Hi Marie! I found your blog a couple months ago, and have loved everything I've made so far of yours. Thank you so much for all the time and energy you put into each recipe. This shampoo is just luscious!!! I have really thick shoulder length hair and wondered if I would need a conditioner, but I found I did not! It dried soft without frizzies, and most importantly, it took the heat from the curling iron very well, still soft afterwards.
I had none of these ingredients, so I had to buy everything, but I did all the calculations for each ingredient, and found that each 4oz bottle cost me $2.51, which I think is incredible for a high-end product. Although that does not include shipping (which right now was A LOT, but I won't have to reorder for a long time), I also figured how many 4 oz bottles of this shampoo I could make with each ingredient. The SLeS I may have to reorder after I make it 11 times, but every other ingredient will last many times. (If you really want to know on each ingred, just ask, 😃) Possibly my sizes of ingredients could be different from others, but I tended to stay with the size you recommended. Yes, I will have Guar Gum til I die 😃. FYI, the CCG was MUCH cheaper from Voyageur in the US. (Plus the Herbarie wanted $30 for shipping that one thing! )Silk peptides were much less at Essential Wholesale Labs and not sure if they were exactly the same as Mystic Moments, but they worked perfectly. I just had to make a few choices to not spend $200 for one new recipe 😃Shipping ran about $50 for everything, but I bit the bullet this one time and it was so worth it!!!
Sorry this is so long, but I was so excited with the outcome, that I wanted to share it with you!!!

Welcome! I always link all the ingredients for any given formulation in the blog post, which is linked in the description box below the video (that's one of the many reasons I highly suggest reading the blog post as well as watching the video! If you're not sure what I mean by the "description box", read this: www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/whats-the-description-box-on-youtube/.).
Sometimes those links break because they're always off-site links, or sometimes the store I've linked to isn't in your country. That's why I also have a giant page of places to shop all over the world, which you can find here: www.humblebeeandme.com/resources/. It doesn't have every country in the world, but it does contain all the online stores I know about. If your country isn't listed, that's because I don't know about any online stores in your country. You could try looking for a local Facebook group for people who like making soap & other cosmetics-they may be able to recommend places to shop.
      Happy making!

Wait... I admit I still have a LOT to learn about surfactants and understanding charges.... but I'm confused here.... I thought you weren't supposed to mix certain charges (yes I have read what you wrote on them) and this formulation has Cationic Guar Gum, Anionic SLeS, and non-ionic carprylyl/capryl Glucoside.... Im confused. 😕 This is making my attempt at Subbing surfactants extremely overwhelming 😢
My current struggle is my need to make a shampoo asap because I refuse to buy one for my family when I have told them I will make them now and have spent more than I care to on ingredients... and I am still struggling HARD to make my own formulation, so I am trying make one of yours (but you only have 2) this one I don't have SLeS and don't want to mix the wrong charges yet there are many different charges in this one. Amd the rose and silk most recent one I don't have siligel and don't want to sub with hydroxyethylcellulose because I want to use a fragrance. And I'm not experienced or knowledgeable enough to mix my own gums.... so in thinking of trying Sepimax Zen but it can't be mixed with anything cationic, so I'm currently looking into every ingredient to make sure it won't interact.... and hope my fragrance doesn't react with anything negatively.

Yes, but know that adding fragrance of any kind to liquid surfactant products is an infuriatingly large variable that often causes complete product failure. Be prepared to experiment and test :)

That is exactly what I've been experiencing. And also when I'm trying to bring any shampoo to a balanced ph it goes paper thin. I'm crying over here, lol.

As per the blog post, I don't recommend it. While hydroxyethylcellulose is a lovely thickener, I've had issues with its stability in surfactant products (please search "curdling body wash" @ www.humblebeeandme.com/search). It also isn't cationic (this formulation does not use regular guar gum, it uses cationic guar gum). Happy making!
