen seemed impossible, it happened. Guns N Roses was out of the question, it happened. Talking Heads happened. Beatles probably would have happened to had Lennon not died. It's only been a few years. I'd get it if it were a band like Oasis where you have two psychos who hate each other, but there seems to be no bad blood here even if they don't hang out any more. And even in those aforementioned examples that did end up happening, there was a lot of bad blood and they happened regardless.
I can definitely agree. I love them, but they cannot be a great band if they aren’t enjoying what they are putting out there anymore. I saw MOBO in October of 2016 when they toured with TFB and Brand New...they were kinda disappointing, tbh. The set was cut really short, and they did not interact with the crowd whatsoever. They just seemed over it.

Personally, I wonder how their third album's reception and sale numbers impacted the band morale. "Holy Ghost" just didn't seem to have that catchy, go-lucky and memorable feel their first two releases had.
Still a great album.
I would disagree in the fact that a band has to mature. They wrote sports and YGMIA in college in their late teens/early 20’s. They had to grow up at some point. And they matured like a fine wine with Holy Ghost. The only issue I had with it was I wished some of Brendan’s songs were longer
