The batter-runner was never in the runner's lane and interfered with the first baseman's ability to receive a throw. Just over a year after that clip, Washington would be on the upset side of that same call.
How is so many baseball announcers don't know that where the ball hits the catchers mitt is irrelevant? The only thing that matters is where the ball crosses the plane of the plate. I love how they bitch if the HP umpire calls a strike/ball on a checked swing; I.e. Let 1 st base ump (or 3rd if appropriate) call it, but when they call a ball, all of a sudden the catcher and pitcher have a better angle. The day every player and manager play a perfect game, is the only time you should expect perfection from the umps. They are and have always been part of the game.
No. I have seen far worse and higher frequency from Angel Hernandez. Joe is just an authoritarian wannabe who can't take what he gives but Hernandez would be LONG gone if he didn't pull every identity card and have a union with too much power. P.S: This is coming from a PRO-union person.
Time to make umpires accountable for their bad calls or dispose of them all together. I would say that $10,000 for each bad call no matter what it was, would be entirely fair. That would put an end to umpires making deals for games. Joe West is a primary example of what is wrong with bad umpires. And lastly, umpires should never be putting their hands on a player, once they do, all bets should be off and players allowed to do the same.
You're just delusional. Fines of any amount for missing calls is ridiculous. There's absolutely zero evidence of games being fixed. Joe West isn't a bad umpire. Umpires putting their hands on players is nothing like players putting their hands on umpires. It's not an equal relationship on the field.

Since balls and strikes can't be reviewed here's another fun fact. On average 20% of all calls in a single game are called wrong. I love baseball but SOMETHING has to be done about umpires. In reality we have the technology to be rid of umpires entirely, going this route no player or coach could ever complain about the strike zone or a bad call ever again. Screw tradition when the numbers show just how terrible they really are.
You must argue balls and strikes!
It’s fun to watch though
The sheer amount of ads on this video is unbelievable. 20 ads. 20?!?!?!!?!!?
I think you possibly COULD ADD A FEW MORE ADS in this post

that ump has bad teeth imo
0:37 ump didn’t know what he was doing, when he ejected him he said nothing and fixed his pants when Cora was yelling at him
I am a yankee fan. I remember the first clip of that game
11:09-11:18 = That is my biggest problem with baseball announcers. He had his back towards the umpire, but has his head around, right towards the ump, and yelling at him. Give me a break with trying to make him seem like he was thrown out for no reason.
I completely agree with your comment I’m so sick of announcers using the his back was turned excuse
Exactly. According to these morons, you can say whatever you want as long as your back is to the umpire and you're walking back to the dugout. I wonder if they even hear themselves.
How come we can see what actually happened but the announcer can't. Maybe they should start looking for a new announcer?
CZcams Lover the irony is you are pretty much describing what you and every other authority hating crybaby does.
I watch these videos and the announcers drive me crazy. Then the player puts his hands up like why did you throw me out.
These would be even better if we could hear what is/was actually said.

That’s a great save by a manager tie game bottom 8 and you take one for your guys I like it 🤷🏽♂️
I was at the sox game when cora got ejected in the first inning. the umpire shouldve never gave warnings
4:13 "I'm not sure how the home plate umpire has this call." Because it was an obvious balk. If you don't step ahead of your throw and gain ground toward the base it's a balk. It was plain as day from home plate.
He CLEARLY stepped that way
@@moptop81 I hope you don't officiate ball...
Stepping that way and gaining ground towards the base is different.
I sure would love to hear what they're saying to one another is there screaming at the top of their lungs.
(Ball inside the strike box)
"Obviously the pitch was a ball."
Gotta love homers, lol.....
does any mlb game end with two full teams on the field?
I wish there were punishments for umpires for making awful, and unfair calls.

I love when you read the players lips "What did I do" lol You can not argue balls and strikes periods, its an automatic ejection. It don't matter that your walking away you can't say anything about balls and strikes.
All depends on the relationship between the ump and the player and to what extent and in what tone it happens.
Stupid rule, gotta get the umps in shape kid
Umps are way too sensitive and throw people out for nothing. I thought NHL refs were bad.
I'm not american so perhaps you can help.....the balls and strikes argument rule did they implement that to make the umps not look stupid?
@@dingodelta I dont think so its to speed the game. They look stupid half the time no matter what. A lot if things are non arguable especially anything thats a judgement call been that way for years.
3:10 If what the completely idiotic Nats announcer got what Juanny Soto said right then that was more than enough for an ejection. You NEVER mention a previous play from a different inning. The only way to get tossed faster is to punch the umpire
I know this is an old comment but the Nats broadcaster's are just bad. The younger sounding guy who does all the talking during these ejections is a former player (on some level) it sounds like but apparently has forgotten every rule he ever learned whilst playing the game . He comes off as just moronic in some of these ejections.
And that wasnt just any umpire. It was Greg Gibson the Home Plate Legend

That’s the guber ump again. Like guber on Andy Griffith show
I do not blame Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora for going off on home plate umpire (#78/Adam Hamari).
Markcus Hines it’s called brushing someone off, they shouldn’t even had put warnings
@@benguitar5123 They gave warning because earlier in the top of that inning Gardner got plugged at leadoff. Severino was sending a message without hurting anyone.
Cora deserved too
Boy Adam Hamari has quite the lengthy ejection resume for such a young umpire. Kid's in over his head.
Boston Red Sox manager Álex Cora went off on homeplate umpire (#78/ Adam Hamari) and got himself ejected from the game for arguing balls and strikes by the homeplate umpire Adam Hamari (#78).
Would love this video without the 15 ad breaks. Like 5 at the most man

true
He didnt clearly step towards 2nd
His foot was kinda pointing to third
Joe west Been Blowing calls since 1978
it's like when you talk back to pops and hes not havin any of it..."DONT BACKTALK ME BOY!"

Why is it when I watch these ejection videos it's the same three umps, over and over and over again.

Pretty much. Lol
Words can’t always be heard, however if a player makes a move then it can get someone ejected.

16:03 The most uneventful manager ejection I’ve ever seen
That killed me 😂😂
Some of these Umpires in to get they eyes change
10:55 He WAS walking away...but he was jacking his jaw quite loudly while he did it...don't act like he didn't have that hook coming. Homer announcers.
Yeah I've seen some bad ejections but that umpire took more than a lot take.
Cora's ejection -- the first one. If you're gonna get tossed in that situation, you clear the benches by at least verbally challenging the pitcher.
30:45 isn’t there a rule that if the catcher misreads the ball and it is brought down and badly handled it’s an automatic ball? It happened in the WS so I’m just wondering. I am not saying that’s a bad call I’m just wondering if that’s the rule
Def Con 1 to Def Con 5 nobody ever seen Wargames?
Bro the ads on this video is lokey rediculis
I love baseball. I am a Cubs girl. Love watching the Sox too. Man, the tension between NYY and BRS is crazy!
THE LOCAL SPORTSCASTERS ALWAYS DISAGREE WITH THE UMPS-ALWAYS!
Duh
You surprised?
Yet the umpires are usually correct.
Duh that is there job. To be a homet

Geezus... is Joe West somehow involved in every cluster #$% in major league baseball?
Has he retired? If not, wow he sure do need to!!!
I’m not sure what they make but 10,000 seems high
@@wikidclownchris The senior umpires make about $400k annually.
@hbk314 I think its crazy you're just allowed to make bad calls and eject people, imagine if cops were allowed to just incarcerate innocent people and its just part of the game
